Just about 10 months post op- how can i jump start the scale again?
mi75 replied to mi75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
however i have not been working out. not like i should for the past few months. as a result, the intake that i have in calories is not being burned appropriately. i know this is the main reason the scale isn't moving. taking responsibility and recognizing my own slips, i am getting back on track. i have been avoiding joining a new gym, however i think that this current scenario is motivation to RUN to the new one in town and give it a try! i am also thinking that after a couple weeks of adjusting calories and working out, if the scale continues to stay still, i am going to have an appt with my nut to see what she can suggest. -

Just about 10 months post op- how can i jump start the scale again?

all good advice. thanks to all! -
i can't believe how dis-proportionate i am right now. really badly. i am wearing size XL shirts, and bought some elastic waist capri pants last weekend size medium. they fit pretty well, but i still have this stupid belly roll taking up space. trying to really increase my activity and get my cals down by 100 a day (currently at 1000 daily). nothing really severe or stupid, just going back to some basic things to get that scale moving again, and try to decrease the 'roll' to a 'small muffin'! lol...btw, was a size 2x pants last year, and easily 2x shirt was pretty snug.

right there too. 9 months out now, scale has barely moved since 7 months post op. at about 1000 cals daily. haven't been exercising as much as i want to. trying to increase that. coming here every day to check in. good acccountability

Would love to know ppl's losses in first 6 months?
mi75 replied to Hertsukfem31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
at six months i was down about 65 lbs, in a major stall (lasted 2 months) but scale moving again nicely and with 3 months to go until my 1 year mark, i have 19 lbs to go... -
LOVE it! I am walking around work with a fleece zip up coat on ALL day since surgery.. And FINALLY, i HAD to go shopping when my pants actually DID fall down (at work, i wear scrubs and was able to catch them before anybody got a show)...only got two new pairs, still counting on dropping another couple of sizes!

mi75 replied to lemonpoppyseed2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i am 9 month out and have found myself slipping too. it seems to get a lot easier to eat as time goes on. go back to basics, measure, weigh, etc. use small plates, bowls. cut carbs WAY back. i have done this and it really helps. also, keep coming to these forums and check in. being here is a good accountability tool. good luck! -
Ah! Penny! Why?!?!?(My 600 lb life)
mi75 replied to Kramer17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LOVE the show. I have watched from the very beginning...mini-marathon on TODAY and starting at 2pm my time. i use this show as ongoing support and encouragement. i have told my hubs i wish i could get the DVDs of the series to watch every couple of months to keep me focused. i would say the show is not scripted, the people all seem very real, their struggles are very real, and for sure, Dr Nowzartan is pretty real! ( i have secretly wondered if any of the 600 lb life people were on these forums??) -
i have been fighting a terrible upper respiratory infection for several weeks and my doc has now given me a burst of steroids plus antibiotic. i am feeling incredibly better, but the steroids are seriously stimulating my appetite. i am eating NON stop and have gained 1.5 lbs. GRRRR. only 2 days left, then i'm going to have to work extra hard to lose these couple of found pounds, plus stay on my losing track! anyone else ever had to take steroids during losing phase?

How many people kept Weight Loss Surgery a secret ?
mi75 replied to shorty54's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i shared it with my co-workers, parents and very close friends. ironically, i have kept it from all other family and friends. looking back, i sorta wish i would have not told any co-workers either. -
Frozen meals - lean cuisine weight watchers...
mi75 replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
i have used them twice in a serious pinch...if i don't plan for lunch before i leave for work in the AM, i am forced to leave my office at lunch. we have had two MASSIVE snow storms this winter and there was NO WAY i was leaving my office. two co-workers offered my their frozen meals on those days and i thankfully accepted. one was the chicken Santa Fe, the other was swedish meatballs. both tasted pretty good. i know they were more calories than i would have allotted for the Protein involved. i have pretty much steered clear of all processed stuff. i am almost a year out and trying very hard to get off the last 19 lbs to goal. i am sticking as close to my post-op plan as i can. good luck! -
How often do you weigh yourself?
mi75 replied to gilit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
still in loss phase. during the first 6-7 months post op, i weighed EVERY DAY. religiously. now i'm in a very busy semester of grad school and my attention has been focused on classwork. i am weighing about twice a week right now. i will be a year out in june and then will weigh weekly. hopefully i will hit goal before then, and my weekly weigh in will be just to keep me on track! -

Still carrying a lot of abdominal weight
mi75 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always carried a LOT of my weight in front, and used to be asked all the time 'when are you due'. i am feeling really good and down almost 70 lbs, 7 months out. i am still frustrated because even though it's a LOT less than it was, there is still a lot of belly fat on me. i have lost everywhere, including my belly, but it's still quite visable. it's not just skin either, there is still a solid spare tire there. any suggestions? i am seeing the surgeon soon and going to see if he has any suggestions. i have only about 20 lbs to go until my personal goal. thanks! -
I watch too. It was sickening for me to see all those coupon 'savings' made while buying boxes of cake mixes, processed junk, and NOTHING useful for bariatric patients. I really get the impression that she simply was NOT ready for the surgery and just knew what to say to pass through the qualifying process. it is NOT a magic pill, and requires a LOT of work, and the bigger you are, the more work it requires. How sad that this was the outcome.

Welcome to the Popular Diet Forum!
mi75 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
My surgeon told me that at goal, i could use either Zone or South Beach to help maintain...ironically, when I decided to go ahead with surgery, I donated ALL the Zone books I had and tucked my South Beach into the basement. Got those out now, there are some great recipes that I am able to use right now! -
NCIS LA reruns, Burn Notice reruns, and ALL things HGTV, also My 600 lb life-where are they now. grad student AND two kids. we watch TV when we wake up at 5am, and then MAYBE catch something at night, but no time to make a real commitment to any series!

in the same boat. big stall for last 5-6 wks. getting 60-65 gram protein daily also. my workouts had stalled so picked that back up this week. hang in there. the scale will start moving again. someone else recommended to me that if this continued, maybe to get an appt with my nut for a diet review. may consider that...

i went back to oral contraceptives. it remains a good option for me since I still have some form of PCOS (but it's fading quickly according to bloodwork and ultrasound!). my surgeon warned me to avoid Depo because of the potential weight gain with it, and ultimately left it up to my OB-Gyn who helped me make an informed decision.

7 months out- hit a big wall. Not losing at all
mi75 replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
THANK YOU to everyone. this all makes me feel a LOT better! just to clarify, i should have mentioned that i exercise at work, and it's just cardio. i take 2 breaks a day (15 min each) to hit the treadmill and stairclimber. i'm not obsessed with exercise, just have to do it twice a day to get any sort of momentum! i will take everyone's words to heart, and all the good advice too. i FEEL fantastic and only have about 20-25 lbs to get to my overall goal, so i'm feeling a new motivation. thanks!!! -
estrogen is stored in fat. when you start to lose that fat, you have all that excess estrogen just floating around in your body. mine got much heavier too. my OB-Gyn told me that as i continue to lose and eventually level off, it should improve...
