    A total mess

It really does sound like a mess. Is there any way you can talk to a different surgeon? I am not familiar with how medical practice works in your country, but here you often have a choice of doctors rather than having to go to the same one; and definitely don't wait to be contacted, give them a call!!! If you're in that much pain there's no reason why you should be suffering! I don't think you're a failure at least, 43 pounds is really something. There are a lot of people who don't lose that much in a year, and it sounds like you're willing to do the right thing; so definitely go talk to a different doctor!

    I'm starving!!!!!!

It sounds like you're doing so well!!! Congrats on the 11 pounds You're on your way. I remember how exciting it was to eat mushies and to have a bowl of puree'd soup. It was like heaven!!
  4. I used to not be a gassy person at all before the lapband. I got my band in June, and being gassy just seems to be how the world works for me these days, especially the burping. Burping was painful for the first month I had the band, but now I just burp a lot... with no pain. It isn't too big of a deal although sometimes embarrassing.

    How much time off work?

I work a desk job too. I took four days off; but I also work from home so I don't have to deal with things like commuting, etc. I had all of my home comforts around me to help me heal.

    JUST CHECKING IN

Looks like you're doing really well! I lost quickly too. It's pretty exciting! I think your port pain should subside soon. That was the last thing that hurt for me too. I don't even notice it at all now except I can feel it under my skin.

    I LOST 100 POUNDS!! Before/ After pics

AWESOME!!!!!! I'm almost to my 100 pound loss mark too, and it's SO EXCITING! You did such a good job, and you look great. I noticed your tattoo too. It doesn't look bad. I've been a little worried about my tattooos moving... I have over 20 of them.
  8. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but don't compare yourself to other people. In my opinion it's best to focus on your health and being at your best rather than what you look like. Of course I admit that's part of it, and I'm not going to lie, I have moments of body image issues and feeling anxious about my appearance, but your health is the most important thing! Also, we all look different at different weights. I'm 6 feet tall, and I look thinner at 276 pounds than some people I know who weigh less than that, and heavier than some who weigh more; so we're just all so different. I do wish you the best of luck! I'm sure you're going to look just lovely no matter what others look like!

    Hard to lose areas

I definitely lost weight in my face first. When I go through a significant weight change now I always notice it in my face first. Hard places for me are my upper arms and lower stomach, but with the right kind of exercises they are shrinking. I recommend yoga and weight training Here's an example, this is me: The before / after picture is me last June and then me in August of this year. You can see the difference in my face. And this picture is from a couple of weeks ago. You can see the difference in my face even from August:

    How many CC's are you?

I was banded June 8th, and I started with 2cc's in the band. I have not had a fill, and I've lost 72 pounds since the surgery, so I still have 2cc's. I feel restriction. I eat about 1100 calories a day and work out 6 days a week.
  14. I want to have a baby!!!! I was able to get pregnant in July, but lost the baby; and I'm ramping up my health so that I can conceive and have healthy happy pregnancy! I can't wait

    The gym

I honestly don't go to the gym at all. I work out on my own. I like it better. Occasionally, I'll go take some classes. Before I moved, my friend was going jogging with me in the mornings, but usually it's just me working at my own pace. I had a bad experience at a gym with a man who wouldn't leave me alone while I was working out and was always watching me and kind of coming on to me... so I haven't wanted to go back; but I might later. I know quite well that this sort of thing doesn't happen at every gym, and that it was unusual; but still makes me feel weird.

    I'm starving!!!!!!

Corrigan is right... despite all the little tricks you can do, just gritting your teeth and getting through that phase is a lot of it. It sucks, but it does get better, trust me!

    I'm starving!!!!!!

It is really hard to be starving after the surgery, I remember that. I had a similar diet to you, but I was on liquids longer before I went to mushies. What really helped me were things like sugar free popsicles. I couldn't even handle the broth one day. It was so disgusting. Jello I could do.. ish. I was so glad to get on regular liquids and off the clear liquids. I admit I did basically live in sugar free popsicles and coconut water for that phase.

    What am I doing wrong?

You'll see me say this a lot on the board, but every pound is a victory. 25 pounds may not seem like a lot, but it's a lot more than 0. Think about what you did to lose those 25 pounds, and then step it up! What can you do a little more of to kick start yourself? I am sure that if you have the ability to lose 25 pounds, you have the ability to lose a lot more!

    help with mushie foods

When I was on mushies, cottage cheese was a favorite (it still is, actually, I eat it all the time); also puree'd beans (I prefer black to refried beans) with a little bit of fat free cheese in them. I made very fancy protein shakes with all kinds of fruit and veggies blended into them. I also liked puree'd soups. When I was out and about if I absolutely had to stop somewhere to eat, I could go to Taco Bell and get the little frijoles and cheeses; they only cost a dollar, and they have 190 calories and lots of protein!
  21. When you're first banded, the first six weeks are supposed to be for healing. Your band likely doesn't have any Fluid in it, so once the swelling starts to go down from surgery you're likely to feel like you can eat a lot more than you should be able to. Technically this is true, but it can be dangerous because you are still healing, whether you feel great or not so you need to be careful with your new pouch. It is difficult to stick to your diet during the first few weeks, but it's really important for the life of your band and for your eventual lifestyle once you start getting fills. Granted, I'm sure it's not going to hurt you if you have a couple of little cheating moments; but you should get back on track as soon as possible. Just remember that the first six weeks are going to be different from the rest of your band experience, so it's true that they may not be what you expected. The steps you take today to form good band habits will help you along the rest of your journey and will ultimately contribute to your success.
  22. It's true, having an addictive personality doesn't always change; sometimes addictions get swapped out for other addictions. I personally couldn't imagine spending $140 on scratch tickets!! Oh my goodness! I think that becoming 'addicted' to a healthy hobby would be a better exchange. I like what some posters mentioned about crocheting. I would have to say that my 'addiction' of choice would be geocaching. You can get out and exercise while doing it too!!
  23. I definitely think it could be as simple as just getting an unfill. That's definitely what it looks like to me. Hope your appointment with your doc goes well, I think it was smart to make an appointment. Good luck!
  24. Unjury is my personal favorite as well. I have heard differing opinions on whether protein shakes are okay or not. Some doctors, mine included, don't recommend them, but I think it depends on the person. If you can drink the correct portion and it works for you, then that's okay I think; but if you just guzzle protein shakes all day like water then there's a problem. Personally, I think they're awesome; and I like to put fruit in them and then I don't even need anything else for breakfast really...

    Is this PBing?

I also agree that week three is too early to be eating food like that. I was on liquids for five weeks after my band, and then graduated to mushies for another three weeks before going back to eating regular food. However, if you are following the plan that your surgeon gave you, then he/she is the person you should be listening to. In that case, my advice is to chew as much as possible before swallowing. My nutritionist tells me to say the alphabet in my head as I chew things. It works if I'm eating something tough. PB'ing stands for Productive Burp. I haven't had one, but I imagine it's when you burp and a little bit of food comes up. It sounds to me like you almost got stuck. Getting stuck is NO FUN. It hasn't happened often to me, but the times it has have been almost frightening. The symptoms include foaming at the mouth in my case. And it's true that yes, you're not supposed to drink water if you get stuck. Admittedly, sometimes if I think I'm going to get stuck I'll drink some water to prevent it from happening, and it helps me. But the key is to take small bites and chew really really well. My doctor told me this terrible story about a lady who went to taco bell and got a taco and was wolfing it down because she was in a hurry. He said that she didn't chew and the piece of taco shell got stuck in her pouch, and he actually had to surgically remove it... that story has definitely scared me into chewing a lot. Best of luck to you! I think if you follow your doctor's orders, which you seem to be doing, then you'll do just fine!
