  1. Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit sadden because I may end up with the gastric bypass by the end of the month (Nov). :(

My acid reflux has been given quite a bit of trouble lately. Two weeks ago, I had the upper endoscopy (biopsy) done and found a hital hernia and ulcers. My doctors are recommending the gastric bypass to ensure my esophagus/reflux does not get any worse and for long term care.

I am afraid because I tend to forget my Vitamins. I hate taking pills. I have been using chewables, but even then... I'm forgetful. I get the final word by the end of next week to proceed.

I don't regret ever having the sleeve, it definitely improved my health & my life. Thanks for listening, Irene

  2. Hello everyone.

I'm three years out and my reflux is getting worse. Surprise to read people on relux meds for years. I truly don't remember being advised it could potentially get worse. My doctor now recommends the bypass. I hate taking pills and I'm bad with my Vitamins. I hate to get the bypass and the get sick due to no Vitamins :(

My tests (blood work) always come back normal. Not sure what to do next. Signed --- perplexed :(

  3. Hi Everyone,

I'm 2 years post, but my acid reflux has not gone away. Lately, it is worse. My last endoscopy was about a year ago and all was normal. Today during my yearly visit, my doctor suggested getting the bypass which would reduce and/or eliminate the reflux.

Has anyone had the same recommendation of the bypass as well? I'm not sure I want to go through surgery again. I would love any suggestion/comments and see who else is suffering with reflux? What meds are you on?

    Much appreciated fellow sleevers!

    Nene

  4. Hi Everyone!

I am almost four (4) months post-op and I am still having problems with heartburn. Its no longer in my chest but the feeling is in my throat. Its feels like a burn. I'm on heartburn meds and now liquid aloe vera which was recommended.

Is anyone dealing with the same problem? Anyone had this problem? Does it go away? I sleep with three pillows. Some days are better than others.

    Thanks. Irene

  5. Hi Everyone,

I am 13 days out. But, I am having a sesation in my throat that feels like something is stuck, basically I can't burp it out. I did see my doctor and he thought it would be heartburn. I'll get a new prescription if it doesn't go away in a few days. I am on liquids.

I was wondering if anyone has had this same sensation? Does it go away; anything you took?

    Thanks. Irene.

  6. Hi Everyone,

I've gathered strength to type to see if anyone can provide me any suggestions. I have so much gas pain still in my chest and shoulders. My nausea is getting a little under control but I still have spouts. I can't walk outside from about 7am till 8pm. It is too hot and humid that I do not want to chance an infection with the dirty sweat (over 95 degrees).

I'm confined to my house right now for any walking. It's been so painful. I would love any other recommendations.

    Thanks in advance. Newley sleeved!

  7. Hi Everyone,

I'm Irene. I'm schedule for my sleeve on Sept. 8th. My pre-op with my doctor was yesterday afternoon. On his way to the office, his wife called and it was time for the new "baby". I wasn't able to ask him my list of questions. I will call his office to get just a couple of things answered by his assistant.

I have two questions for you all. How bad is the pain after surgery after a couple of weeks? I'm not nervous today, but I saw three people yesterday that were four weeks out and they were so complaining about the pain and with little movement. (one seemed like a natural negative person, unfortunately)

Question 2 - How much walking can you do during the first week? I have two babies (shih-tzus) that LOVE walking. Any other tips? I welcome all.

Thanks in advance from little Houston, Texas. :scared0:

  8. Hi Everyone! September 8th is my surgery date. Nerves have started. My weight loss requirement was not met on my last weigh in. But, I think I have managed it during the few weeks I had before meeting the doctor for my pre-op. He will give the blessing or denial on Monday. I hope it goes well. Keep in touch. I know that I need the support. Thanks!!

  9. Hi Ladies! No date yet, but I'm on schedule and it should be approved for early September. Anxious. I have not been able to lose my "mandatory" weight. Its not even a lot. But, I went through the eat now before surgery urges. Yikes! Its been hard, but now in the mode to get it done. GOOD LUCK to all of us. It is our destiny to be healthier.

  10. Hi. I'm Nene and I am also from Houston with United healthcar insurance. I am in my 4th month and I expect to be rejected as well with all my health conditions. I did use a local non profit agency that is assiting in gathering all the required data which then submit my informaiton. I have had some disappointments with the whole process, but I'm sticking to it for now. I'm figuring I will have surgery in September. Reading the books listed here in this forum to help me understand, learn and acuire new tips to be ready for this life changing event. Good Luck.
