  1. Good luck yuo'll love your sleeves!
  2. The same happened to me gained 6 pounds when I was discharged from hospital 3 days after surgery, you'll do great!
  3. My husband never, ever compliments me. He supported and continues to do so me in me weight loss surgery, helped me research spoke with the surgeon (he is a surgeon himself), supports me 100% in everything on this weight loss journey. Even when I used to be thin young and good looking he would never ever say anything, that's just the way he is and I love him regardless. He was concerned when I started putting on loads of weight, went with me to see the Psychologist who specializes in obesity but never pushed me about losing weight just because of the way I looked. Now that I'm near goal everybody says something about how happy and healthy I'm looking, he just says that he's happy thatI'm happy and that yeah, he can tell that I've lost a lot of weight and that sex is better now. Today I was asking what other drinks I needed to get for New Year's Eve, and he said something about "too much" I thought he was gonna say don't get too much or we've already got too much. He actually said (and it's a bad translation from spanish) that I have "too much of a nice figure now" He actually complimented me, I am wearing a new pair of jeans and a fitted top and was putting my coat on, and he actually said that I have a nice figure, I'm still in shock!!!!!!!!!
  4. There's a good website called Insistute for advanced bariatric surgery that has a diet guide in PDF format, I would copy and paste but my computer isn't working properly
  5. I asked specifically what I would be eating after surgery, what foods to avoid, when can you drink coffee, alcohol, how many calories a day roughly should you be eating when you're on solids, I wrote down everything and went to see the nutritionist with my list of questions!
  6. I did rum and diet coke (left it to go flat first) with lots of ice when I was 2 and a bit months out. My doctor said it was OK, he said a glass of wine would be fine as well, I like having rose with a lot of ice, for some reason I don't enjoy white or red that much anymore.
  7. I am also a self-pay patient, but maybe things here in the UK are different. My surgeon and nutritionist work together as a team, as it should be. I am allowed healthy carbs, have been since I started eating, obviously not in unlimited amounts because 1-I won't have room for protein 2-I won't lose weight. I work with my sleeve, when I'm on a stall I try and cut down my carbs as much as possible, and then I go back to adding them to my diet. It works for me, but as Tiffy says what works for me might not work for the next person. I just find it strange that having self paid your surgeon doesn't work along side a Nutritionist.
  8. Sounds interesting, I'll have a look and see if I can find it. It's amazing how complicated our bodies are, and for us who suffer/ed from obesity it's not that straight forward the concept of losing weight.
  9. I know that juliarh has a vlog on youtube, I really enjoy it!
  10. With due respect Katt, I'm not talking about people who pig out on holidays and therefore have an eating disorder. I am familiar with this criteria, but having done research and a Masters in Nutrition and Psychological Sciences you will find that in EDNOS, patients who don't meet all the criteria are still categorized as having an eating disorder. I am not saying that all fat people have an eating disorder, but in the same way they are a lot of "normal" weight people who have an eating disorder.
  11. You look, happy, great and healthy, congratulations!
  12. [ Trying to post a picture of what I ate for Christmas lunch(not sure if it will work), a bit of everything,(including a few glasses of sparkling rose) and that night I had the same again and a cupcake
  13. All I can say is that as BBJ clearly said, most obese people have at some point of "our" lives some sort of eating disorder. Overeating, extreme dieting, binge eating, they are all types of eating disorders or "disored eating". I have had an eating disorder my whole life, my parents put me on a diet when I was 9 years old, so I have been on extreme diets and then binge eating for 30 years until 5 months ago, when I got sleeved. I am no longer on a diet, even though I'm a slow loser I'm fine with that, because I know too well the consequences of abstaining from certain desirable foods and the binging on them. My goal is to be able to enjoy food albeit in small quantities, and not starve myself anymore. After 30 years of dieting I can certainly say that diets don't work, and it is a scientific fact. I LOVE my sleeve!
  14. I was told the same but as I am NOT a rule follower after a week or 2 of feeling really tired I started having 1 protein shake a day. Hope yoou're feeling better
  15. Sorry you're feeling like this, I would go to the Doctors and see if your antidepressant needs adjusting. I guess a combination of everything you are experiencing contribute to you feeling depressed, are you getting enough nutrients in and take all your vitamins/ suplements? Hope it gets better
  16. I still get hungry, not as much as presurgery, but i guess sometimes it is just headhunger. The good thing is that I do get full (physically and mentally) when I eat a small amount of something so I do eat small amounts but at least 6 times a day just like the guy of that book recommended. I try not to make a big deal of my hunger, or else I know that it will turn into an obsession as it used to be, so if I'm hungry I eat, a piece of cheese, chicken or some kind of protein
  17. I know I couldn't have, and if i did lose the weight I know i put in on eventually as I've always done for the most part of 30 years!
  18. I'm 5 months out and I know that I'll definetely need a dermolipectomyas the skin of my tummy is very saggy and wrinkled. As for the rest My arms and legs aren't as bad as I was expecting. But as myturn just said it depends on genetics and a lot of other things like your age. Don't let this put you off surgery though, I don't really mind about my tummy that much but I will eventually get a tummy tuck because I'll feel more comfortable and it's been something that I always said I'd get done if/when I lost all my excess weight
  19. I heard about getting a temporary band on the sleeve if you haven't lost all the weight or if stomach stretches, I don't know how that would work though, cause after taking the band out you would gain all the weight back? I would go to a BAriatric surgeon with a lot of experience to see what he/she recomends.
  20. Congratultions and take care!
  21. Yep I agree with this too the skin on my tummy is a mess even though I've been a slow loser from the begining. Thank God my face is OK, and that I attribute to my slow loss (or I excuse my slow lost shall I say) I moisturise body and face everyday, go to the gym, but my tummy isn't getting any better, I have loads of stretch marks, the surgeon said to wait a year befor getting surgery because some of the skin will bounce back into place, but obviously not all of it. I am so happy that my arms ansd legs aren't as bad as I predicted, but to be honest I am so happy about having lost the weight that my tummy is a small detail in the enormity of things. I have one more month til my 6 month window ends, so I am hoping to be near target by then, I have lowered my target a tiny bit again, just haven't changed it yet!
  22. I am doing that, but it is true about that "window" that tijuana plication is talking about. I figured that as I don't have that much more weight to lose I would slow things down a bit, and even though I've never been great at sticking to really low carbs like most people on this forum, I haven'r been so strict on myself in the last week or so and my hair loss is slowing down as well! I still make sure that I get my protein in first, and have been having a few carby treats over these holidays!

  24. I have 3 girls (one is only a baby) I told my 12 and 10 year old in a very straight forward way, but pretended it was very simple, which technically it is according to my husband who's a surgeon. They didn't make that big a deal of it cause I didn't, 5 months later they love have an almost skinny mummy! I'll be praying for you, you'll love your sleeve
