    INSURANCE APPROVAL!! :)

Got my approval letter in the mail today although I called a few days ago and they told me it was approved. I am sooo relieved however now I am getting scared about complications. Band date is August 24th. Good luck to you all.
  2. I called Aetna today to check on status for 8/24 banding. They said it was approved but on an outpatient basis. My docter makes you stay overnight so I put a call into them earlier today. The lady at Aetna said most docters will call Aetna from the hospital day off surgery and find a reason to keep you over night but it makes me nervous. I do have SVT a heart rate that goes way up under anxiety so I will probably have good reason to stay overnight. I was so anxious for approval and now that I have it I am anxious and nervous. I hope it's only normal.
  3. Im so sorry to hear it. Make sure you appeal I have a friend who had to appeal twice but was finally approved. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. My doesn't go to Aetna until the first week in August. I will keep you posted.

  4. Hi, my band is August 24th and I did not have to lose weight but I was told not to gain any. I am only 202 pounds started at 206 but I do have to go on an Atkins diet 2 weeks before surgery to shrink my liver. I was worried about a liqued diet I heard so many people talk about, so I was very pleased with the Atkins.

  6. I scheduled my surgery today for August 24th. I am a teacher and pushed for August so I wouldn't miss any school, they shun on missing the first few weeks. I start school around 31st which will give me a week. I am stressing now because I am wondering if I will be up to it after 1 week. Anyone go back to work sooner?
  7. My docter won't submit to Aetna until after my file goes to their review board which is July 28. The lady said that my sugery set for August 24th is pushing it because Aetna sometimes takes 4 weeks to approve. I heard from others with Aetna they were approved in less than a week. I am crossing my fingers since I am a teacher and it is August or I have to wait till November. Good luck!

  8. Thanks for the replies I think I am just getting nervous now that it is coming up fast. Hearing from everyone on this forum helps so much.

Aetna Insurance with 35.5 BMI and Sleep Apnea

I am in the same boat as you. I also have Aetna and a BMI of 36 with Diabetes, high cholesteral, hip and leg pain, etc... I just got my 2 year weight history and my BMI two years ago was 34.5 with no comorbidities. I have finished all my appointment and meet my surgeon on July 12 to schedule my surgery. I am so scared I will get denied. You are not alone. Good luck. I have heard that Aetna is quick to say yes or no and after appeals they do finally cave. We will see. I am hoping for an August banding.

    August 2011 Bandsters????

I finally meet my surgeon on July 12th and since I am a teacher I am hoping for a August banding. I have Aetna which is usually quick to say yes or no so I will cross my fingers. Finished all my appointments and my own heart docter is sending me for a Ecko and stress test. I am nervous about the upper GI. Good luck to you all!
  11. I have not been banded yet but I have SVT where my heart rate does the same thing. I am also a little worried because when I am nervous my heart rate goes up. I take a beta blocker and a calcium channel blocker and I am worried because I heard you can't take pills right after the surgery. I see my surgeon on July 12. I am eager to hear what your surgon says! Good luck.
  12. I have begun the journey with Lehigh Valley Bariatric. There are so many appointments I can't keep track. I must say they cover all the bases and I feel confident that I will be well prepared when the time comes for me to get my band. I was just wondering if anyone has used Dr. Boorse? I will not get a chance to meet him until two weeks before my file goes to the review board for approval (July 12) so when they asked me to pick a surgeon I had to go by reputation alone.
  13. Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I do have diabetes, high cholesteral and tryglycerides, and Gerd. I went for a sleep study last year and did not have it. Have three children and have been snipped so that won't help me. Everything will be submitted at the end of July. I will keep my fingers crossed!
  14. I am a little stressed because I received my 2 year weight history from my doctor and in 2009 my bmi was only 34.5 with high cholesteral and tryglycerides. Now my BMI is 36.5 with diabetes added to the mix for the past year and reflux. I am panicking that I have committed so much to the process, and even quit smoking, and will get denied. Has anyone any guidance?

    Any 30 - 34 BMIs

My BMI is 35 and people say the same thing "Your not that Big" when I tell them about my plans. I know what right for me so I just ignore them. I also take 5 medications a day and have struggled for 10 years with my weight. I am only 5'3. I just worry about insurance approval with the lower BMI. I am diabetic, high cholesteral, gerd. Good luck to you all!

    I'm new here!

My surgeon is Dr. Boorse. I am hoping to have surgery in August because I am a teacher. I may have some problems getting insurance approval because my BMI in 2009 was only 34.5 and I have only been diabetic for about 1 year with a BMI of 36.7 now. Good luck to you too!

    Hello from the poconos!!

Hi Rob, I started my lapband journey in April. I am on the three month program and have seen the PA, the Psychologist, and the dietician. I live in the Poconos in Stroudsburg so it is a hike but after researching it seems like they have a really good program at LVH with lots of support. I am excited and hope to have my band in August if all goes well. Good luck! I just made the call for my Info night down at lehigh valley hospital in allentown. I went to my doctor this week and she did a BMI on me. I am 6-4, 466lbs right now with a bmi of 57.5!! I was shocked. she told me that I had almost 90 lbs of muscle and my ideal weight would be 265. That seems like a little on the big side still hehe. about 7 years ago I looked into the surgery...where they cut the intestine..roun-x-y or something like that but decided I wasnt keen on re-routing the plumbing!! so now im back bigger than ever and a little bummed out. but im taking the first step to finally making a change!! with better insurance this time to!! hehe "BCBS mass" hoping for the best! im looking forward to posting some positive results!!

Hi, I am from Stroudsburg, hopefully getting banded in August by Dr. Boorse at Lehigh Valley Hospital. I have begun my journey and have committed myself to the process. The hardest part for me is going to be quitting smoking but I have the patch and a date set and I am gonna do it. If you want to chat email: peptalk1@aol.com. Good luck
