Well...day one of the pre-op diet has come and gone. I cannot complain too much though, along with my 5 protein shakes, I am allowed one meal consisting of 5 ozs of protein (meat/cheese), 2 cups of veggies (non-starchy) and one serving of fat. Still...it is not a lot of food for a entire day! Just have to stay focused and keep the FAITH.

Post-Op Diet - Protein shakes???
Can'tweight replied to Can'tweight's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yes...Unjury are the one's I have. I like the Chicken Soup, but all the others stink and have a bad after taste. Granted, they're not as bad as others I've tried, but they're still ooh. Just thought if I could add some syrup or fruit I could drink them with no problem. -
Welcome ampsgirl! Started my 2 wk liquid diet today as well. My surgery is Mar 16th. Can hardly wait! Enjoy your journey to a new you!

March 16th for me as well!! Started my 2 wk pre-op diet today. Really like the unjury chicken Soup...and as long as I can add fruit or syrups to the the Choc and vanilla shakes, I'm ok. I'm excited that there are several of us starting our journey together.

I'm four months out, it's good and bad
Can'tweight replied to janinemaire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are NOT perfect! We all have some kind of issue with food or we wouldn't have had to take such extreme measures. You have done very well and should feel proud! Please try not to beat yourself up too much. Just buckle down, stay focused and do a little walking (if you can). Keep the FAITH! -

Hey guys, Was doing some research and ran across this article. Thought y'all may be interested as I've seen some posts asking about long-term results. VSG 5-year results for weight loss Can hardly wait for a surgery date!!

Hi Everyone, I went to my first consult this past Wednesday and have been reading a bunch of y'all's post, but still have questions and concerns. First, do you get enough Protein post-op to retain muscle? Secondly, in the first few weeks, is there a lot of nausa and/or vomiting? Thirdly, do you have poopy problems as well, constipation and/or the opposite? Very nervous about if it helps take the hunger or not ever being satisfied feelings away. It's like my taste buds are NEVER satisfied and I can eat and eat and eat!I'm ready to look like a lady again, and not the "Michelin Man." Also, I'm worried about looking 20 yrs older when the weight comes off. I bet there's a whole lot of wrinkle under all this extra weight!

Well you make think I'm crazy...but after getting approved by UHC this morning, I still had an uneasy feeling about the doc's office. I started doing some more research and have changed surgeon's. I am now having the procedure done with Dr. Nick in Plano. This surgery is HUGE and I need to feel comfortable in every aspect. With the doctor, as well as, the staff. It felt very cattle-istic! I felt like I was just another patient #00000...if you know what I mean? Anyway, I start my 2 wk diet Monday!! Surgery is scheduled for March 14th, as long as there's no hic-ups through insurance.

Do we need to bring our own Protein Powder to the hospital to put in our clear liquids ? Don't we start the Protein directly after surgery? Confused??

Dr.Nick's Post-Op Diet
Can'tweight replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Doug! My schedule is all out of whack! I had already been approved for the surgery with another surgeon and decided to go with Dr. Nick instead. So I have been dealing with the girls in the office getting the approval transferred over and they have scheduled my surgery for March 14th, but my actual consultation isn't until this next Friday with Dr. Nick. I have to start my pre-op diet tomorrow and since I don't have all the info from them yet, was curious of what the post-op diet consisted of, I take it you are with Dr. Nick. -

Protein drinks????
Can'tweight replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Poo!!! I just new that was going to be the answer. Guess it will be chicken soup for a long while. -
I have been trying out some of my samples this evening and GROSS!!!! My questions are: 1) Can we have milk in our shakes in stage 1 (clear liquids)? 2) If so, can we add things into the shakes (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peanut butter) in stage 1 as well? I can not stand the shakes themselves, so I need to mix something with them or after 2 or 3 I won't be able to swallow them anymore. If I can't, then I guess I will be on just the Unjury Chicken Soup until I can find one I can handle. Any suggestions??
