  1. So far so good. Today is my second offical day back to work. I went to see Dr. Jenkins on thursday. He said that I was doing very well. He said most people lose 20lbs the first month and I had already lost 16 three weeks after surgery. I don't have to go back to see him again until May.!!!!!! I think I have officially become obessed with my scale. Every morning when I get up I go to the scale. Usually at least 3 times a day. I asked Dr. Jenkins about it..he said he hops on the scale every day as well.. He said that I am ok as long as its not more than 3 times a day. Anything over that he said is excessive-copulsive. Well last night I tried to eat some tuna. I ate about 3 bites and I was stuffed. I am still trying to teach my self that I can not eat and drink at the same time. I had skipped my protein drink on wednesday. I about freaked out when I remembered if I don't drink it my hair WILL fall out. So yes I am faithfully drinking my protein. I need some ideas of cooking with fish. Since this is protein...it will elimate so of the drinking of protein. I have been full of energy all day....I guess it all of the vitamins. My nails are growing....That's a plus. I didn't hop on the scale this morning.....I am wondering where I am today.....One thing I have realized that your weight changes throughout the day. So I go by my first weigh in.........
  2. Hey everybody. I had my surgery on 12-30-10. I was sleeved. So my surgery was two weeks ago. I went yesterday to the health food store and bought a few Isopure protein drinks (it has 40g) of protein in one 20 oz bottle. I have been trying to drink this one bottle since last night and I still have about 5 oz left. I am scared to death of not eating enough protein and scared my hair will fall out. But its almost like I have to force myself to eat/drink something. I mostly only drink the protein drinks and chicken broth or beef broth. I have tried eating jelly. I can only eat maybe 2 bites. Afraid I am not getting enough of everything....Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. That is a great idea, thanks. I have been sleeved almost two weeks. I had bought some fat free puddings but I can't eat a whole and the taste funny. I can only eat about 3 bites at the most if I try to eat any more I feel like I am full! Thanks, Rae sleeved 12-30-10
  4. GOOD LUCK tomorrow! You will do great. I was sleeved on 12-30-10! I am fired up and ready to go. <ake sure you walk as much as possible. Please keep me posted. Rae

  6. Well it is now 0225 and I am up. I guess I am a little anxious but, not in a bad way. I had my pre hospital visit yesterday and my last doctor's appointment with Dr. Jenkins. It was great. I had been nervous that I wouldn't meet my pre-op weight goal of 260, well I weighed in at 255.5. I am proud of myself so far. Dr. Jenkins said I am a good candidate for the surgery. He said they look at if a person loses weigh during pre-op. If you lose weight then you will do fine after you are sleeved. I was give a patch to put behind my ear. It is for nausea. I can only keep in on for three days max. I was also already given my pain medicine for when I get out of the hospital. I am so excited right now. I also had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate, At the hospital I was given a bottle of Hibiclens. I had to take a shower with my regular soap and then use the hibiclens on my abdomen for 5 minutes. The nurse said to rub it on my abdomen for 5 minutes in a circular motion for 5 minutes with no water running to rinse it off, then rinse it off. That was last night. She said to make sure to change your sheets on your bed after you did this. I also have to do this in the morning, My surgery is at 9. I have to be at the hospital at 8. Three of my daughters will be with me. I am excited. The only thing that I a little nervous about is that Dr. Jenkins said he would expect me to end up weighing 160 pounds for my height. I don't even remember what that feels or looks like....... Have a great day. I will, next time I write I will be sleeved.!!! Oh yeah I asked Dr. Jenkins about the pain after surgery. I asked if it would be equal to child birth. He said no. It will be worse than the soreness that you feel after child birth but no as bad.....so I know that I can handle it....!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. GOOD LUCK SHANNON!!!!!!! See you on the other side next week..When we will bothe be sleeved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rae

  11. I have Aetna as well. It depends on a few things. My normal co-pay is $20.00 for office visits in network.. I was originally told that my hospital co-pay would be areund $2,000.00 and I believe that my surgeon would be around $500.00. Neither quote was correct. I will end up paying around $1200.00 for my surgery. I also had to mack 4 monthly visits to be on a doctor's supervised diet pre-op. Hope it helps
  12. How are you feeling? How was your surgery? I am 2 days pre-op and just curious....I was told you have to walk for a few weeks first but I am not too sure. Congratulations on your weight loss so far!!!!!!!!!!!!
