  1. Tried golf yesterday. Different than I remember. I have to learn how to play again since I haven't been this weight in a very long time.

    Who Plays Golf?

Played yesterday. My wife and I joined a friend from work and hit a course at twilight. It's going to take some time to put the swing back together. The last time I played I was in the 260+ range, and yesterday I stepped on the first tee at 226.4. Sadly, I got tired pretty quickly and for a few holes only hit tee shots and then watched my wife have a great time. I did play 18 with a good tee shot, crappy second, good 3rd and 2 putts for a par. I might take a week or two off to just work on getting my stamina back.

    Barefoot Running

Get fit for a pair of Vibram 5 Fingers shoes. Protection for the foot and the feeling of being barefoot. I'll be picking up a pair at some point. http://www.vibramfivefingers.com

    5k race

I have the same goals. I used to love to run. I had some knee surgery a couple years ago with a prognosis of eventually having to replace them. Now that my weight is coming down, I want to get back to it. Perhaps slowly like you did, but definitely by years end.

    Feeling too good too soon?

I was sleeved on 3/30 and returned to work for 1/2 days the following Monday. My recovery has been very easy, my wife is jealous! I am reminded from time to time that I had surgery, but haven't really taken any pain meds past the first weekend. Today I start back full days, a good bit lighter and looking forward to the future. Good luck with your continued recovery.
  7. The surgeon I went to in Atlanta didn't give me an exact number but stated that he'd done hundred's so far. He no longer does the lap band as the failure rate is too high. Early on, he did have one sleeve patient that had a leak and has since modified his procedure. No deaths! That was good by me.
  8. 10 days post op. Energy is good, but I still get a bit tired. Went for a spin around the apartment early this morning and feel good. (Spin means walk BTW!)

  9. What are these things that I feel on my side?? Could they be......Ribs?? LOL!

  10. I was all set to have my surgery happen on April 13th with pre-operative testing on the 11th. I got up yesterday and went to the gym. (Had I been doing this all along, there would be no surgery! ) When I got home I had a message from the surgeon's office asking if I wanted to get this done on Wednesday the 30th. Holy Cow! Yes!!! So, a frantic day on the road yesterday took me to Atlanta and jumping through various hoops to get all the testing and permissions done. Tomorrow morning, waaaay earlier than my wife would like, we are hitting the road to Atlanta again. We have to be there for 8:30 and surgery a couple of hours after that. Hopefully just one night stay over and then back home to start sipping whatever I have to sip for the next few weeks. This is moving quickly, but I think I prefer that!
  11. 1 week post-op and weighed in this morning. 238.8. The only problems that I'm having is not realizing my physical limitations. Obviously I have never had something like this done to me and wasn't sure how my body would react. I went back to work on Monday for a half day. I'll be working a half day all this week as I found that I tire sitting at my desk. I take as many walks as I can and am pretty happy with the weight loss so far.
  12. Trust me, there has been enough doubt in this single date to last two weeks! Gotta go, Jello beckons.
  13. The reality is that the surgery is all about you and that's how it should be. Sadly your husband succumbed to pressure and tried to get out of a jam with his parents and ended up with another set of problems. My wife got sleeved in December. We have some family members who attempted to make her feel bad about it but she made it clear that she didn't want to hear any of that negative talk. My decision is that I'm keeping this pretty quiet. Somewhat for the same reason, the other is that it just isn't anyone's business. I have all the support that I need in my wife and I'm good with that. You're right to be angry. Don't let it derail anything that you're doing though.
  14. Best of luck to you also. You excited?
  15. I'm not the largest person who has been approved for this surgery, but it's necessary for me nonetheless. I've been packing on weight the last 5 or 6 years and my health has deteriorated. I've got some cardiac issues and definite arthritis. My wife had a sleeve done back in December so having a support system won't be an issue. I'm scheduled for April 13th in Atlanta (thanks to changes in insurance) Time to find out what a smaller me looks like. Chris.
