    Who are you??

Hi my name is Susan. I am 46 years old and I have been overweight since 1991 when I had breast cancer at the age of 26. I also miscarried a baby at the same time and instead of dealing with it I turned to drugs and food. I have been clean for over 15 years and am ready to get on with my life. I am a member of an order in the Catholic church called the Franciscans. But we are a secular order so I live in my own home and work a regular job with a great company called National Instruments. I have taken private vows so I am considered married in eyes of the Church. I'm a diabetic and it was getting harder to get my blood sugar under control. I've been saving for retirement and I wanted to actually retire some day. I Alamo own an antique store with my parents and love auctions. I trained for 5 years as a bookbinder and also make a little money binding editions and repairing books. If you want to see what I do try Made in Smithville on facebook. I live in a small town where Hope Floats the movie was made and we have two new movies coming out soon, Tree of Life with Brad Pitt and Doonby with Jphn Sneider coming out in next month or so. Everyone knows I had lap band surgery. I had to tell them or they would make something up. My mother once went to emergency room for what turned to be indigestion but the rumor was that she had secretly gone to Austin for heart surgery. Better to tell them what is really going on. I was banded 2 weeks ago and have lost 31 lbs since my first dr appt and 15 since surgery. I have 2 cats and a dog. I am very close to my sister and her 4 kids, literally, they live down the street!

    Post surgery diet suggestions

That might be gas and not really hunger. If the docks letting you have oprotein shakes see if he will let you get some unflavored protein powder and blend that with crystal light. It's really good if you make crystal light ice cubes and blend really well in a blender. But do what you doc says. Keep in mind this stage doesnt last forever.
  3. I'm tired and can't type. Plus autocorrect keeps changing what I type. I see dr ganta in Austin. Stupid autocorrect changed ganta to gnat.
  4. Sorry austin, not Houston. I see dr gnat in austn.
  5. Does he have an office in Houston too. If he does then that's my doc too. He isn't a big talker but he is a great dr and very nice.
  6. I know it's hard and the first day after surgery, or really 3 days all I could do is shuffle around the neighborhood but it really heklpsk with the gas. The pain meds I took only took the edge off. The first few days I just slept, drank, and walked all day. It gets better pretty quickly. Take your temp each day to look for fever. Welcome to our band!

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi all, I went back to work today. I've lost 14lbs since I was banded on march 25. I'm still on liquids but I'm having trouble with either getting stuck or overfull. I can't tell which it is. I am so afraid of stretching or slipping. I see the doc on Wednesday so I hope I can move to full liquids soon. I actually have apples to make homemade apple sauce (no sugar added) as soon as I get the go ahead. Also already have soup. Who thought I'dbe fantisysing about getting to pureed chicken?

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Man I hate autocorrect. I didn't mean derided. I meant detoxed. How it gets derided from detox I'll never know.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I wanted to say that I really feel great even though I am hungry. Sort of like I've derided from my drug of choice. I feel good.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Today is day 9 for me. Earlier this week I dropped 5 lbs in one day but next day I put 2 back on and since then nothing. I'm not discouraged though. I've not had any problems with being stuck until yesterday. I didn't drink enough the day before and was dehydrated. The water kept getting stuck. I was at an antique show, I am a dealer, so I had to sip a little and walk a little, sip a little and walk a little. It finally got better last night. When I woke up this morning I had veRy low blood sugar but I don't know why. Its better now but I keep going low. I'm not taking my meds right now on Drs orders to keep this from happening. Has anyone else had this? I've never woken up with low blood sugars before either

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi all, I was banded exactly one week ago. I have friends who had this done and they recommended gas-x and as much walking as possible. Day 2 and 3 were hard but day 4 was much better and now I'm fine. I still get tired. But I can do more longer. I've been getting hungry so today I got some unflavored protein powder and mixed it with crystal light and thats better than Isopure. I don't get full liquids for another week. I kind of dread going back to work and facing all food smells.
  13. My Dr. Has me on a strict clear liquid diet for 2 weeks post op. In the first week I've been losing 1 to2 lbs a day. Yesterday I lost 5.2 lbs in one day. I was starving all day. I even thought about having some yogurt last night but didn't. I know I didn't burn 15000 calories yesterday. Does 5 lbs in a day seem like too much. I left a message for my Dr but today is surgery day for him.
  14. Remember 15 lbs is 15 lbs. Go to the store and look at 15 packages of butter and realize you already lost that. Good for you and welcome back.
  15. I wonder why the diets vary so much from Dr to Dr? I'm one week out from surgery and on clear liquids only. I've lost 8 lbs since surgery but I feel like I could eat the hind end of a horse. I have a week to go one this insane diet but I'm actually afraid that when I can eat real food I'll quit loseing.

    WOO HOO!!!

The idea of not having to buy my clothes in " special" store seems wonderful to me. I love vintage clothes and can't wait to fit into a nice early 60's cocktail dress.
