OK, I need some serious help/advice please

Yes! Choice is the key I think. There are things I definitely could eat, but choose not to. We all make a choice when we pick up the fork and put it in our mouth; whether the band is there or not.

I made it to my first goal

WOW! This is so impressive! Good for you! You must be so proud!

Is Early Twenties too young for the lapband?

I'm 29, and this band was the best decision I ever made. I too struggled with my weight almost my entire life, and I wish I would have gotten this done sooner. However, I do have to say that emotionally, I was not ready to have this surgery a few years ago. That of course doesn't mean that you are in the same boat; but I think that because the band is not a passive miracle fix all tool, being emotionally ready and motivated is key. You will need to be kind and loving to yourself; losing weight doesn't make us love ourselves more; loving ourselves more gives us the motivation to lose the weight; it's quite the opposite from what is commonly believed. That is the first step I would take, work on loving yourself no matter what size you are. Your size is NOT who you are. You are who you are, and despite the extra fluff, I'm sure you're a beautiful human being who is deserving of happiness, love and health!! Best of luck on your journey! It's never too early to start being healthy!!!
  4. I'm late to the thread, but CONGRATS!!! 35 years is a huge accomplishment! That's wonderful!

Really worried was this a good idea?

It's true! If you maintain a healthy lifestyle and do what you're supposed to do, and listen to your body, you'll not gain back a pound!
  6. Everyone's already given you good advice, so I won't beat the proverbial dead horse and add any more, but I do want to say that it's okay to have 'cra cra' emotions, it's really normal! It's also normal to feel frustrated, so don't feel like there's anything wrong with you. You're going to do just fine! In fact, being in complete awareness of the situation and knowing what's going on with yourself is already a step towards success, even if the scale isn't moving yet!

    Lost 100 pounds !!!

Congratulations!!!! That's my goal by the end of the year. 20 more pounds to go!!
  8. I was banded in June, and the burping doesn't really stop. I still burp a lot more than I used to. In fact, I used to hardly ever ever burp, and I do it several times a day now. It's just a part of the band, not a sign it's slipped, so you're just fine my dear!
  9. Dave, this is wonderful news! Your posts are an inspiration to me, and my heart is so glad to read about your progress. Wonderful job!
  10. I just found out that I'm pregnant this morning! AAAGH! I almost don't know what to do, I was not supposed to be able to get pregnant. I am so glad that this section of the forum exists, I think I'll be spending a lot of time here. I was banded June 8th. I've lost 77 pounds since my pre-op diet starting in late April.
  11. So I thought that I would report the last couple of days I've been having a tiny bit of port pain. I think that my insides are starting to move around to prepare for the growing uterus, in addition to what's called Round Ligament Pain.
  12. Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! She is SO PRECIOUS!!!!! Thank you for sharing the pic!!

    Restriction is on and off

All cereal is a trigger food for me, I completely understand this phenomenon. I think that it's exactly what it is for you.

    Swelling

I think it took me about a week and a half I was pretty normal after that!
  16. I'm about 7 and a half weeks pregnant, and I've had no problems so far! We'll have to see how it goes. I have had a tiny bit of port pain, but nothing to write home about. My other pregnancy symptoms are much worse than anything going on with my band right now.
  17. Oh also, you've got to be careful with how much you are vomiting because there is risk of slipping the band. My surgeon says that in his experience sometimes lap band patients have less morning sickness and vomiting (not sure why, but he's noticed it). I can tell you that in my case, it's been pretty true. I've only thrown up twice, and while I've been pretty queasy, I've not had real full on icky sickness. (cross my fingers) So if you have excessive vomiting, call your surgeon, he may decide to do an unfill then.
  18. Hey there! I got pregnant about 2 months after my band, so I only had 2ccs in it to begin with. What my doc told me is that he would leave it in there, and if I had problems when I started showing (5 months-ish) with my insides being squished (since that's what happens, apparentlly) then he would remove the Fluid. He said that in the first and the beginning of the second trimesters I should be just fine how I am, since the baby only needs an extra 300 calories a day anyhoo. To quote comedian Dav Barry; you might be eating for two, but remember that the second one is the size of a golf ball, not Orson Welles. (lol) Congratulations by the way!!!! What is your due date? Mine's April 17th, 2012.

Discomfort - Air bubble in chest

I had this at first as well, but walking walking and more walking made it feel better! Thankfully, after a couple of weeks all gas pains had completely vanished! I do, at four -ish months post op still burp more than I used to, but I never have gas pains anymore. Your hubby should be just fine!
  20. I got banded in early June, and I have NEVER slimed, PB'd, or thrown up from the band. I've also never gotten anything stuck. I've only thrown up twice the whole time, but that's because I'm pregnant, not because the band had anything to do with it. You may not feel restriction until you get a fill, that's what they're for, the first six weeks are all for healing, so you're doing just AWESOME my friend! Congrats!

    Day 6 and Starving

I was on mushies for a lot longer than I was supposed to be because I was afraid to transition to solids. However, I'm glad you were allowed to have a protein shake because I think that it should be totally fine after the amount of time you waited. I was only on clear liquids for 24 hours, and was then allowed full liquids, and it was just great!
  22. Thanks! Things are going along well! I haven't lost anymore weight in the last couple of weeks, but I haven't gained any either. I've just been hovering. I've actually been doing quite well in regards to morning sickness and such. I have only thrown up twice. I've been a little nervous because of the band slipping, but so far I've just been able to sit through the nausea and let it pass. Things are going dandy! Can't believe I'm almost 2 months along!

    refill after delivery

My doctor told me at least 6 weeks post partum. That seems to be the standard number for basically anything after having a baby, sex, work (although sometimes it's longer), etc. I personally plan on breastfeeding though. I have heard that breastfeeding actually stimulates the mom's metabolism, so I'm not too worried about gaining a bunch myself. Your case is somewhat different though. I would get opinions from both your OB and your surgeon.
  24. Hooray! Best of luck to you dear! Making steps toward better heatlh is such a wonderful thing for you to do. Trust me, for years, I never thought it was possible for me to conceive or be pregnant. It's almost like a miracle. I know that you''ll do great!
  25. Hey! Now that is really cool! Congrats to you too! it is really strange switching gears. I find at the moment that I'm still losing though. I lost another pound and a half since my appointment. We'll see what it does at the end of the week though. I decided I'm using that number at this point before I update my ticker.
