  1. I am happy to hear that I am not alone. I hate giving up my too big jeans and shirts. I think Wheetsin said it right....that it took us a long time to find clothes that fit our chubby bodies....we couldn't just walk into any store and buy something.

Is it me too, that the more form fitting the clothes are, the less secure I feel? I have been longing for a thinner frame and now that I am getting there, it is posing a crisis. Shoot me now!!!

  2. I am a slow loser too.....had my surgery Nov.06 and as of today I am down 57 lbs. I get frustrated sometimes but I feel great and even tho I am not losing pounds I am losing inches because my clothes keep getting bigger. I am going for a fill next week and hopefully I will begin losing again. Everyone is different.....

  3. I absolutely love my Kia Sedona....it is a great value and it rides like a dream. It is light years better than my Ford Aerostar and Windstar. Best vehicle I have ever owned. We will be purchasing a Kia Sportage within the next month. You can't beat the warranty.!

  4. I can't answer if you are at risk with undiagnosed sleep apnea but to answer your question about using the cpap machine, I didn't use it during surgery. I did bring it with me for my overnight stay and it was left up to me as to whether or not I wanted to use it at night. I chose to because I get a better quality sleep and I wanted to start off my recovery on the right foot.

As part of my approval process, I needed to see a pulmonary specialist. Are you required to see one? I would think that he could answer your question much better than anyone else. Good luck to you!

  5. good luck on becoming one of "us".....I also chose not to tell anyone other than my husband and my two sons. For me it was the best decision. As far as eating goes, we go out to dinner with friends and no one really notices what I eat or don't eat. It isn't the problem that you think it is going to be. By the time you are ready to dine with other people, you will be past the liquid and mushie stages. You will be surprised at what people don't notice. On the rare occasion that someone says something, I just tell them that I am finally trying to control my eating habits because I want to live to see my grandchildren and I change the subject. Truthfully, for me, it is not a problem.

have a good journey to lapbandland!

  6. hi friends...

You are all such a wealth of information...Any ideas for me? I was sick last week with a bad flu and from staying in bed for a few days, I really pulled my back out. I usually do a regiment of Aleve for a few days and I am back to normal. But we are not supposed to take ibuprofen or naproxsyn sodium with the band.

Now I know you are all going to say that I need to call the doctor, but is there any over the counter stuff that you can recommend in the meantime? the Tylenol just isn't cutting it and I can barely move. It stinks!

  7. I was fortunate enough to have my insurance cover the entire procedure. I went to the first info seminar in late June 2006 and had surgery Nov. 21, 2006. The wait was for each appointment that the insurance required. Best decision I ever made. Good luck with your journey

  8. I think at some point we have all had the "what have I done" thought but it is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. The weight loss is slow for me, but I can tell you that I don't think about food like I used to and I feel ten thousand times better than I did pre-surgery. I am 48 lbs lighter and for the first time in years, I am actually looking forward to getting out my summer clothes from last year and not worrying about not being able to fit in them! Good luck .....the first week will be hard but you will get thru it.

  9. I also kept my lapband private...too many people like to tell you horror stories they've heard and have since embellished. My husband and two adult sons are the only ones that know. For me, it was the right decision. If you want my two cents, you can always tell later on but you can't "untell"......good luck with your surgery and welcome to the future....
