Oh I'm so sorry that you had a breakdown....I hope that you won't have many more. Just think of the GREAT work you are doing to get healthy. You will be so proud of yourself!
I got banded on the 19th. The only pain I have is around the area of the port. And like yours, my pain comes around when I make a sudden or fast move. I am not hungry, but I know I have to take in liquids. I'm still really light-headed, but with this having been my first medical procedure, I kind of expected that it would take me a while to recover.
I had my first "what-have-I-done" breakdown last night. I was just sitting on the sofa with my hubby and I started crying uncontrollably. It's wasn't at anything in particular. I guess the reality of everything hit me at that moment. I know it won't be my last breakdown and I just have to work through it.
Anyone else have a breakdown this early after surgery?

I am getting banded 9/21....I'm on my liquid diet now. Final pre-surg testing scheduled for tomorrow. I am 34 and have 3 biological kids, 2 more through marriage...so we are BUSY! I have a background of stage work so I was at one time very small. I haven't been able to get weight off for years now and I'm really looking forward to this journey and change.
I live in the Chicago area and would love someone who has been through this, to join up with me and walk this journey with me! Let me know if you are out there!

I'm in the Chicago area too....My date to be banded is 9/21!
I just got my insurance approval and band date of 9/15!! I'm in the Chicago area, and I'm so excited that I can't sit still. It seems like such a long process, and I'm so relieved to finally get started with this!! It sounds crazy - but I can't wait!

Awesome! We can do this together then! I started yesterday! And I have to say...i'm hungry! But it is a 'mind' hunger??? How can that be!? I am on a complete liquid Meal Replacement through the Dr office. I can add fruit to it and I can have sugar free juice or Jello but that is it! Be grateful you can have things to chew! I just want to chew food! I have this for 14 days then a total fast the day before surgery....how long do you have to do this?
So, title says it all. Tomorrow I start preop diet. My diet is not liquid, so that is a plus. I have to stay under 30 carbs a day. I did a couple of "trial runs" last week and although I have done low carb diets in the past I never realized how restrictive 30 carbs is. One day I only ate veggies and Protein and went to 40. Guess if it gets tough I can just come here and realize that it could be so much worse...i could be on nothing but Protein shakes.
Take care,
J

I get banded 9/21....start my liquid diet on Monday. I have a family BBQ on Sunday so my hope is that I can enjoy a last day of 'full food' before this begins. It is sort of odd and maybe not the wisest thing, but I have been having little 'favorites' this week that I know I can't or shouldn't have after surgery. Has anyone else done this???
I'm quite excited to get started...I got remarried on the 1st of this year (1-1-11) and we are celebrating with a renewal/reception in November so I'm hoping I will have lost a good amount and feel more comfortable at my party!
Looking so forward to getting to know more people who are on this same track!
Go September Bandies!!!

Hi everyone....I was banded last Wednesday, the 21st. My first 24 hours was the hardest. Once I got home, the sleep in my own bed was magnificent! I still am dealing with the gas pain in my upper back/shoulder area but it seems to be only after I eat. I'm barely eating anything, but there must still be gas in there, so any little thing aggravates it. I can now lay on my side and when I lay on my left side, it always helps with the pain. I have to generally lay on my side during the day once or twice. In fact, today is my first day at the office and I'm in a bit of pain this afternoon because of not being able to rest on my side yet.
I feel well all in all. I think someone else mentioned the first 5-6 days are the hardest and I agree. I just keep looking at the milestones though. This Friday I get to change to a new stage in my diet and so I'm looking forward to that! That helps me get through each day.
I hope you all are enjoying your 'new you's' and that we can all keep encouraging each other!
