Wow two years, that is great! You are an inspiration to all of us newly sleeved. I hope to do as well as you have done.

    feeling blue

You definitely are not alone. For me, I think Amanda summed it up completely. I have those same thoughts. But on the other hand I am losing and I try to focus on that and the positive side but still those feelings don't just go away. We're right there w ya!

    About to leave

    Good luck to you!
  4. I try to do 3 meals, 3 snacks to get all the Protein.
  5. Okay, no, I don't eat 2 eggs. I eat 1 egg for breakfast and I'm satisfied. Then about 2-3 hrs later I'll have some greek yogurt (not really because I'm hungry but I need to get the protein) I eat about 2 tbsp of it. I have not tried chicken yet.
  6. Hip, I didn't mean to say you are right or wrong, just stating the facts. And I have just started solids too and I find that I'm experiementing to see what I can eat and what I can't and just how much. We had a party on Sat night and I tried bagel dip, I was terrified of eating the bread (pretzel bagels) but I wanted to see how I tolerated it. I was fine. so I pushed it and ate more than I wanted just to "test it out" so I understand that you want to see what you can get away with and what you can't. But once I tested it, I knew I ate too much and I know I don't want to do it again, even though I can.
  7. Definitely eating over a hour of time is a way to allow the food time to get out of your stomach thereby making room for more. That's grazing and it will get you into trouble. It would have been better if you took your 4 oz of shrimp and sat down and ate them and let that fill you up, that's using the tool. That way you are filled up on Protein and it will last. Also you need to not be drinking while you eat or 30 mins after. That also helps the food move through your tool quicker and therefore you feel hungry quicker. What you are doing is finding the ways around the sleeve. It's your choice, use the sleeve or cheat the sleeve. However, I will say, at 1 month out I'm experiementing too. I want to know what I can and can't do so that when I do go out to eat, I don't get into trouble. But its ultimately a choice we have to make.
  8. I had no problem with riding or driving. However I didn't go anywhere far but I don't think it would have been a problem. I was driving by day 4, which was more about me feeling like I wanted to get out. I just went to the grocery but I got out. Clots are a concern though and if you do have to take a long drive, its important to stop every hour and get out and walk around.
  9. Love love love the reference to Little Golden Books! I cracked up when I read your post!
  10. Sending you my best wishes so you get well! Good luck!
  11. I'm a side sleeper, the first two nights I slept on my back. The next night I could sleep on my right side but not my left side. I started sleeping on my left side about night 5. But I didn't have a drain, I would think that would make things difficult depending where that is.

    4 days post op

I suggest trying popsicles or warm broth, one or the other may do the trick to help you get more fluids in.
  13. The unflavored is not the best. Do you have the chicken soup flavor? At 7 days post op that was my best option, plus it was warm and that went down easily. If you do reheat it you still have to adhere to the temp guildline on the package or if it gets too hot it can get funky.
  14. Wow, you are just the strongest person! I'm so glad you are getting good care now and it sounds like things are going in the right direction.

    Trouble gettin the fluids in

I was sleeved April 11 and I go back and forth on what works for me and what doesn't. I, too, am sick of Crystal lIte and I have a cabinet full (hopefully I will go back to it at some point). I have found that rotating drink, food, everything really helps. I did do No Sugar Added Apple Juice diluted with water for a while and it tasted like heaven, for awhile anyway. Try that it may work for you. Right now, I found Meijer has a SF Chocolate Milk with 1% milk. I didn't used to like chocolate but this is the best thing going for me right now!

    Making the Decision

I would really suggest that you read, read, read! All the different posts under all the different topics. It will let you see some of the different success stories, problems that people encounter, suggestions, etc. there are so many different topics and posts and just about everyone at one time has posted his/her story. When I first found this board, I just spent so much time reading what everyone posted and I really learned so much. You get to read about it as it happened and sometimes that is the best way to really try to understand what was happening with the person at that time and was that pre-op or how many weeks post-op, etc. Good luck!

    I need help friends

Hey Ms. Lady, We were sleeved the same day and I'm not allowed whole chicken yet. I'm on purees only. Here's my typical day: start the day with greek yogurt with torani SF peach syrup then I'll have some kind of soup (I look for soup with higher Protein so it usually has some meat or Beans in it) I'll do a 1/2 C of Protein shake (unjury protein mixed with 1% milk and a Tarani SF syrup)- some days I'll do 2 of these then I'll do refried beans, or another soup or mac and cheese or scrambled eggs. As a treat I do Jell-o SF pudding cup. Everything I eat is pureed in the blender, I have stopped straining this week and I hope to move to lunchmeats next week. I'm tolerating everything very well. If you have vomiting, you may want to go to purees, it seems to work well for me. I have noticed this week though, I'm sick of purees and I'm looking for more foods that are naturally pureed, like the refried beans or mashed potatoes (I haven't done mashed pot but they are sounding good right now!) Good luck! I think if you scale it back a little you will be fine.
  19. Doesn't hurt to check w your doc. I will tell you that I had the shakesat 5 days post op. I was just freezing and shaking and my doc it could have been an aftereffect from the anesthesia.
  20. I will say for about a week before my pre op diet started I did some crazy things. Like I went and a big Mac! I haven't eaten a big Mac in years! It wasn't as good as I remembered it and I was glad of that.
  21. I use it, it's a nasal spray that I use for my sinus problems. I have not used as you say for your issue. It is a RX so you would need your dr to prescribe it.

    Mental Health

What about your church? Many religious organizations have counseling services that they offer as a charity. Just a suggestion. Good luck

Day 3 on my 2 week Pre Op Diet....

I would say the worst is behind you! For my day 1 was killer, bad headache, tired, grumpy, miserable! By day 3 I was starting to hit my stride , I kinda got mad at the liquid and developed a " you can't beat me!" attitude. So hopefully you will adjust too. As for hunger, if I really got all the grams of protein they wanted, which was high, 80-90 I wasn't truly hungry( head hunger is a whole different beast)
  24. I had the written test, which really didn't apply specifically to the situation. It was designed to detect mental illness, lots of questions on paranoia, compulsion all stuff like that. And it was 300 questions so it takes a good hour or hour and a half to fill out. Then I had the discussion w the doctor which was much more pertinent to the surgery. So I would say 2-3 depending on how long it takes u to fill it out and how much you talk to the doc.
  25. Oh how true, we all have our issues in our own ways. I appreciate how well you articulate them for us all. It's therapeutic for us all! Amen!
