    Sleeved Monday, May 2

Welcome to our little clan!! I sure hope you're feeling better quickly. The first few weeks can be quite the bummer. But take it easy and sip, sip, sip. I was on a full liquid diet for the first month after surgery and oh how I hated all things sweet. The only thing that got me through was the unjury chicken Soup. I was never a big sweets person before surgery, my down fall was good ole southern fried foods! Don't try to move to fast through your food stages as you may very well damage your sleeve incision. Take it slow! Really slow!! Hang in there and keep us posted!

    I don't get the "don't eat bread"

I was told not to eat bread unless it was firmly toasted. Because it gets like a doughy ball in your tummy and is hard for our sleeve to digest. Also, I know how bad all the white stuff is for me so I try to stay away from it. I do have a whole wheat piece of toast with two eggs for breakfast. The rest of the time...no bread, flour, rice, potatoes, pasta, etc...but to each to his own. Whatever works!
  3. That's terrific!! I too was in a stall for 2-3 weeks. It finally broke sometime Sunday night, and since Monday morning I have lost 3 lbs. Stalls are such a killer on our self-esteem. Never a dull moment with the sleeve, that's for sure!

    I am pregnant!!!!

What a blessing!! We tried for over 10 years! Had invitro preformed twice, got pregnant the 2nd time, but then had a miscarriage. At that point we totally gave up and gave in. Low and behold, three years later (out of the blue) we were pregnant! I was beyond shocked! Our oldest son (my husband's step-son) was in his freshman year of college. Almost 19 years difference in age! Crazy! My little Noah is now going to be 7 yrs old in June and is the light of my life! I think it was the Lord reminding this control freak everything happens in his time, not ours. Congrats! I wish for you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

    Here's Some Stall Info...

I increased my intake limits (calories, fat, carbs, protein) for the day Sunday and broke my stall. I had lost 2 lbs. Monday and another lb this morning.

    I did one thing right

I'm right there with you guys...Prior to surgery I would seat batting an eyelash! Now I feel like Goldie Locks. I'm just right!! There are sometimes when I feel chilled, which is so very strange to me. Is this something that will always be? Will it change back? I sure hope not, since I live in Texas where the summers can be so miserable.

    Failure

I am so sorry you are feeling so down. But don't give up! What is your intake amounts (calories, fat, carbs, Protein, Water, etc...)? How much exercise are you getting in? Below is the link to the pouch test: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/
  11. I am so confused on how you can be taking in only 600-800 calories, 60-70gms Protein, 40-50gms carbs, and 30-40gms fat and not lose weight. Could y'all give me some reasons WHY we have these stalls? I have been hovering around 30-32lbs weight-loss for two or so weeks and I am 6 1/2 weeks post-op... What's up with that? Do I need to go back to liquids?? Don't get me wrong...I am happy for the loss in pounds, but have 80 some odd pounds to still lose...poo!

    The Dreaded Stalls...

I know what you mean! But just so ya know, I think your doing great in the weight loss department! We have to remember it took a lot longer to get here, so we have to be patient in getting it off. I have my ups and downs emotionally. Some days I can reign myself in and others, well lets just say, I feel a little bipolar or manic about it. Lol Not sure if you read my other post from today regarding "broke the stall," but as I mentioned, I have read so many posts about how others have broken them. I decided yesterday to increase my limits on intake as others have done, so I ordered me a cheeseburger kids meal (minus the drink) for dinner. And after hovering around 32-34 lbs loss for 2-3 weeks, I awoke to a friendly scale this morning that said I had lost 2 lbs!! Yea!! Not sure if the increase in calories, fat, carbs, etc...did the trick, but I am sure glad I lost. Now, tomorrow is a new day. Hopefully, I won't have gained them back by morning. Just seems impossible to gain ANYTHING on such low intake limits. Well, we shall see... Just remember, "Eye on the prize, Violet! Eye on the prize!!
  13. After losing 34 lbs, I found Bin Laden hiding between my cracks and crevices!!!
  14. How very awful for you!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  15. Your body is in shock. All your hormones, blood sugars, etc...are out of whack! I don't think it was "dumping syndrome," just your body freaking out a bit. I remember how I felt in first few weeks after surgery. I will not kid you, it's a wooley-booger! But it will get better...PROMISE!! At 4 days out all you really need to do is concentrate on getting your fluids in. I pray you feel better VERY soon!!

    Not losing

I was sleeved 3/16 and have been hovering at the same weight for 2-3 weeks. I have read a bunch of different ideas to shock your system into loss again, including increasing your limits. It's been said that since we're not getting the calories we did before this journey began, our bodies go into a starvation mode and we need to trick it back into weight loss. Well, yesterday I decided to try this...and ordered a cheeseburger kids meal (minus the drink). This morning the scale showed a 2 lb loss! Not sure if it was really because of increasing my limits, but I sure am glad the scale finally moved! I was willing to try almost anything to get scale moving again! I know how mind boggling it is to consume such few amounts of calories, fat, carbs, etc...and not lose anything. So my thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Hair Thinning

Thanks...I was sleeved on 3/16 and wondered how long it would be before this dreaded side effect would kick in. WLS...the so called easy way out. Right!!

I am curious to know when you were sleeved...

    I wake up nauseated?

My doc prescribed my PPI twice a day. One in the morning and one before bed. For the most part I do okay, but there are times I still feel yucky. Hope this helps...

I fell off the wagon. Hard.

Amanda, I feel your pain. I too had a bad day yesterday. Not with candy (not my weakness) but with pizza and Mexican food. I only ate the topping off the pizza, but had too much and my body said, "Too much," and you know what that means. I had too much fixings with my normal "chicken Fajatia meat"...sour cream, guacamole, chips, etc... Then we took my son to see "RIO" (great movie by the way), had a little of his popcorn and Reece's "Pieces." This morning I am 220 and Friday I was 218...bummer!! I too can consume more than the average sleever here, which is totally frustrating in itself. Still having issues with eating slower and always measuring. I am also more hungry than most, it seems. It's still so hard for me to understand how we can gain ANY weight with increasing our calories, fat, carbs, etc...from the normal 600 to a 900-1000 mark. Strange! Good luck today as you get refocused on the task at hand. It's a hard road to hoe...but we will reap the benefits if we can just stay strong. It's so comforting to know we have a safe place to come to where there is no judging our mistakes, but encouragement and compassion. Thanks guys!
  22. I understand the frustration you feel...but it won't be long. First two weeks are the hardest. After your first surgery follow-up you will know better when it will be ok to resume normal activity. I was released after two weeks, but to tell you the truth. I did not feel comfortable until about 4 weeks out. But that's just me. Easy does it...you DON'T want to over do it and have to wait even longer.
  23. Yes, probably to most. Your body is just in shock! Anything in your tummy at this point is very hard for your body to handle. This is normal...no worries. The first two weeks were very difficult for me. It WILL get better. Just take it REALLY slow. Sip, sip, sip. Hang in there!
