  1. I would love a copy. How would I get you my email address?
  2. This is my take on the situation. Regardless of what surgery you decided to do, Its your business and no one elses. You can chose who to tell or not to tell, its no ones business. All you owe her is an heads up of I am having surgery or that you are going into the hospital. That's it. I find when you let the wrong people know your business, it van come to bite you in the end. Besides its your place of work, you should be worried about how your boss personally feels about what you have decided for yourself. Hope all works out.. Good Luck
  3. I find that Hood milk works for me.. I purchase the fat free one in the green container. It is 45 cal..8 proteins 3 carbs and 3 sugars per serving... its cool cause you can mix it with hot or iced tea to make a quick protein drink.
  4. Im sorry your in this situation. I think we have all have gone through a period of loneliness one way or another. This isnt only about weight loss or what you look like. Its about who you are. Ive been in your shoes before... but after being single after a 12 year relationship, I found myself.. I found what makes me tick and also found the woman in me way before surgery. As long as you take the time to really love the very person that you are today, you will see doors open for you. We arent guaranteed to see tomorrow so weather I lose to my goal weight or never lose again, the one thing I have learned is to love yourself even if it meant the bigger me. People will start to see who you truely are and you wont be looking for happiness in someone else but you will already have it cause its in you.
  5. AMEN to that... Thank you sweet Jesus!
  6. Hello everyone. I was in the gym today and it felt so good and hurt so bad at the same time. My point tonite is to say to all of those who get down from time to time.. weather it be a stall or if you arent losing as fast as you can is to get moving and do your part. Like everyone hear is an individual and have had different experiences.. so will you. I say this because I dont always have the greatest support system. I dont always have that person who is going to make me feel better. Today I felt down and a little upset about my progress, but then I thought.. Get Up! Move! Go to the gym! So I did.. I finally was able to do 22 min on the elliptical machine which I have never done in my life. I then proceeded to do an hour on the treadmil. I say all of this because a couple of weeks ago I felt that it was over for me, maybe I wouldnt lose anymore.. I wont hit my goal. But then I had to make sure I was doing my part. For some its all about the food intake and it comes off, but for some of us we have to get moving. So if you dont have that support system and you have HATERS! in your life who dont support you, get up and get moving and make sure your doing your part for your success. I have lost almost 60 lbs and have a long way to go but i promise myself that I will not fail myself, because failing myself and not caring enough about my health is what got me here. I thank all of you from this site that write in often because you guys keep me going. I can see the end of my journey through you guys and I know ill be there soon. So next summer I plan on waving to all of my haters to didnt support me cause I got my LIFE BACK! Love you guys.
  7. I want to thank everyone who responded and gave me some positive feed back. It means alot to me that I am not in this alone.. I have started a new regimen with food and it seems to be working. Not only is the scale moving but I feel better too. I finally realize how easy it is to eat a bunch of empty carbs and calories. I say to anyone who is feeling like I have to always try to get back on track.. We are only human and we all need help every once in a while.. LOVE u GUYS!!!!
  8. Hello guys. I am great full tom have this forum to learn so much. I am 5 months post op and have lost almost 60 lbs. 9. I felt the same way when I went to my doctor. But he reassured me and put me at ease by asking me have I ever lost this much weight in 2 weeks let alone 2 months. I replied no. So he said keep up the good work and you will see it come off. He also told me through this journey that we all will be going through phases. Phases of the scale not moving but inches lost and weeks where weight will just drop. So be patient and listen to your body for nutrition and exercise and you will see things work out. Good luck and stay blessed. I have faith in each and everyone of us that we can win this battle. Stay in the fight.
  10. I believe God will tell us and show us the things that we need to know and can handle. Some people dont do well with prophecy due to impatience and lack of faith. So I say wait on the Lord and pray that you will be willing to accept what he has in store on your life.
  11. Hello, I am so happy that you are getting healthy on your own. Surgery will be a tool to help you keep it off if you stick with it. I am 2 weeks post op and so far I have lost 19 pounds. Something that I have never done before. I wanted to address the question about the insurance company. I found in my Quest for approval that all insurance coverage are not created equal. Someone on here can have the same company as you but not have the same benefits as you. I think the best thing to do is call the insurance company and see if the surgery is covered by them and what would portion would be your responsibility. Also find out exactly what they require for approval. This will help with the guessing game. I hope all works out for you. And no matter what happens, just stay positive and make healthy choices for your life. Best wishes and be blessed.
  12. Hello, I went to Dr. Silva in NY. He is a great doctor.
  13. Im 6 days post op. I didnt have a problem getting the liquids down at all, but you do feel a bit of restriction and that can be from the swelling from the surgery. Now for the pain, I cant speak for others but the pain of the actual surgery went away the very next day for me. I only had a little discomfort from the incisions but they are healing very well. I didnt have a drain, I didnt have stitches, just sterie strips which is keeping things together. Im even able to sleep on my sides at night which help with the gas. I hope this info helps you. Good Luck
  14. Hello Everyone, I am officially 4 days post op and feeling better each day. Someone asked to share my hospital experience. Well here it goes. I went in on Wed morning and was prepped for surgery within a half hour. Everyone was very nice. I wasnt nervous because I was Prayed up. I would have to say the waiting was the hard part. Then I was wheeled to the OR and they gave me the GOOD stuff lol. I remember waking up in recovery, the doctor called my mom and gave her a full update on how it went. He said I did great and everything went well. I was under for 2 hours. The first day I was out of it due to the Morpien drip. The hard part came the second night. I forgot about the discomfort of the incisions and some of the pain but the GAS pain that Ive been feeling has been the worst for me. I have asthma and the gas pain seems to sit right on my chest and makes it hard to breath. But I have to tell you everyday it gets better. Follow what your supposed to do. Sip walk take your Vitamins eat your Protein and be as active as possible. This is not the time to sit around and be waited on. You have to heal and get yourself going. The mornings are the hardest because I have been having night sweats really bad and Im only 30 lol. But the during the day my strength gets better. Today I went to the store in the morning and I am about to drive myself to church. I need the Lord right now. Be blessed everyone and ask any questions you may have.
  15. Hi guys. The surgery went well. I'm walking with minimal pain. I didn't know u couldn't drink or eat the first day. My mouth has yucky all day lol. Well its almost time to walk again. Ill keep u posted
  16. Hi Guys, Everyone here has been a great help in helping me through this process. I don't know if I could have done it without you guys. Well Today is the BIG day at 9:30 eastern time. I'm not scared.. just excited about the unknown. Please Keep me in your prayers.
  17. I believe it would be different for everyone. It is all up to what your genetic make up is in where u gain and lose weight. For some they will see their stomach shrink for other maybe their face first. It also depends on how your training your body in workouts. But all in all any healthy weight loss is good weight loss.
  18. Hello All, So after 4 long weeks of battling with my PCP for a letter for the insurance company I finally got a good letter after 3 tries. I called the insurance company and they told me I was approved, but they told me I was going as an outpatient. I'm a little worried being that my doctor told me I was to expect a 2 day stay. Can I get the surgery and come home the same day? By the way I have Oxford.
  19. lotusflwr80 where did you purchase your protein samples from?
  20. Yes I have a 3 week pre op diet.. Hi Protein and low fat.. so at least I can eat.. Lawrence Hospital is in Westchester NY which is about 20 min from my house. The funny thing about my doctor is that my hair dresser recommended him and then I found out that my new best friend had surgery with him 6 years ago. So I think Im in good hands.
  21. Ok great.. Its nice to finally see someone from the area on here. I have a surgery date for June 23rd but still waiting on my PCP to write a proper letter for approval. Can you believe this is her third time writing this thing. I just cant wait till all of this is situated and done. By the way my surgeon will be Dr. Silva at Lawrence Hospital.
  22. Wow.. I am really excited for you and hope to have the same results once I am on the other side of this journey.. I see that you are in NYC.. do you mind sharing who did your surgery?
  23. I have found that I fell in love with Greek Yogurt. Yes the flavored ones are higher in calories, sugars and carbs. I am big on taste and texture and can not eat anything that I remotely think will be nasty. But I have found a new way to enjoy this treat and get some great antioxidants in as well. Maybe this can help someone. I am very new to this eating healthy life as I am getting prepared for surgery, but here it goes: I use a brand called CHOBANI fat free 80 cal 11g Protein 0 fat I mix 2 splanda packs and mix a half cup of fresh berries (blackberries and raspberries). It is also yummy with just the splenda.
  24. Anyone from the NY area getting their surgery done in June?
  25. When I say Family doctor, I meant he is a doctor that my parents use and he has seen me in the past. I chose my PCP because she was in network and close to my home.
