  1. I don't care for Premier, I prefer either Unjury or Muscle MIlk like pre-mixed. however, i know there are a TON of brands out there. for ME, Premier were too thick. I like a thinner shake much more, and with ice and extra milk added to it!

    Benched by orthopedic

another bursitis person here...right hip too! it flares up when i push myself WAY to much. i started running last week after NO running since 2000, and it flared right up on que. i was in SERIOUS pain for several days. heating pad, icy hot, ice packs, and rest did the trick...
  4. i am in the same boat. i am 4 months out and starting to see that i can tolerate a little more food than i hoped i would. my doc told me that "the first 5-6 months, the surgery does the work. after that, YOU do the work"... i am definitely joining a gym. i didn't get this far to stall out or worse yet, be done. i figure i have a solid 2 months left to really get this weight moving, and i have 30 lbs to go until goal. it's not coming off as fast as i had hoped it would, and i too have been very patient and willing to lose slowly, but now i'm seeing that i'm going to have to start upping my game a bit. good luck!
  5. Truly after reading these posts I don't think i take many at all! upon waking: 1 BP med, 1 PPI, Biotin, B complex, chewable bariatric multi vit 2 chewable calcium citrate with each meal 1 BP med with dinner that's it! bloodwork is all good (so far)...
  6. I stumbled upon canned lentils at Wal-Mart and I was so happy! i love them but don't want to cook if i can avoid it. throwing in about 3 TBSP leftover cooked orzo from kid's lunch, also red onion, bell pepper, cukes, garlic lemon juice, and fresh tomato. YUM!

    Barretts disease

i had moderate Barrett's was diagnosed in 2004. it was the ONLY positive barrett's biopsy i ever had, every year after that was negative once i was on the right meds and the reflux was stopped... had a sleeve done in June of this year. reflux is all but gone.
  8. i did not join PF after all, they told me they don't really do much with strength and that their focus is on fitness only. HUH? i have been online looking at the Beachbody stuff and this might be a good option to start at home with a regimen. anybody have good recommendations on any of their programs? i am VERY new and very much a beginner, and just starting to get in shape after losing 55 lbs (so far, i have 35 to go). i walk daily so i am looking more for a training program for strength and don't want anything that i will turn off after 4-5 minutes because it's killing me. thanks!

  11. hi all- i really am interested in doing some good training to tone and gain strength, especially because i have early bone loss in my spine and want to delay any onset of osteoporosis. also, i don't want to be this thin little woman who is weak and has sagging, i want to be STRONG and buff, and have taught skin. are there ANY options other than going to a gym? i have tons of DVDs but i'm pretty sure that all the aerobic in the world won't tone and make me buff like a good old fashioned weight lifting session. there is a Planet Fitness on the other side of my town, and i hate the idea of driving there every day, but i will do what i have to do for my longterm. thoughts?

    Failing my sleeve

i am 14 wks out tomorrow and have found myself getting a bit lax over the last 2 weeks. I too had to sit down and re-focus my goals and get my butt going again. the first thing i did was spend the weekend filling bags of clothes that are now TOO BIG! WHOOP!! i never thought i would see that happen. the next thing i did was get an outfit out that was my "GOAL" outfit that i bought several months before my surgery and i guess i underestimated myself because it JUST about fits already! i realize now that i have to set an even lower goal for size and go out and get a NEW goal outfit! it will hang on my bedroom door until it fits. next i sat down and looked over my food diaries, my nutrition sheets, etc from my pre-op nutrition counseling sessions. i have 2 kids also and they are my total goal. seeing them grow up and marry, have their own kids, etc. lastly, I just ordered 2 canisters of unjury so that i can once again start EVERY day with an Unjury shake (not some questionable brand from the 7-11 or walmart) AND i'm about to go and start a cooking marathon to prepare food for the ENTIRE week to take to work for lunches. PLAN AND PREPARE are my tools for this week. i wish you luck!
  13. i am on to regular foods of all types and tolerating everything i eat. in fact, i sometimes think i am doing TOO well because i can eat decent amounts too and i think that i could very easily overeat. however, i want to be able to cook things that will specifically still help me to burn off weight and keep moving downward on the scale. the first 38 pounds went easily, but now at 8 wks out the scale is slowing down a lot. joining a gym this weekend too.. so...on "regular" foods, what are some of your favorite things to eat??? i want to have lots of options so i can cook on the weekends and then pack little lunches in a big lunchbag to take to work for the entire week.
  14. hey all- just looking for thoughts and opinions about PF and the workouts there. also are there trainers on staff who can design a 'program' for you? my family was going to join the Y this week but turns out it is a LOT more money than we expected. really disappointed because on top of the $85 a month family fee, it's $45 for 6 wks of swimming lessons for each kid, another $35 for me to attend yoga, another $35 for tai chi, etc. you get the picture...MONEY galore. we just can't afford that right now. so the next option is the PF in town. it's in a mall, so a little bit intimidating with gawkers, but they do a good job of shielding... also are there classes to do, or group workouts? ***is the place weight-lifting focused or more of just a cardio-focused place??? i already get cardio at the gym at work and specifically need weight/resistance for early-onset osteoporosis. lastly is it a year contract or monthly or how does that work? THANKS!
  15. no, not shakology. they have entire lines of various fitness/srength programs like brazil butt lift, slim in 6, body beast, Px90 1-3, etc. i am looking for anybody who has used any of these programs to give me some reviews on their programs which they liked the best and why. i don't need shakes for weight loss. i had bariatric surgery...

    Planet Fitness- reviews/?

i went in and asked for a DETAILED tour this past weekend. prior to that i had been in just to look around. they guy that gave me the tour just focused over and over on the treadmills, arc trainers and ellipticals. there was ONE person in the weight area. i asked him if he could take me in that area and tell me about their weight/strength training programs and he told me that they 'didn't really do much with that stuff'. i told him i was really interested in getting started in lifting and building and the response i got was less than awesome...in fact, what i was told is that the focus there is more about 'fitness' and not so much about muscle. HUH??????? i was SUPER disappointed. i didn't join after all. i STILL am trying to figure out something at home to do and i have found a couple of really good programs from BeachBody so i'll likely go with one of those for now.
  17. i am 13 wks out and just starting to notice more strands than normal coming out, but nothing scary yet. i use Nioxin every day and doing the Biotin thing too. if it really starts going i plan to cut is very short, like pixie short and maybe i'll grow it back, maybe not!
  18. mi75

    Hair Loss!

i take Biotin, zinc AND i use Nioxin shampoo/conditioner. i do it all. but, at 13 wks out i am noticing that my hair is getting a little lifeless and i THINK i am starting the loss stage. i plan to cut it. like Pixie short. just cut it off. and i'm done. i want to look SMOKIN hot and i'm only 35 lbs from goal at this point, so i'm ok with just cutting it off.

    When can I eat rice

i am 13 wks out and on all foods since week 8. i have had rice a few times. the issue for ME is that there is so little room and rice can take up a lot of it. i use about 1 TBSP with 1/2 cup of chinese for my lunch. that's it. no more. i have found that my tastes for most starchy carbs is really dull now.
  20. i took the calcium chews for a while however they are calcium carbonate so i switched to citrical gummies
  21. hi all, i have taken the tour, asked all the questions and i am ready to start at an entry level gym. i think PF is good for me as i learn to be comfortable in a gym, how to use the equipment, etc.. and the cost is right for me. BUT, i really want to become a lifter, which means that eventually i will want to graduate to a 'real' gym and i've read online a LOT of stuff about how PF gave people issues cancelling their memberships when they wanted to. i plan to just get the basic $10/mth option with no contract. anybody had big issues with them, problems, etc? i don't want to have to fight to end my membership down the road when i'm ready.

    Protein supplements?!

i am a die hard Muscle MIlk Lite drinker (pre-mixed) and Quest bar eater. i have tried a LOT of the Protein options out there, these two are about the only ones i really care for at all. i saw at wal-greens the other day they had these little packs of gummies that are protein but i didn't buy them because i have been so finicky about my Proteins i was afraid i wouldn't like them!
