Back home and sooo happy!
Thanks for sharing your story-I especially love how you would've bottled the londoners accent to take home if you could! I can relate to you not wanting to leave the children and the fear of something happening, I have a 12 and 10 year old, and my baby was only 8 months old when I had my surgery last year!!

Do NOT do what I just did
I don't really eat sweets that much,if I have a few sweets, maybe 3 or 4 I'm fine. A few weeks ago I was making a cake and just trying the mix and whipped cream had the same effect, not as bad as today though. I was just looking at the pack to see how much approx I had, it was prob about 60 gr (the small pack has 45 gr) so it was quite a bit.

Do NOT do what I just did
OK so I ate quite a few peanut M&M's (used to be my favourites), maybe about 2 handsfull (easter treat to my children!) about 15 min later felt really ill, nauseous, tachicardic, dizzy, threw up, quite a bit of watery chocolate and then just gastric fluid, but it felt horrendous, what I would describe as dumping, now still feel tachycardic and really dizzy so I had to come to lay in bed. I have a headache now as well, please think twice before indulging on your kids easter eggs

Does living with someone who had WLS give you an advantage?
I haven't lived with a WLS person, and have never even met anybody who has had WLS, but never ever has any negative thoughts or feelings crossed my mind (apart from feeling a bit guilty on all the money spent) and I never once had the what have i done to myself feeling or regret. But just as you said I did to a LOT of research in getting ready for my surgery, maybe it's that, or maybe it's just a personality thing?

Deciding on Goal Weight
Hi Bookleen, I'm in a similar situation as you. My BMI is 27.1, and I've hardly lost any weight in the last 4 months. I too discussed w my surgeon and he said the same as Coops just said above, it's not about BMI it's where you feel comfortable. I still want to lose around 10 lbs but I know I have to start working at it again, at the moemnt I eat and drink anything I want, I so excercise quite a lot, I think thats the only reason I haven't put on any weight. I could've written that post myself you know, I need to tidy up my act too and strat losing again before my 1 year anniversary. How far out are you exactly? Good luck, to all of us

Maybe this is a stupid question....

I need a new scale...
Mine broke and I haven't had scales for at least 6 months, the best thing I could've done was not buying new ones, so I don't stress too much over stalls!

WONDERING???
I used to be a 38 D, now am a 34 B and I still have weight to lose. I'm planning to have TT and small implants, and I mean small (a full C maybe) All my friends who have had boob jobs (at least 10 of them have them) warned me not to get them to big, they say it's uncomfortable, and I should know, I had a breast lift and reduction about 8 yrs ago (medical reasons I had hyperplasia of the gland, so even though I was thin my boobs were big and painful) Now they just look HORRIBLE, tiny, saggy, droopy sacs

Day 22: This better not be the new normal.
All this will pass crosswind, you'll be able to eat without obsessing in due time. You should write a book, the main protagonist being your stomach

Interesting article on BMI
Thanks for sharing mini-me, even though we know this by now it's reassuring to read it! My surgeon said not to worry about my BMI, when I said mine wasn't normal yet he said not to worry, his isn't "normal" either, and I can tell you that he is not fat at ALL, quite good looking and fit actually

Found out today that I'm 5 weeks Pregnant
First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!! I can imagine it is scary, especially because you haven't planned but a baby is a blessing, the best thing in the world that can happen to you! You'll be fine, and you'll look lovely with a cute little baby bump, not a huge mass of blubber like I did with my last baby, which apart from not being a pretty sight is unhealthy for mum and baby.

My Darling Husband
I'm so happy for you Meggie, it's so important that your husband supports you! My husband has been very supportive as well, even though I'm sure at some point he was sick of me going on and on about surgery, and on the internet all the time reading stories, watching videos on you tube etc. I wish you the best of luck and you're gonna love your sleeve!

power plate
I've been told it's really good, they have it at my gym, I've always wanted to give it a try, might do soon

Calling all you apple shaped ladies
I used to be a pear shape, but in the last 7-8 years have been an apple. At first, when I started losing weight my body was exactly how you're describing yours. Now it's starting to change and I can't believe it! I do a lot of exercise, of all types and I'm quite excited to see what my final shape is gonna be like! Are you sleeved yet?

Changed Goal
Aww thanks for your comment, you're so sweet! Good luck in your journey, you'll be there in no time

HONESTY, GUILT AND SUBMISSION
Diva I did some cheating post-op as well. Atabout 2 weeks I ate a few bites of nachos, chewed to death and didn't even throw up afterwards. I also licked the icing off my baby's baptism cake. I felt like you after that, the guilt about all the money spent, etc etc and I stopped doing it! You will be able to eat all those things that you crave in small portions when you're a bit further out, so don't worry! The important thing is you realised what you were doing wrong and you are willing to change your behaviour, if I could do it so can you

Why so few calories on maintenance?
I think that there is no scientific explanation, and that is why weight loss/obesity is not as straightfoorward as many people think (usually thin people who never have had a serious weight problem) it's not as simple as calories in calories out and that a negative balance unavoidably leads to weight loss is not true! Who knows what's in the environment as you say as well as our genetic makeup, how is it that some people (my brother who is adopted for example) eat loads of food and don't get fat and don't even exercise??

Why so few calories on maintenance?
I think what you say is true, we are all different an what applies to me might not apply to the next person. HAving said that, a lot of other issues may be: underreporting the calories we actually ingest, which is very common, especially in obese women, hypothyroidism or other hormonal/metabolic disbalances, starvation mode, which many people don't believe in, but their is a lot of literature out there that confirms that it is possible, age, activity (or lack of it). What I'm saying is that that is the norm, no less than 1200 calories for an extended period of time, it's possibly as unhealthy as being slightly overweight, especially if yo-yo dieting.
