Maggie- what liquid form?
-
-
I have just been prescribed metformin er for insulin resistance and I'm very concerned this will get stuck! Apparently there isn't a liquid form. Anyone take this without any problems???
-
Jenn - did you discuss the size of the pills with thrm or are you taking the non extended release ones? I'm tempted to just try these bc my pharmacist looked up Riomet, which is a liquid form, and its unavailable from the manufacturers. I really need these meds just not sure my band will react well.

I think that is what I'm going to have to do. I submerged the pill in Water to see how fast it dissolved and it is still in pill form. It looks like it'll sit in my pouch all day which is not going to work. Ill have to get him to write me another script for something else.

Ok so I used to be pretty active in this forum before and after my band. I'm doing well and going on about 2 1/2 years of being banded. I've lost 63 lbs, im sure my profile says something different as I have haven't updated Ina while. But anyway, my husband and I have been desperately trying to have a baby and just started seeing a fertility specialist, who determined that I'm insulin resistant, which is affecting the quality of my eggs. He Rx'd metformin. Well I just picked them up and they are HUGE! The pharmacist said that there is no liquid form and its extended release so I can't break it up. They seem pretty chalky which usually means it'll dissolve quickly but I'm concerned it will get stuck. Anyone take this without any problems?

I agree with the second opinion. I had a very large hiatal hernia fixed during lap band surgery.

I waited about 4 weeks and I'm still here, Lapband is great and I'm down 51 lbs. Surgery was 10/27. I also love my beer and my surgeon fave me the empty calories speech but also said I should enjoy these vices, in moderation. He said some people can handle carbonation, other can't. I CAN! ! ! SO YAY. I think to have a drink, as long add you feel good would be fine. Just listen to your body.

i get my liquid tylenol at CVS drug store. i buy like 3 or 4 at a time (only place that i know of)....can you crush them and put in applesauce or something?
I can't do the crush thing or let it dissolve in my mouth.. .cvs has liquid Tylenol? Adult liquid Tylenol?? ?
-
Ya, that just makes me vomit.
-
OK, what do you do for instances that require Tylenol?? ? I can no longer swallow pills. I used tip be an avid aleve taker for my TOM and terrible headaches! But, since nsaids are a no no, and I cannot find any liquid adult Tylenol,I just tough it out and it sucks. I've considered contracting my doctor to see if he can rx me something liquid because I'm not sure how much longer I can take this. My TOM IS so bad these days I need something for pain.

I was banded 10/27 and I've only been stuck once. I only have 5.8cc in my band abs am in the green zone. I do feel pressure and that's when I stop eating. Sometimes its uncomfortable but I don't think its being stuck per say. I also don't get sick. I hear a lot of horror stories, which is probably why I don't like being real tight.

I had my surgery with true results, in Houston, tx. They were great before and with follow up. They took care of everything just told me when to show up. I highly recommend them.

I felt I had a pretty simple recovery as well. I was sore but I expected a lot worse. I'm sure everyone heals at different paces but mine was pretty good.

I was at 40 too when I started and my doc advised me to not lose an ounce or I wouldn't be qualified. I know that's counterproductive for the 6month supervised diet but.. .it worked! I was approved at first submission.

I have this problem. If I get anything larger than. 5 cc at a time I swell up like crazy and can't get anything down. I have 5cc total after 6 fills and 2 unfills where they tried to be more aggressive. I may about 8 months out. I go in for another in 2 weeks and I'll probably only do like .25. Everyone its different.
-
Thanks for your responses. I think I will go in for a small fill but I can typically only get. 5 at a time bagged I'm very sensitive and swell shut at anything higher. Maybe I'll just get life half that and see how it goes. Glad to hear this is normal for y'all . Inconsistencies make me worry.

Ok, I'm starting to get a little confused here. This last fill did me real good. I was very tight, almost too tight for my liking. I was definately in the green zone, maybe a Dark Green per some other posts I've read. So, I'm used to being very tight one day, and then pretty loose the next. I understand the concept of stress, Water, salt, TOM, etc. giving me added tightness. So, on 6/18 i had a scheduled fill. I canceled that because I had been pretty tight. For the past week or so, I've been pretty consistently loose so I scheduled another fill for 7/9, a small one though. Now tonight, I'm eating tuna, which NEVER bothers me, and its taken me real slow eating it. I mean real slow and I can feel myself tightening up again. Sooooo....is this normal for the green zone? Should I not go in for my fill? I really don't like to be too tight where I can't tolerate lean Proteins, such as white chicken, lean turkey, eggs, etc. When i'm that tight that its a pain to eat, i find myself turning to slider foods. I do much better with eating healthy in MY green zone, which is probably on the looser end of the green zone. So if you were going back and forth on tightness, would you get a fill or wait it out some more?
-
Fill 6 for me too! I was pretty tight for two months and then I loosened up a bit. Going in for fill #7 in two weeks but it'll be a small one.

My doc told me that all drinks just slide right through because, well, its a liquid and won't accumulate in your pouch. So, having carbonation will not alter, stretch, our ruin your pouch. Although, some people find discomfort with carbonation and just to listen to my body. I, too, enjoy local craft beer and luckily, it does not bother me at all so I still enjoy my lovely beer on occasion. I know other docs say differently but I trust my doc and his logic makes sense to me so that's what I follow.

I'm taking it for fertility issues, as I have insulin resistance and it affects your eggs. I do nit have pcos or diabetes. I've found a pharmacy that can get the liquid form, which is Riomet, and ill start it on Monday. My first pharmacy said it was unavailable do I thought it was off the market but I guess that's not the case. Thanks all for your input!
