    My life changing year

You look amazing!!! Thank you so much for the inspiration! I love, love, love seeing people's before and after pics - just makes it crystal clear that the weight WILL come off if we use our sleeve!
  4. I can't believe it has been 3 months already! In the beginning I thought I would never get past what I was feeling the first two weeks - UGH! But lo and behold, here I am three months later and have lost so much weight! I'll try to get some pics posted later so you can see the difference between *before* and *3 months*! A huge thank you to everyone here on the board who has been such a tremendous help throughout this journey!

    NSV, work uniform

What a wonderful thing!!! I totally get where you are at. I keep pulling things out of the closet to wear and when I put them on they fall off! So into the *big* box they go! It's a weird feeling. . .exciting, but weird.
  9. I had my thyroid completely removed 7 years ago because I had thyroid cancer, so I am functioning totally on thyroid meds to keep my body going. I have been on a higher dose of meds for years to keep the cancer from coming back but still couldn't lose weight even though I was technically hyperthyroid. The sleeve has done the trick for me.

    Eating out

I asked my surgeon for one and he said while they used to give them out, they no longer do because they said that the food choices for the kids meals are usually not that healthy and they really don't want people to order the kids meals. He suggested ordering something healthy and taking a to go box and making a couple more meals out of it, which is what I normally do.

    10 weeks out today

You are doing GREAT!!! And it is so nice that you are able to articulate your thoughts and emotions about your weight loss. We are all feeling it. It is definitely the journey of a lifetime! My only regret is that I didn't have this done sooner :-) Keep it up!
  12. I was in terrible condition with the nausea after my surgery and was sorry that I had told a girlfriend that she and her boyfriend could join my husband at the hospital. I was moaning so loud because of the awful nausea and I remember her saying "oh, she's a moaner. . ." and I really didn't appreciate the comments. And I was mortified that anyone besides my husband was seeing me like that. My sister and her husband waited until the 3rd day to come and see me and that was fine. By then my hubby needed a break (he never left my side from Monday through Thursday) so I had them take him out for lunch. He slept in a hard chair for 3 nights - what a trooper.

    New Chapter

Brown Bear: I just finished reading your post and all of the wonderful posts that others left for you as well. We are all in this together. . .all of us have gone through similar feelings and relationships with food. Monday will be my 3 month *sleevaversary* and I cannot believe the difference this surgery has made in my life. My relationship with food as totally changed. It just happens. Once you realize you can't eat very much, pretty soon your brain gets on board too. Thanksgiving was really scary for me because I have historically been able to consume a tremendous amount of food on that day. But this year, I took a small spoonful of everything I wanted and put it on my plate. My hubby said "that's alot of food for you, are you going to be ok?" I ate slowly and over the course of about 2 hours was able to have everything I wanted - but it was a tiny fraction of what I would have normally eaten - it was just more than the 2-3 oz he was used to seeing me eat. It was fine and I was "Thanksgiving full" just like everyone else. Thanksgiving finally made me realize that I was really going to be ok with food. It's been an amazing journey and I feel so in control now - not like before when I would overeat and then think "what have I done to myself?". I am so utterly thrilled with my sleeve (and I had a really tough first two weeks) that everytime I see someone that is overweight I want to tell them about the sleeve!(I don't, of course, but I sure want to!) I have been battling weight all my life . . . I would have given anything to be able to have this done at 25 instead of 57 :-) Keep in touch with all of us and let us know how your surgery goes! You'll be so excited once you are on the other side! I promise!
  19. I will celebrate my 3 month *sleevaversary* on Monday and am down 49 pounds so I am right there with you! Such a great feeling! Congratulations on your success! Let's DO this!

    Average weight loss

Not sure how long it has been since your surgery but at 8 weeks my doctor told me I needed to bump up my calories to 1000-1200 per day or else I would stop losing weight because my body was in starvation mode. They also told me that 1.5 pounds per week after the first few weeks is what they strive for in a good healthy weight loss.
  24. Great article! I've actually noticed that in Texas is the only place that I travel to where they actually have billboards for the sleeve and not just the lap band. Here in SoCal, all you see every few yards is lap band billboard. . .UGH!
  25. I didn't really have any significant pain past the first day. In fact, they were getting ready to give me morphine and I stopped them. My biggest problem was the God awful nausea! It was the worst I had ever experienced in my life but I know it was because I had had chronic nausea for 7 years prior to my surgery. I never really had too much of the gassy feeling. The good news is that after about 2-3 weeks the nausea went away and it has never come back!
