I Gained .4 Lbs!
Yes, do not weight too often. I mean you just had surgery and your body is still in shock. Plus you are changing from one type of diet to another. We can not hold as much food as we used to so you are GOING to lose! Guaranteed! .4 could just be from fluids, or diet change or salt intake. Be encouraged! We are making this happen!

Weightloss: Am I Slacking?
Hi All, So I have been hearing both on VST and on TV news segments that people are loosing over 100lbs in 6 months after surgery. I am concern that I have not been losing as well as I could. Let me say that it will be a year December 10th I have lost 80+ pounds, which is great and it shows but I am thinking that I need to go back and replace some meals with protein shakes and cut back on some things. What is your take? Any recommendations? Thanks! we11ro

I owe you what???
I have a co-worker that I am close to and have not told. I have someone I consider a step-mom that I have not told. I do not think I owe anybody exclusive information on my life unless I am led to. They should all respect that. Obviously your health and well-being is not of concern here...just her feelings. She will be ok and so will you. Keep focus on your goals...

Everyone Says Something Different!
Hey all, Do what works for you. Do your own research. I can only go off of what the professionals who study and do this everyday tell me. My thing is when in doubt ask the person who you trusted your life to perform the surgery and the people who work closely with them. If I had it all figured out I would not even be here to begin with. The thing I notice on here is that each person's experience is their own. There may be some useful information on here but a lot of information is opinion and what works "for me". I do not want to offer advice that is just my routine and possibly harm someone else's progress. So do you but always seek professional advice and do your own research. Happy Weight loss!!!!! T

Do u think one 1/2 glass wine
I had a glass of wine and it was fine on my tummy but heavy on the head. So just sip slowly and make sure you have eaten prior. Of course...I would confirm with your nutritionist. Happy Birthday!!!

Everyone Says Something Different!
I think there is definite reasoning behind the wait time but like you there have been times I needed to sip some Water because either my food was sticking in my chest or I was extremely thirsty. I do agree that is also hard to get my liquids in with all this wait time but to be careful not to stray to far away. With many things I am learning that other people's experience is not my own and vice versa. The guidelines are to make us optimize the most out of this weight-loss surgery and if we decide to alter or change it we deal with that consequence or decision. Do what works for you but definitely keep the guidelines in mind! Eat drink and be merry! HA! Cheers! T

Everyone Says Something Different!
Wow, in reading the replies there ARE a lot of different times. My Doc / Bariatric Center said it was 15 and 30. They said for gastric bypass it was 30 and 30. I would just go with your doctors recommendation though. I would take it seriously though, because my nutritionist said it is the number 1 reason for re-weight gain after weight-loss surgery. Best of luck!

New To The Site! February Date Scheduled! Question!
Kya, Congrats on your surgery choice an date!! I do not regret this surgery at all! It has been 4 weeks TODAY!!! I can totally see the change in my face and body!!! No one at works knows but everyone keeps commenting on either how good I look or that something is different about me. Since beginning this journey I have lost about 25 lbs. I suffered with back and knee pain prior and have not had either since surgery. Recup is really personalized I find but doable! I was back to work 11 days after surgery. My biggest complaint was the tug of my sutures on the inside. Wearing a binder or spanx can help keep all the jiggly fat still which help with the sutures. I did not have to take my pain medication much once home. I bought some liquid children's motrin and that helped with pain with the sutures more than the narcotic. Regarding your ambien and any meds contact your doc. It should be fine size wise to crush (when in doubt). I have to tell you that even my best male friend said that, "once your skinny you will not have time for me". It is really a male insecurity. It is reasonable but I know how it can feel annoying. Make him feel as good as excited about the new you as you feel. I have not tried many different Protein drinks but I drink Carnation Instant No Sugar added chocolate drink. Best of Luck....p.s. Feb 8 i my birthday!!!! I will be celebrating for you!!!!!

HOW BAD DOES IT REALLY HURT after surgery?
Hey Kimmes, I am excited for you! I had my surgery Dec 10th. The biggest pain was the one spot where they open the muscle. The sutures where they close the muscle back is probably your biggest pain but for me everything came in different stages. I was able to walk around the same day of surgery (post). It was hard to maneuver in bed but doable. You may feel pain immediately after but they will have pain meds. for you. Once I was home I was able to avoid pain med until evening. No nausea or vomiting. Thankfully. I did throw up twice in hospital but both times it was right after a nap. No nausea but it was miserable considering you dont have much to throw up and you have had stomach surgery. They gave me nausea and pain meds immediately. Both work pretty immediately. I was able to go back to work after 11 days. Everyone is different but I think you will be fine. God will indeed keep you and will not bring you to anything you can not bare! Best of luck! T

Hernia?
Thank you all. I have been experiencing some pain on my right side, which is a bummer since I seem to finally get over the suture pain. I hate to be a complainer. I have not been going to the bathroom regularly and it all is worrying. I feel like I took 2 steps backward. I am going to play it out and definitely take it easy. I pray this is not result of a hernia.

Trouble taking chewable vitamins
I was able to find the liquid Multivitamin supplement at Walgreens. In fact it is their brand. Hopefully this helps someone.

Hernia?
I have been up and running after surgery. I went to see my doc about a week after surgery because of pain I was feeling. My doc was in awe that I "looked" so good after surgery. He rest assured that the pain I was feeling was from the sutures that was used to close up the muscle opened during surgery. He just mentioned to be cautious about hernias and not to lift anything too heavy. Now I am paranoid that discomfort I may be feeling could be just that. For those who have had a hernia after WLS, how did you know? What set the light bulb off that something was wrong?
