  2. hello,

I have been banded on 17th march....my weight loss has not been much so far....but my age my mobility my arthritis and other factors have to be taken into account.I have lost 14lbs in 4 months.

Thank God for the band...now I am off my painkillers...no NASAIDS now...they were ruining my kidneys...now Im getting used to the pain...taking many supplements...and feeling hopeful..and getting better.

  3. I recently read in 1 forum that lap band is a slow and steady weight loss as compared to sleeve...is it so...

some of us take long to start off..while others have amazing weight loss from the first month...

age and exercise, metabolic rate and food habits of course must be playing a major part in this.

I am trying my best but my weight is not moving in the last 2 months...this is my fourth month.....

does anyone have a similar story....

  4. hi...thanksallof you for your guidance and support....I did write down my calsand Protein....I am having around 40gms Protein and around 1000 calories..

so I need to increase on both fronts.I do exercise daily for 40 mins....but otherwise my life is very sedentary....my movements are slowdue to arthritis.

I willincrease my calorieand protein content and yes willwrite it down daily.....I tried only 3 meals...but my body is

used to 3meals and2 Snacks since years...so maybe that is causing weight gain...

    Thanks all of you!!

  5. hi everyone....Iam a bander since 17th march.....but now its becoming more and more difficult to loose weight....I amgetting worried....why does the weight fluctuate so much...

yesterday i did every ting right yet i have put on 2lbs....not fair really....why are our bodies not responding...when we areeatingso less...

this is so tricky honestly....itsalmost 2 month and no weightloss.....

  6. Yes, thank you that does help. Sometimes all i need is a little encouragment to keep going... Question though.... Does every Bander go through a few months of this in the beginning? Does it ever get easier to eat less? If so, then what is a typical period of time before it finally starts to "switch on" so to speak...

hi..cheer up!!! too am sailing in the same boat...cant excercise much...weight loss has stalled....but we have to go on without giving up....

we have become obeses over the yrs thru our own negligence...so it will take time ,hard work and patience...all the best..

  7. I took NSAIDS for the severe pain of Osteoarthritis of the Knees. (HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED.) That was the worst medicine that I was ever on. I didn't know what was causing me to retain Water so bad. A specialist said you take all these, and want more for pain? "Yeah" He said don't take them anymore, there not really helping you. Throw them out.

I couldn't believe it. But it was to be done. I hurt like hell, Took some Ibuprofen to help.

It took 3 days, and my Kidneys started to work again, I never Peed so much in my life. I lost 30 Lbs. in 30 days... I even slept on the toilette...

I was drowning in my own Fluid and no Dr. would believe me except for him. He saved my life !

I have it in my Back and Hands. I use a cream to help the pain. Or pain meds from the Doc. if really bad. Sometimes Ibuprofen, But I will never take those kins of pills again.

When they replaced my Knees, The surgeon told me that none of those NSAIDS are any good for you. I believe that.

LOOKS LIKE MY FINGERS ARE NEXT FOR REPLACEMENT. But I will take a pain pill first, creme, or ice.

I wish you luck. I know what you are going threw.

    Good Health to you, Shirley.

    hello...

my God what an experience...I have also been taking NSAIDS FOR LONG...many yrs..now I have almost stopped...i take maybe 10 tabs in a month....but not much weight loss....u r lucky to loose weight...

Thanks all for your guidance....I guess I'll reduce my tablets soon...my Doc said no medicines....:(so got to be strong and bear the pain.

  8. I have been banded on 17th march 2011. I have severe arthritis and have been told not to take medicines.

But many times pain is bad and I have taken medicines (NSAIDS) sometimes maybe 10days in a month.but not continuously.

I am quite scared of things like band erosion. does anyone have a story like mine?

Please guide me.ALL SAY THAT ONCE YOU LOOSE A LOT OF WEIGHT YOU WONT NEED MEDICINES. But my weight loss is also slow.

  9. thanks every one for your guidance....I think i'll go back to Protein shakes for a while...in India we dont have many options for Proteins.....I do have cheese sometimes..but I found it constipating.....I have been a vegetarian all my life..so my diet has never been nutritious I guess...

Initially I was tracking my protein..but it was always below the needed requirements...:(

I think i'll take Protein Shakes for a while...so i'll be off the plateau and

then I'll concentrate on my Protein intake surely....Thanks. for your support !!!

  10. Can you tell us what you eat in a typical day, and how much?

As for when to eat... seems everyone is given different advice. My nutritionist says 3 meals a day, avoid Snacks if possible, if not make the snack work for you so I choose a source of Protein. Other people seem to eat every 3 hours.

hi..thanks for the reply...I mostly have a boiled egg with 1 roti(Indian whole meal bread) for breakfast....some nuts after 3 hrs....lunch is mostly chicken with another roti.....some protien biscuits after 3 hrs....and dinner is some dal(pulses) with another roti...

I think my roti consumption is more...its all carbs...should have salads instead I think...or yoghurt...

    do advise....and thanks a lot...

  11. Hello...I was banded on 17th march. lost a lot of weight in the first 2 months...lost 14lbs...all said 3rd month is bad...wont loose weight ..now its the 4th month...no weight loss....

what is the exact gap between meals...I have good Breakfast and many times I forget to have my snack in office...i guess then the gap becomes too much...earlier I was having 3 full meals and 2 Snacks..but now with work many times its not possible to snack...

please advice...I do want to loose weight I have arthritis...cant exercise much...but i do go to the gym and have a professional trainer.

  12. Thanks so much for helping me out. I now understand why we need more Water.

I will not be depressed now, thanks for encouraging me !!! I am doing moderate exercise, and slowly loosing in cms.I have arthritis and I am 56 yrs old.

So I should not expect a drastic weight loss. I have lost the weight I had put on in the last 3 yrs. Naturally I will take longer to get rid of the weight which has been with me for almost 20 yrs!!

    Thanks once again !

  13. Hello every one...
