  1. Glad you are doing better. Did they give you anything for the gas? I've read that alot of people are taking GasX.

  2. I'm really worried too about hair loss. My hair is very fine and thin and you can already see my scalp on the top of my head and I am forever trying to do my hair so that it doesn't show as much. If I lose any hair at all I will definitely have bald spots. I guess I'd better start shopping for a good quality wig right now. . . Any suggestions on where to find good natural looking wigs?

From everything that I saw with regards to the band from the surgeons at Kaiser, I would NEVER consider the band. Take a look at how many on this forum alone are band to sleeve revisions. Too many problems with the band. Lots of success with the sleeve.
  4. My regular e-mail seems to be down for some reason so wanted to make sure to check in with you to see how you are doing! Are things getting better now that you are over a week out? Thinking of you. . .

  5. What an inspiration!!! I have 22 more days until surgery and I am really getting nervous! So seeing success stories like your are really inspirational! Great job - you look fabulous!
  6. I will be traveling in week 6 after my VSG. And the worst part is that I am doing the West Coast to East Coast jaunt so there will be a whole day either in the air or at airports. Without being able to take any protein drinks with me because of the restrictions, can anyone give me a clue of what to expect to be able to eat at that point? Not real sure where the food selection is at 6 weeks. I just want to be able to plan ahead so I'm not freaking out! I will pack plenty of protein drinks in my luggage but I'm more concerned about the two travel days there and back.
  7. Thank you Susan. I didn't realize that there was a possibility to be on a full diet by then. I've seen so many different time lines.
  8. Thanks for the encouragement. My pre-op diet will only be for two days. I guess that's how Kaiser does it here. I'll check out the Edy's :-)

  9. Absolutely amazing! I hope I do half as well as you are doing! I am really looking forward to this. . .

I'm trying to get some weight off before my consult on the 17th. . .ugh. . .nothing seems to want to budge. . .

Newbie Here Sleeved 9 days post op!!!

Congratulations Shalise! You are going to experience a whole new life now! I'm so proud of you that you had the courage to do this at such a young age! Keep us updated on your journey!
  17. I hope you know how inspirational you are to all of us here! Your success is amazing and it truly inspires me to follow right in your footsteps. . .LOL! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and provide hope to all of us waiting for our day!
  18. I am trying to plan ahead. How long did it take for you all to go back to work? My job isn't necessarily strenous but I drive 140 miles roundtrip to work each day (4 days a week - on Fridays I work from home). I am figuring maybe working from home for 4 weeks after my surgery but am trying to be realistic as to how much time I should actually take as PTO and how much time simply working from home. Any suggestions?
  19. Thanks everyone! I know everyone is different but this is helping me to plan my time :-)
  20. Oh my goodness! You've lost 40 lbs in 3 weeks?? Wow! Congrats! I only hope I can do that well in such a short period of time! Amazing!

    Breasts:

I had a breast reduction in 1989 and went from a 38DDD to a 36C. I remember going into the surgery thinking that it was going to be the most painful thing ever because a girlfriend had it done and said that when she woke up it felt like a semi-truck had run her over. Because I went into it thinking the worst, I think I was pleasantly surprised that the pain was nothing that a Tylenol didn't help with. I remember my doctor telling me that it would be a good 6 months before all of the tissue healed etc. About a year after the original surgery I went in for a scar revision because I didn't like the scarring under my breasts. With the revision I was really careful not to move or stretch for at least 6 weeks and the second time I healed really well. Now that I've gained 80 lbs since then, I have no idea what I will end up looking like when I lose this weight. They certainly won't be the perky things that I used to have. . .LOL! P.S. By the way, before the surgery my surgeon told me to look at some Playboy magazines and pick out the breasts that I wanted. Funny how you would think they all look good until you really start scrutinizing them. I picked out a pair and low and behold, that's what I got!
  23. I just read your fabulous letter! Did they approve your surgery?
