Hang in there! I know how it feels to have a setback. 2 years ago my insurance wouldn't approve the surgery. Keep working hard and it will happen.

Rachel, I love it! I am glad you had fun. I love WA! So glad it helped with your arthritis! You are rocking along in your weight loss. Congratulations.

Last of the back-of-the-closet jeans

Sending a Whoop-Whoop your way! Congratulations on your success! -
You are doing so well! Congratulations. I did not feel anything until the 3rd fill. That being said, I do not want to feel a lot of restriction. I tend to believe I need to use my self control. I calculate every calorie going into my mouth. It sounds like you have a lot of self control. Wouldn't you rather not PB or slime? I promise it is not fun at all!

Lap Band vs Realize Band ?
brbm6 replied to capawana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor uses Lap-Band only. But I know that there are different port sizes so ask about them. -
I don't know why but we had to pay $400 out of pocket. I even sent in the reinbursement form just in case.........but they didn't refund anything!

My wife and I getting banded Friday July 8th
brbm6 replied to Brucep715's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby and I were banded within a month of eachother. It is definately a bonding experience! It is nice to have someone who knows what you are going through. -
My insurance will pay to have it put in, BUT
brbm6 replied to capawana's topic in Insurance & Financing
Follow your band surgeons rules and you will do fine. There are risks with anything. Go for it! It has been the best decision I have made in a long time. -
I did outpatient. In at 8 and out by 3.

I drink at LEAST 100 oz. of water a day. I track EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth via myfitnesspal.com. I think tracking has really made me aware of what I eat. I also swim every day at least 45 minutes.

You rock! Keep up the great work! I workout in the pool 4-5 times a week. I can burn so many more calories than on the treadmill!

my niece overheard me talking about my upcoming Lap Band surgery today.

Everyone has been very supportibe although there have been several familiy members that have told many people (not out of meanness but because they are proud of my success). I am pretty open with everyone about the band. I think there are so many people out there that mistake us for bypass patients. I have educated a lot of people on the band. I pretty much dismiss any negative comments. We did this for ourselves, our families and our health. It was my decision and I have to live with it. I am proud of my band! -
I haven't tried the dark chocolate mint but it sounds heavenly! I will have to try it next time. I figured it the lesser evil of all the candy bars! Isn't it funny how our perception changes after Lap-Band? I have to make sure that everything fits into my calories for the day now. Cindy you have really done well on the weight loss! You and I started out at similiar weights and have very similiar goals. What are your secrets for success?

My new favorites after band are Cheetos (the puffy kind) and 3 Musketeers. I am glad to say that I now share a 3 Musketeers bar with my 3 kids and am satisfied. Before the band there would have been no sharing! Now I am satisfied with 1/4 of a candy bar.

Flinstones with Iron. My kids and I both take them! Vitamin D 200 mg. I tend to eat string cheese or Baby Bell Light for calcium. I think I will try the energy drink. What brand is it?
-
Me too! I was banded April 5th and have been loosing hair like crazy. Luckily, I too have enough hair for 5 people but still.......I also log all protein so I have been hitting my goal there! Maybe it is just the stress of being newly banded. I hope someone comes along and tells us some supplements to take!

We are human barometers!

I have no problem in the pool. I wonder if it was just hot this morning and no breeze. My band seems to be tighter in the morning.

Has anyone NOT had problems with the Lap-Band
brbm6 replied to hopeful one's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No problems here either. I love my band! I just wish I would have done it sooner. -
Feeling Discouraged..What's the point...?
brbm6 replied to TheBandedPeach's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And, in the water you burn so many calories. Get on myfitnesspal.com or another website and track all food and excersise. I want to say water aerobics is around 300 calories for 1/2 hour. I can burn so many more calories in the water than walking! I had a plateau and the only thing that helped was to increase my water intake to 100 oz. or more per day. You may try drinking more water. Hang in there, when you get the right fill you will see the weight come off! -
How much water do you drink a day? I noticed when I stalled that if I increased my water intake to 100 oz. it made a difference. Maybe up calories and water intake.
-
You will get through this. And you will be able to eat food again. Will it be in the same portions as before band? No. But you won't miss it. Hang in there. It gets better!

Finding it difficult getting fluids down
brbm6 replied to b_rad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Acadia, I am so glad you told us about this. My surgeon did not put any fluid in but I had 2.2 cc's already in when I went for my first fill. I guess it was a passive fill. This is great information. -
I wrote about my experience with my first fill on my blog as well. It was in May. I will say, I have them numb it now. I think my port is a little hard to get!
-
I would do it again in a heartbeat!
