    The June Bug Challenge

Checking in today, 219.2, down 2 lbs from last week. Missed my overall weight goal but still down 6 lbs this month, so I'm happy. Also on Saturday I rode my bike just over 11 miles which beat my fitness goal by a mile. 19.3 lbs to onederland.
  2. Call your Dr if it will make you feel better but from what I've read if you can keep food and liquids down you're fine. Just go back to what you're supposed to be doing. Your stomach is still healing and it needs to not be working that hard.

    Who Knew, Corn?

I have issues with really soft foods like squash, I think just don't chew them enough.

    TOM Question

Hello, weight changes can definitely cause Aunt Flo to be late or to even skip a month. I'll bet you're just late. If it gets to be an issue see your gyno and they can help. Even better they can give you a shot to keep it away for months.

    Just need to vent.....

I have 6cc in my band so it's very possible that you don't have enough in your band. I had good restriction at 5ccs better now with 6ccs. Also remember to check and see if you are having head hunger or body hunger and stop eating when you are satisfied and don't wait for full.

    Savory Please

I eat a lot of refried beans with broth added to loosen them up. They don't look all that great but if you crave Tex-Mex, add a little jalepeno before blending and fat free sour cream on top.

    SOFT FOOD IDEAS....

I cried when my Dr said I could go to mushies! I had dreamed about chicken salad. I had a fill last week and am still on liquids and mushies. Today I'm doing the ham salad version of my recipe. Tomorrow I will try it with grilled chicken.
  8. I use my plate on livestrong.com you can track water, fitness, nutrition, calories, and get good articles. Of course I am biased seeing livestrong is headquartered inAustin, TX and Igrew up here. I really Ike the site and one of my goals is to complete the shortest leg of the live strong challenge, 40 mile bike ride.
  9. I got my hair cut and put on a blue dress that had a cinch waist. My best friend didn't recognize me. Now that dress is too big.

    SOFT FOOD IDEAS....

I made homemade apple sauce. Cut up over ripe apples put in a pan with a little water cook until they are soft, turn the heat down and cook until they start to caramelize a bit. Throw in a blender. I also added cinnamon to it. Yummy! I did a lot of chicken salad well blended. Canned chicken with light mayo and dill relish in a blender. Go a bit heavy on the mayo at first to help it slide. FYI you can add unflavored protein powder to both.

    Sweating

I'm with Cindy, I used to be hot all the time, now I'm freezing even with heat. The good news my a/c bill is really low.

    ? Am I to full?

I'm in the same boat, my fill was wednesday. I was pretty good until yesterday. I had ham for lunch and then some tomato. The tomato made my stomach acidy. I'm trying prilosec first seeing I didn't have a problem at first. Im not hungry at all and only threw up today when tried to eat yogurt while still sort of stuck. Protien shakes go down fine so I'm not starving.

    Christian bandsters

I think we both saw the same post! How great to find somewhere I can type the word PRAYER without having to preface it. Praise be to Our Lord Jesus Christ for my band and all of ya'll. Amen Hallelulia!
  15. I started with my insurance company they gave a list of doctors and I visited one and liked him so much I went with him. I also knew people who had had the surgery and talked to them. If you look on this site there is a place where people talk about the docs in their area. That would be good to. Make sure that whoever you go to will help educate you and support you and not just do the surgery. The best surgeons have a staff that supports and educates you. If you can talk to people who have had surgery with your doc before you choose and not just the people at the seminar.
  16. The funny thing is I don't really see all the negativity. I see people with questions and in pain but that's what this for. I come from AA so frankly this seems pretty normal to me. At least when we go off the wagon we won't accidentally kill someone or go to jail. I see all this as normal. Even the people who aren't successful at this at this time can still be successful later. Most people don't beat an addiction their first time out. As someone who so far has been pretty successful I think I have duty to come back and do for others what was done for me. Keep me from freaking out when I got stuck or was so hungry I wanted to eat my left arm. It's not magic, it's a process and as we go along we will all fall and get frustrated or have a bad day and say the wrong thing. Just be patient, if someone posts really negative stuff try to feel sympathy for them, help them if you can and pray for them if you feel so inclined.

    Whey Protein Isolate Allergy

I had to stick to soy or hemp protein. Don't try it again. Hives can progress to having trouble breathing.

    Picking a goal weight

Hi all, I started at 278 and my doc wants me to get to 140, I would be happy with 150 which for me is just under a bmi of25. However along the way I celebrate each 10 lbs lost. At 40 lbs I got a new hairstyle, at 50 I got a bike, at 60, which will be this week I will either treat my self to a day of shopping or a day at an auction. I think my next goal will be onederland and for that I need something BIG! I don't know what yet. I keep hoping my mother will sign me up for What not to Wear so I can get a new wardrobe and a trip to NYC.

FYI I typed us, not Hewitt, I love autocorrect

    Stuck!

My suggestion is to eat mushies for a few days and hot drinks it helps with any swelling. It happens to most of Hewitt no lasting effect other than to reinforce eating slowly and chew, chew, chew!

    Can anyone help me?

G-ma, just like for anyone, we only lose weight if we consume less than we burn. A nutritionist who specializes in bariatrics is a great place to start, especially someone who knows lap band. I imagine you spent a bunch of money getting the band so it would be worth getting the help. I also can't eat in the AM so I drink a protein shake, it gets me started on my protein and keeps me from getting too hungry later. Do you know for sure you are getting at least 70 gms of protein, 64oz of water, and my doc has me eat less than 1200 cals a day. On top of that I get between 1/2 hour and 1 hour of exercise a day. There is no magic to this, it's hard work.

    Can anyone help me?

I use daily plate on live strong.com to keep track of my calories, water, protein, carbs and weight. I also track my exercise. I have to see it in black and white. I've lost almost 60 lbs total and 41 lbs since surgery in March. Are you following your doctors instructions? Didn't they send you to a nutritionist before surgery?

    Help! Need to Understand

You might want to try something like Isopure. It's a clear protein drink. You can get it at GNC. I liked the fruit punch best.
  25. I've told everyone. In part because I live in a small town and if they don't know what's gong on they make it up but also because I want people who are overweight to know. I know now that most of the people I thought did it on their own actually did it with surgery. If I had known that I would have done this years ago. I don't give everyone the details of what I eat or how much I've lost, I onlyreallygive details to those who are close to me or I think could benefit.
