  1. Hi: I am going through my tests and evaluations and decided to come here to see what everyone was talking about. The more I read, the more discouraged I get. I hear a lot of negatives. Can anyone post something positive about getting the lap band so I don't chicken out and not get it???? thanks

  2. Hi: I am planning on having lap band at the end of May/beginning of June. I went on this site today for the first time and I haven't seen too many happy people and now I am beginning to doubt myself. Can anyone with a good experience please write about it so I won't change my mind??? Thanks.....

  3. So had my psych eval today....it was good....they mentioned a couple of things that I never read anywhere or seen before so I'm seeing if somebody can verify it for me.

1-she said that with this surgery I can't have any sugars....EVER...is that true?

2-she also said that if I ever overeat ONCE I'll rip the band of my stomach....uhh, what?

just seeing what the truths of those 2 statements were

  4. I am on day 4 of the liquid diet. I can say it gets better everyday. The Protein shakes(Im using EAS soy protein) can be alittle hard to get down at times. I have lost almost 10 pds. My surgery is set for April 1st in Dallas/Richardson Texas. I cant wait. I know this diet can be hard but it only helps b/c after you have your new pouch you will not be able to eat like you did before anyways!! Good luck!

  5. I hear you Missy... i have postop tests next week..no surgery date set yet..kind of nervous but I think this is my last ditch effort to lose weight.. been struggling my whole life and now need to do it for myself and my family, especially my 2 year old granddaughter so I can watch her grow up and participate in her life...good luck to you and us all!!

  6. Good morning.

I have been lurking for a few weeks, but had my consultation with my surgeon Friday and decided to join and post! Not only do I qualify (5'7", 256...40 BMI), but my insurance will cover my procedure. I have struggled since childhood, and need to be healthy and ALIVE to help my autistic son for as long as possible.

I am excited at the prospect of having some control. I have not felt hopeful for a really long time! Of course, I am nervous, too. I've never had any surgery and am not sure how I will fare on the pre & post op diets. It frightens me to have my "drug" taken away, and yet....it is the very thing I need to do.

Thank you for this site and the support it has already provided me in this journey!

    Have a wonderful day, all!

    Missy

  7. Hi: I am having my preop tests next week for gastric banding. They will not do surgery on me unless I stop smoking. I quit last week (its been rough but I'm doing it). Does anyone know how low you have to stop smoking before it doesn't show in your blood work?? Has anyone had to quit smoking and how have they handled it?? Thanks
