Hello Ladies, I also had to have documentation of proven diet attempts- 3 within the last 12 months. I used my primary care physician. Since we had discussed weightloss surgery a few years ago, she was glad to help in any way she would. She had been documenting on my bi annual visits that I was trying to loose weight. However for insurance purposes (per my WLS dr's checklist) they have to document what type of diet, what type of exercise and frequency of exercise & of course documented weight. She actually went back and did an addendum for 1 visit last year- only because we never documented my type of exercise, frequency or diet. So we just documented low fat diet and my walking 2- 3 x week for 30 mins to 1 hr. And I got approved when submitted to insurance. Hope this helps.

Question- with shakes and water only diet, can u add some sf jello to the shakes to add more flavor?? & Good Luck with the rest of your pre op diet, u can do it.

Yeah!! I'm so excited, just learned that my insurance approved me on Thursday!! I must say it was a VERY QUICK process for me. I attended the information session on April 6, Met with the Psych Dr on May 10, attended a mandatory support group May 11; Had my last PCP visit May 20 (insurance required 3 documented visits within a 12 month period). I faxed all my paperwork from my PCP's office Friday May 20 to the surgeon's office... and Thursday May 26 was approved. 7 weeks and 1 day! I was a bit confused when I rec'd the call from the Case Manager from my insurance company yesterday asking me all these questions, going over my health history and what to expect during and after surgery. She was acutally the one that told me that I was approved!!! Will be getting my surgery date on Tues when the office reopens. I think what really helped me to get approved so quickly was going over the information package that I rec'd after I attended the information session. I made my PCP Dr appointments the day after the information session- I begged the office to squeeze me in at the end of the day because I needed a visit for the month- they did April 29 last appointment. I also scheduled an appointment for 3 weeks later. And I used my appointment from last year as the 1st documented visit. So that was my 3 visits. I will send the Dr's office bagels. They REALLY worked with me. My PCP actually dictated& printed my last visit while i was still there so that i could have it faxed over. She usually does not dictate until 2- 3 week later!! She knew I needed is like yesterday! I was hoping for end of June date but will take what I can get a this point! I'm on my way to BANDSTER LAND!!! YEAH!!! Wish me Luck!

Thanks for your input. I got my insurance approval yesterday!!! YEAH!!!! I'M SOOOOOO XCITED!! will probably b banded sometime between the end of June or Beginning of August- either way, I'm excited to be banded!

HUH? no driving for 2 weeks? plez tell me that's a rare order- What is the rationale for that?

Hello all, I too have chosen to only tell a few select people. (Just got my insurance approval Yesterday!! YEAH!!) I just dont want the negativity or for others to interject their personal "dr opinions". Perhaps later I will let them know but for now, i want to focus on myself and not defending my choice to others.

Congratulations to all of you!!!! I also just learned that my insurance approved me yesterday!! So will be getting my date on Tuesday when office opens back up!! YEAH!! Only took 7 weeks from initial seminar for approval! Good luck to all of you!

Well I was just informed today that my insurance approval went through on yesterday!!!! So from the initial information session to yesterday was 7 weeks & 1 day. Only problem is I think my surgery date might be Aug 8. Im trying to get it moved up to end of June or Mid July. But Aug is only 8 1/2 weeks away! good luck I was impatient as well. It took imy nsurance 4 days to approve

Thanks for sharing that! I am still waiting for insurance approval but I still like to plan ahead! I was VERY worried about "mushy stage food" really not into that texture- but this sounds good. THX

Hopefully insurance will approve in time- sent in paperwork for approval Friday- fingers crossed, I will be a June bandster!! But hey I will take July! as long as I get my band! lol

You can crush a pill with something that u keep in ur pantry. Put the pill n a ziplock bag, seal it and roll over it with a can of soup, veggies anything; and it will crush it.

Seems like it varies. My Dr is available at the weekly information sessions as well as the support groups. So I have seen him 2x. Will also see him pre op. So that sounds right on track with what everyone else is saying

Ok so this is common. I haven't told that many people, but 1 good friend of mine that i thought would b supportive was SOOOO NEGATIVE!! i was actually shocked at her long, drawn out response! I am NOT telling any of my coworkers because like stated b4- I dont want anymore unlicensed dr advice! Waiting for insurance approval (fingers crossed!)

when did you find out if your stay was sameday or overnight? I am patiently waiting for insurance approval and would like to know as soon as possible- guess i will have to ask surgeon

I tried the Atkins chocolate- didnt taste bad but OMG the gas! umm does this happen with all the shakes?? HELP

I would like to know that too! I am hoping to get m pre-ops done and get schedule by June-July. I have seen Walgreen's with B1G1 all the time- great deal, are they equivalent??
