  1. I used Dr Aceves in Mexico, he has a very good reputations and is a very caring person. I would recommend him to anyone looking for the sleeve. He was a little more money I paid $8750 but I felt it was worth it, that covered everything but the flight to San Deigo. I have had no complications, and he has done over 700 sleeve surgeries wiht no leaks. You are in the hospital al but the fist night you are there. The nurses are caring and the place is so clean. The drs(Aceves and his asst. Dr Campos) come and check on you 3-4 times a day. They do 3 lea tests, and you get all xrays lab reports and a sugical report to bring back to your Dr. Good Luck Brenda

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

I was self pay and when I checked with my ins. about coverage and aftercare hey said since they won't pay for the surgery they won't pay for any follow-up care. I'm 2 months post op and have had NO complications or need for follow up yet. You will need to check with your ins. and see what the policy is. Research alot and find a Dr with a good reputation and one that has done 300 or more of the surgeries, thier complication rate is lower the more they have done. Good Luck Brenda

I use Fiber Choice chewables. They come in a sugar free tablet, lots of fiber. They say 7grams of carbs but when you subtract the fiber it's ok. They don't taste to bad either very tart though. Brenda

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

I took my very skeptical former nurse mother with meand she was very impressed with the DR's and the hospital and the level of care I received. Contact them Directly no need to go thru a cordinator. They are wonderful. This is the frist major surgery I have had and had no complcationsand very little pain. Love the fact that I can now wear some of the clothes I haven't been able to wear for few years they fit again. Ask lots of question we're all pretty helpful here. Brenda

    Checking into the Sleeve Surgery

I too wieghed in over 300lbs, Have been over weight since childhood. I started out looking into the band but then found out about the sleeve. i am verey happy I was sleeve. I have lost 35lbs since Jan 19,10. Check out the program that Dr Aceves' has, he is wonderful. so caring,I wwould recommend him and his staff to anyone. They pick you up in San Deigo, you stay in a very nice hotel 1 night and 3 nights in the hospital surronded by caring nurses and 2 DR's that visit with you 3-4 times aday. Everybody on the ward is there to have surgery with Dr Aceves. so you will meet up with people having the same procedure as you. Ernesto the drive and Dr. Campos have both had the sleeve sugery. Dr Sceves has not had leaks and he has done 700+ Sleeve sugeries. You are in good hands with him. Brenda
  11. Congrats on your upcoming sugery. I had mine 1-19 and the pain was nit bad, only needed pain meds 1-2 times during the 2nd day, what ever they give you during sugery has a lasting effect. Brenda

  19. I am such a slave to my scales, even bought a new one that tells you everything BMI % of body fat, hydration level and bone mass. I step on the scale every morning. I'm down 26 lbs as of this am. I'm doing pretty good, can't wait till I can start bowling again. Sitting and watching isn't much fun. I am on 3 teams hoping I will be able to start again next Friday. We'll see how that goes before taking on Monday and Tuesday again, don't want to over do it.

    Home from Mexicali

I was very cold also, possibly it's from lack of enough Protein. When I increased the protein it got some better. I was always cold pre surgery also though.
  21. No haven't had any trouble with swollowing food but have noticed that some things I DONOT like at all that I was ok with pre-op. My B-day was Sunday so mom made me an egg custard and had ice cream(vannila) with it, the custard was good the ice cream not so much and I was an ice creamaholic pre surgery, also I was ok with the ESA protein shakes from Walmart and had one in the fridge so I went to drink it and about barfed. Going to stick to the premium protein from Costco. THe tuna I ate for lunch today usually like it, but now it has very fishy taste and I suffered thru it but wont eat it again for awhile. Too bad I bought so much of it the other day.

The only real problem I have had is when I drink cold liquids I feel nausus for a few moments, but it passes and I can dirnk again It helps if the liquids are more like room temp.

  22. Just cheking up on you. I'm enjoying the mushy stage except for the tuna fish I'm having for lunch today, not as good without the bread. Hope all is going good for you.

    Brenda

  23. Hi Barbara, Just checking up on you. How it going? Are you enjoying the mushy stage? I find it hard to find mushy foods that have protein in then so I still drink 2 protein shakes a day right now. For lunch today I'm having tuna fish, not so good without the bread thou. Last week I had a hearing convention to go to that was a challenge food wise but got thru it with a lot of soup that I could heat up in the room and the protein shakes. I'm now able to take my meds without crushing them just split them in half, and take 1/2 atime. Yahoo!!!!

Hope everything is going good for you.

Once you get to the stage that you can have applesauce it is much easier to tolerate the crushed pills. For me this wasafter day 10.

Feb 1st, for a sleeving good time

Hi Youknowit, I had a dream I ate 4 BBQ rids about day 6, woke up thinking what did I do, I can't eat that I was still on Clear liquids. Freaked me out but then got a laugh out of it. Add some mpoore Protein in it will help with the hungry feeling, you should be far enough along to add in Protein powder mixed with water. Brenda
