  1. It will get better! I am on day 7 of the full liquid diet. Make sure you are drinking enough. I finally found some good unflavored Protein at Vitamin World and its made such a difference. Of course the cravings are there, especially when I am cooking for the family, gee its hard to not just eat it all lol. Other Protein drinks make me feel sick to my stomach so the unflavored is awesome. I mix it in with the sugar free Jello and pudding. It totally changed the color of the jello which made it look seriously creepy but I cant taste it in there. Just make sure to mxi it in good. With the pudding, I mix the protein in with the milk, then add the pudding mix. With the jello, I mix the protein in with the cold Water, then add it to the hot water mix. Im drinking tons of Soup broth and drinking lots of water. Ohh and sugar free popsicles.
  2. My surgeon said I might have an issue and need to be seen during my TOM post-op since I will be on blood thinners for 30 days. Normally he would discontinue blood thinners upon discharge from the hospital but I had a clotting issue in pregnancy so he doesn't want to take any chances. What had me a little concerned to is that I hemorrhaged twice after having my twins as well. Any words of encouragement? Did anyone need to be seen during their TOM because of the blood thinners? Thanks ladies
  3. My diet is just full liquids. Ive been living on jello and pudding mixed with unflavored protein, soups, chicken broth, yogurt, popsicles and lots of water
  4. You all are just amazing. Its so great to know I have this site to help me get my head on straight. Most of the ladies at our support group are in their 50s and 60s and all so encouraging me to get it done now and not struggle during these years with my weight. I am excited to have more energy to do stuff with my kids and not be worried that I am embarrassing them or myself. I keep reminding myself of a situation I had in the last few months. We took our teen youth group from Church to the skating rink. I LOVE skating and even with the weight can do so pretty easily without getting too out of breathe. Well one of my girls needed help with something and pulled me to the ground. in the middle of the skating rink. With nothing around to help my fat butt up on rollar blades. I was mortified. And its not like I was just out with a bunch of strangers. My husband was there, my friends were there, the teens from our group were there and my fat butt had to do everything I could to get up off the floor with nothing to grab on to You all are so right, I have to do this for myself, I need to give my fears to the Lord and just keep on moving toward this surgery. I have to do it for me and I have to do it for my family. I want my husband to look at me as his hot wife ♥ and I need my kids to look at me as a mom who would get out there and play them. Thank you all sooooooo much!!
  5. Being able to eat small portions and being satisfied is absolutely one thing I am excited for. What a blessing that would be! cwalker, thank you for that encouragement too! It would be so amazing to not need a tummy tuck afterwards. Also puts my mind at ease at this surgery being easier than the c-sections! So, I really want to thank everyone so much for getting me back on track. Thankfully tonight was support group too, they really brought me back down to earth and helped calm my nerves, everyone laughed saying they remember being at the exact place Im at right now with starting to panic and second guessing my decision. A few of the ladies plan to come visit when Im in the hospital too so thats nice to know how much they really care and will be there for support post op. Again, thank you everyone for your help. I will be heading out tomorrow to hopefully find some more Proteins to try out
  6. Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice. Its not just the Protein drinks, its being scared of yet another surgery. Ive had 5 so far in my life and Im only in my 20s. Then of course I think of needing a tummy tuck (which I already need from having 3 c-sections), and possibly more surgery to fix what I have done to myself. I try not to be a worrier but I worry about what would happen to my family if something were to happen to me. My children are so young. Its just pre-surgery jitters I guess. It annoys me that Ive allowed myself to get to 240 lbs. I have friends who eat so much worse than I do, who exercize less than I do and still dont gain. Its annoying. I am going to return the protein I did buy and keep looking, I just cannot see myself drinking something that makes me want to vomit. Im just scared.
  7. I am really, really struggling today. Ive gone through this whole process since August, Ive completed everything, I have my surgery date and Im on day 3 of this 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Ive been so sure about this process the whole time. And now Im thinking Im crazy for doing this. I know the first few days are the hardest on the liquid diet but this Protein thing is killing me. Ive tried chocolate and its just grossing me out! I normally love chocolate and it doesnt taste bad but its just the thought of it is seriously making me gag. Ive tried two different brands. THen I tried vanilla and oh my goodness! I had to spit it out. Tried it in just a Protein Drink to start with, then today tried a smoothie ICK ICK ICK! Im going to return the 4 jugs of protein Ive bought, thats for sure. So now Im just drinking a smoothie with fat free milk, low fat yogurt, blueberries and strawberries. Not a lot of protein but I just cant stomach the stuff. I cant even drink the Carnation Instant Breakfast and I normally like those I just dont know what to do, Ive invested all this time and been so sure of it and Im so stinkin close and ready to quit I know I need help to lose this weight. My starting weight is 240 and Ive lost and regained so much over the years. I need it, but I dont know if I can do it
  8. I don't know if you can or not but I know from my experience on only day 2 of the liquid diet, there is no way I can actually exercize, Im wiped out and starving.
  9. Any opinions on unflavored protein drinks? I'm on my 2 week liquid pre-op and the flavored stuff is making me gag. Thanks
  10. Well I made it through the first day. I woke up with a headache this morning though *sigh* I did go out and buy some Optimum protein and its better than the AMP I had bought but seriously, I dont think I can handle all the chocolate YUCK! I normally like chocolate but its just too much. I am going to try out some new recipes for smoothies today.
  11. Ive been told that getting a timer and setting it between each bite has helped others to slow down.
  12. Thank you!! THose look amazing!!
  13. WOW! Thank you so much for these, started my pre-op liquid diet today and this will help tremendously!
  14. Thank you for the list! I didn't even think about yogurt and I have some of that in the fridge right now Getting ready to try out some of these Protein drinks for dinner tonight too, really hoping its good, Ive found some great sounding Protein shake recipes on a blog. Thanks!
  15. I think Im going to starve to death lol. Ok, well maybe not starve to death but IM HUNGRY! I have no idea what all to eat, my doctor gave no guidelines on the pre-op diet other than saying it was full liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Guess I need to go find my after surgery book for some ideas on what to eat. I've had a Carnation Instant Breakfast made with fat free milk and some decaf coffee with vanilla creamer. Not much in the way of calories or substance at all. I'm also using regular stuff, the sugar free stuff makes me gag so Im saving that until I HAVE to switch. Whats really confusing for me is that I know 2 people who had the same surgeon *1 sleeve, 1 RNY* and neither one had any kind of pre-op diet. I am starting out smaller and quite a bit younger than them too so I dont know what the deal is. Anyways, I will do whatever he wants me to do so I am sucking it up. So far Ive had to make breakfast and lunch for the family and soon up making my all time favorite meatloaf for dinner. *sigh* I want meatloaf too but I know this is only for a time that I have to starve. Gee it will be nice post-op when *hopefully* I wont be hungry anymore. The worst part is having to pee every 5 minutes Oh and having to document my weight and measurements was not a fun thing either. I did have to laugh earlier today, I got a giftcard in the mail for my upcoming birthday for the Cheesecake Factory hehe. One day I will be able to use it Well, I guess thats enough complaining, maybe a nap wil help with the hunger pains.
  16. Thanks for posting that video. I had seen another one awhile back of the surgery but this one was much better. So excited for my sleeve
  17. I am so excited to finally be scheduled for surgery! My date is Feb 28! WOOHOO! I have been attending a WLS support group weekly and finished up all my classes in December. Took FOREVER (not really but it sure felt like forever lol) to finally get my mental health eval. Went through an almost 600 question test prior to seeing the psychologist. 2 weeks later I saw the doctor for my in person visit. I was slotted for 90 minutes and was out of there in 15! He basically asked if I had questions and said a few things to make sure I was ready for the changes ahead. The doctor said he would put in my report by the end of the week (my appt was on a Wednesday). I jokingly told him he still had 1 hour and 15 minutes slotted for my appt so he had plenty of time to write up my report Well apparently thats what he did haha. The group I had been going to all said it would take at least 2 weeks out from that appt before I would be scheduled to meet with a surgeon. The day after my appt, I got a call from surgery asking if I could be there Friday morning. UM YEAH! Of course I would be there I was terrified going into the appt, hoping I would like the doctor since he is not the one I orginally wanted. Well his intern started to scare me a bit. He was suggesting that I might be better off with the RNY. NO WAY did I want that surgery and my family would have flipped if I switched to it anyways. He was going on and on about how I could lose 10% more of my weight, well no thank you, at my weight its not worth the addition risks to lose a few extra lbs. So he went off to get the doctor, now I had read up on him already, everyone said he was a great surgeon but had a bad bedside manner. What do I care about that though?? All I care is that he knows what hes doing. Well I thought he was great. He is very direct, he doesnt sugar coat things, which is great! I appreciated that he was so straight forward with his expectations of me and what I can expect from him too. He is very conservative in his treatment and repeatedly told me if I have any issues post surgery to make sure to contact him ASAP and not to play the waiting game with anything. He is also putting me on blood thinners for 30 days. Normally he only has patients with my BMI do it while in the hospital and saves the blood thinners at home for patients with a BMI over 50 but because I had issues with clotting in pregnancy with no known cause (all my labs for clotting and autoimmune disorders were fine) he thinks its best to just play it safe and do 30 days worth. I really did like him and felt totally at ease with the surgery once I left my appt. Most the doctors at the hospital only require a 1-3 day liquid diet pre surgery but he requires 2 weeks sooooo now Im trying to prepare myself for that. Im going to start it on the 15th because there is no way Im starting it on Valentines day lol. Ive started buying Protein drinks, bought AMP today to try, hoping its not too terrible, especially since its on sale at GNC right now Anyways, move on over people, I'm ready to join you all on the losers bench
  18. I had my gallbladder taken out a few weeks after having our first daughter. 1 year later I had our twins and a few weeks later I ended up in the hospital 3 times, the first time they said it was heartburn, the 2nd time they requested the labs from the civi hospital I had been taken to via ambulance and said I was fine and sent me on my way. 3rd time they ran labs again and my labs were not looking good at all. I had gotten to the point of not being able to even drink Water because it made me throw up, couldnt even take my bp meds (only was on them because I had severe pre-eclampsia in my pregnancy again and my bp had not gone down yet). I had jaundice which was really creepy to see myself so yellow lol. I was in intense pain and nothing was helping. The labs showed I had pancreatitis and after ultrasound and CT scan they said my liver was inflamed too. They could not see the stones though. The next day I was transfered to a civilian hospital and they put me under a twilight and did an ERCP. As soon as they got in there they saw 3 stones hidden in the common bile duct. They had scoped me for those after taking out my gallbladder a year prior so they said they were likely caused by pregnancy. They cut out the stones and I woke up in no pain. I did end up in the hospital for another 3 or 4 days til my labs started to look better and had to go back every few days for repeat labs til they were back to normal again. Hopefully your doctors can figure out what is going on with you, I remember the pain well and its not something I would wish on anyone..
  19. Like the other poster said, it takes getting used to. I still cannot stand mine. Im still exhausted. I use it though every night even if I nap during the day because it does stop me from snoring and if I try to sleep without it I wake up with a sore throat. Just know that there are sooooo many different face masks and you might have to go through quite a few til you find one that works for you.
  20. I have not been sleeved yet but I have had my gallbladder out. THe reason most people gain after having their gallbladder removed is because, like me, I can eat whatever I want with no issues now. When I had my gallbladder, fatty, greasy would set off an attack, now they do not. I do not believe it will be an issue after surgery since I wont be able to eat the fatty greasy stuf anymore like I can now.
  21. Thought I would give an update of my appts. Everything but the mental health and appt with the surgeon will be completed this week! Well Im kind of hoping I can get the mental health one done this week too but no idea when I will get scheduled for that one. So far the classes have been just as boring as I expected. Stress management was the least helpful of all the classes and beyond boring. But its over with and Im flying through my classes! I am so loving the support group I found. The ladies are awesome! Not many sleevers, mostly RnY folks but still the info is helpful. This week some people are bringing in protien shakes to let us check that out, so awesome! Im going to have my PCM put in for lab work too, some folks have discussed having all the Vitamins checked out before hand and I would much rather start to fix any deficiencies now than to wait after surgery. My hubby and I have decided to switch to a high Protein, low carb diet as of the 1st. I can lose probably 15 lbs or so and still qualify for surgery since I have sleep apnea, as much as I would like to eat whatever I want up until surgery I need to get in the habit of it now, so might as well start wtih the new year
  22. You look awesome! Keep up the good work!
  23. I fear I will be totally flat, already small in that area at a B cup and I havent even had surgery yet Totally getting the girls replaced and a tummy tuck after I lose the weight.
