  1. 3 years???? bleh.....that's a tough battle, glad to hear you finally won it!
  2. Hey dude! 106lbs is awesome!! Do you have any before / after pics???
  3. Geez.. That's a lot of money, but you're right. I know it's totally worth it!! You can easily spend that much on all the diets / gym memberships etc and still rebound back to the start. Congrats on your weightloss so far!
  4. Great start! That diet doesn't sound too bad. I LOVE the SmartOne's 3 cheese ziti. It is my absolute favorite.. I eat them almost every single day for lunch! lol
  5. Hi Lisa! Welcome  .. I am not scheduled for Baystate but i am in Mass.. I will get my band at BIDMC in Boston. The process has been pretty smooth for me thus far *crosses fingers* .. I won't be fully OKAY until i have that sucka in me! LOL Good luck
  6. I told my PCP about my decision. Then i took it upon myself to call the Hospital and request an application. I filled out the application -first- .. Then i was contacted rather quickly and sent the information in the mail. I set up my first appointment and was told to make sure that i attend the 2 required info sessions held every other Thursday *which i did*. My appointments were a few weeks apart.. There was also a mix up on my first appointment. A girl was an hour late for her appointment and it interfered w/ my own. They had to take her because she was scheduled for a fill the next day. It worked out good for me because they ended up booked like 5 appointments in one day for my next visit... Breathing test, Psych eval, Ultrasound, MD & Nutritionist visit. I really only attended 2-3 appointments and am scheduled for the lapband on Feb 12th. I started this whole process in like November.. i believe. The holidays and gaps between my appointments is why it seems like it's been soo long! The surgeon said some people can go a year without ever needing a fill. I guess you'll only know you need one if you stop losing weight or feel hungry all the time. I would make sure you call the hospital and get things in motion asap .. I didn't wait for my PCP because after 3 phone calls, she was taking too long! LOL. Annnddd.. I called my insurance company and found out the requirements. I had a head start. It paid off greatly.
  7. whoa! that's sweet.. congrats what did your diet consist of?
  8. If you're talking about the info sessions/seminars/meetings. The one's that I have attended here in Boston were in a conference room at the hospital. It was REALLY packed - People were standing and actually sitting on the floor! I'd try to get their early to grab a seat. One of the Doctors stood at the front and just explained EVERYTHING about both the Lapband and the Gastric Bypass. Satistics, What you could expect.. etc. He had it all displayed on the screen and had a mic so we all could hear him. At the end.. The Surgeon answered questions from those inquiring. It was not a one-on-one meeting or anything. It was just filled with good information. That was my experience. I had to attend the 2 required meetings prior to receiving a date for surgery. And both meetings were exactly the same!
  9. Where are all the Feb. 12th bandsters!? hehe, i know i've found a few on the board already. I received my appointment time and everything in the mail yesterday. I just called to request a letter for time off from my job.. They want the time in writing. I'm so sorry to hear that Patti.. I've been on eggshells and still am because at my Psych visit not ONE but TWO people who were scheduled for their surgery (one the day BEFORE) were called by their insurance companies to say they decided to revoke the approval. The people were hysterical on the phone. It's just not fair that you pay for insurance and when you NEED it.. They want to find every possible excuse -not- to let you use it. I hope it turns around for you Patti.. Try to fight it in the mean time.. I know i would. Good luck.
  10. Yay!! I am scheduled for Feb 12th too and i'm so nervous and excited. I just can't wait to get it over with.. Less than a month away!
  11. Wow, that is really supportive!! Awesome.
  12. Hi Liz, Are you saying that during the 3 months is when you hope to complete the entire process? If so, Good luck!! Hopefully they'll squeeze you in and everything will work out. My DR says we need to f/u for up to a year to make sure everything is cool.
  13. Hey Biomama! woohoo, i'm going to be banded on the 12th of Feb as well! good luck !
  14. Hi Misty ! Welcome and good luck!! I am being banded next month too. There is a Feb. Banster's thread you should pop in there too!
  15. At the info sessions i attended.. They said not to get pregnant until 2 years.. But if it happens 1 1/2 years after the band.. That's okay too. Did they say anything about getting pregnant so soon after?
  16. Ohhh okay! I used to slack with taking iron pills years ago. I guess that's caught up with me now, lol. My bloodwork came back REALLY low and when they figured out i was deficiant in B12 (which they also said is kinda weird b/c of my age and the fact that i do eat chicken) - I got the b12 shot at my PCP 2 wks ago. And i have been taking the Vitamin pills and my Vitron-C iron pill. I have been taking these pills for about 3 weeks now alittle over maybe. And i do not believe i am having any more blood work done b/c the only other appointment i have is my anast. appt and my surgery. So i really don't know if it's helped or not ! I guess i'll find out the next time i have blood work done, lol Good luck! I hope your levels.. level out!
  17. What is wrong with that? I for one, am highly upset that Polar Bears may not exsist by 2057 because of global warming.. The more people know about Global Warming.. The better.
  18. Wow, thanks everyone for your replies! It's helpful to see your thoughts and know the decision your made on this tough subject.
  19. Hi Dori! You can go to this website http://www.tickerfactory.com/ and create a ticker! It should give you a code at the end to put in your profile signature.
  20. I am scheduled fro the 12th too, at Beth Israel in Boston. I just hope my insurance (Neighborhood Health Plan) doesn't back out on me! I am so excited too!! good luck
  21. Hi Ginger! Good luck with your decision
  22. Wow!! That's great Andy. A lot of weight to lose in only 5 months!!
