How did you drop 28lbs so quickly?! Is that w/o a pre sugery diet? And what to do you eat/drink ?

wooho Megan! i had one reallllllllllllllly purple bruise on one incision site. other than that..the rest were pretty small. i have fair skin as well and it's been almomst 2 wks for me and the brusies are still there.

Sirly - What kind of protein shakes are you drinking? I was on the Slim Fast Optima and now i'm on Carnation instant breakfast and those make me feel pretty full. I also had stomach grumbling/bubbles but i ignore it for the most part b/c they would come and go... I actually still get them from time to time. I keep wondering if i'm REALLY hungry or is it all in my head. I realize i'm mostly wanting food when i smell some reallllly good food being cooked or if i actually -see- it. It's usually those times when i start to crave it. I also notice that I want to eat b/c i am bored in this house. I want to eat out of HABIT and not hunger. I just feel like i SHOULD be eating... blah!

Hi Paty, Welcome and good luck!! Hey Hairydo - Don't be afraid to step on the ball and talk to your PCP to get the refferal. You can also call the hospital and request that they send you an application in the mail w/ info to look over. That is what i did because i had missed the seminar. I actually started some of my appointments before attending the 2 required meetings. ( i just did them inbetween) Each Doctor is different w/ the time off. I work a desk job and my Surgeon suggested i take off atleast 3 wks. I notice some people seem to go back to work rather quickly. You can ask your Surgeon when you meet with him how long you'd need off - he should be able to give you an estimate. I was banded on the 12th and my recovery is going pretty smoothly. I don't think you'll miss the whole summer recovering - also depends WHEN you get your date and stuff.

I was taking the Slim Fast Optima (15g protein) - but goodness it tastes so nasty now.

It will work well ! You'll be nice and high when they wheel you in, lol. Though i was very calm to begin with - but i still was given the some anti-anxiety meds before i went in the OR which made things 1903939x's more relaxing. I was worn out so i slept A LOT in the hospital. I didn't need sleep aid. The meds made me tired as well.. I just wish i could have slept through the night w/o the nurses coming in waking me up to take my vitals every 2 hrs ! (it seemed) I have 7 incisions. I don't really know why i have so many.. 5 are TINY and 2 are alil bigger. But they're okay.. Just wicked itchy and pully right now - which is okay because it means they're healing. I was banded on the Feb 12th and i am out of work until March 8th - Hopefully going back on the 9th.. And i have a desk job! I'm getting paid for this time off so i really don't mind !

Hi Debbie, I was banded on the 12th too and i am still having horrible back / shoulder pain. I hate it! I thought it would be gone by now but i can't sit in one place too long or lay down for too long without having to turn or move around. I really think it's because i am sleeping on my back. I am so uncomfortable.. I'm a stomach sleeper and just NOW can start to sleep on my side w/ support from the pillows and such. I'm also on the liquid diet still.. ugh! I won't be able to change to mushies until March 8th at the latest. (my post-op appt). How are you doing on the liquids? What are you taking each day?

How much are you walking?? I was told not to lift anything over 10lbs for a month.

I will NEVER use liquid Vitamins again, It is so disgusting... I am using a pill crusher now and taking the vitamins w/ applesauce. Same goes for stool softener in liquid form. It burned the back of my throat for like an hour.. never again!

It seems like a lot of people are going to mushies so soon. I won't be able to go to mushies until March 8th at the LATEST. Seems like such a long time! Then that stage is supposed to last for 4-5 weeks. I guess it's a good thing, eh? I smell a delicious spaghetti sauce cooking downstairs.. ohhh boy - i miss that!

I hate this back pain... seriously. I can't sit for too long and it's achy.. same when i lay down but mostly when i am sitting in this stupid comp chair! I want to exercise but my wounds are still healing and i can't do too much.. booohoo!

My appts were around the holidays so needless to say - when i went back for my appt they were not happy that i had gained like 7lbs. But they told me to please try to lose some of that or they won't schedule a date for me on my next appt. I knew i had to cause it was my last and final appt, when i came back and had lost 8lbs - they were thrilled and set my date. I was nervous but i cut out the soda and only had like one sweet a night lol. My problem is sweets! Ahh, why did they deny you?

I also have a lot of back pain. I think it's because i'm sleeping on my back.. It seems to have started at home when i was sleeping uncomfortably. I hope it'll go away soon... grrr

You don't sound over dramatic at all, lol. I was the total opposite though, I thought i was going to flip out and cry ...etc. But i was so calm, i surprised myself! I was eager and excited, I wasn't at all nervous and they still dripped some anti-anxiety meds in my IV so i was super relaxed before going into the O.R. I was going to write a letter w/ my passwords too! And a little will and sign it and put it in a drawer and tell my brother if i don't come back to read it, lol. But for some reason .. i just didn't. I was way too calm! weird i know, but if it'll make you feel better - you should. The pre op staff are greeeeeeeat. They're going to make you feel at home and you'll do just fine . Yes you'll miss your family & doggie but you will also be loopy and people will constantly check on you - you'll be distracted! I slept A LOT while in the hosp and i was there for an extra day! lol :mad: Good luck tomorrow !!!

So so weird! But i was banded on the EXACT same day and am having the extact same problem, lol. I'm a stomach sleeper and i can't stand to sleep on my back. I am restless and my legs feel fatigue or something. I tried sleeping on my side last night w/ tons of pillows and today i have a lot of pain there. I think tonight i am going to try sleeping on the recliner downstairs.

Hi Madam! We're around the same age, woohoo! I was just banded on the 12th of this month and i am very glad i made this decision. My PCP was very supportive of my decision. I needed her refferal and she was more than happy to push things forward. And don't be afraid to call the hospital and ask that they send you an application. You can do that prior to attending the seminars.. I know i did! It kept things on the ball and i got a call back a couple of days later from the nurse giving me lots of info. Good luck :mad:
