  1. I am scared of failing but I am more afraid of dying from obesity problems. Before I have been an all or nothing dieter. This time I am practicing moderation. Maybe that in itself will cause successs. Just because I have one bad day does not mean I can not start fresh the next morning.

Lost 77 lbs, still feel "fat"?

I know exactly how you feel. I still feel fat. And by medical standards I still am. Am I a lot healthier than when I began? Yes. Am I a lot skinnier? Yes. But I still feel fat because I have a long way to go to be in a normal BMI. Congratualtions on your success this far. Keep going! We will get there eventually.
  3. What you are feeling is completely normal. I will say that as the numbers began to go down I asked myself "why didn't I do this sooner?".

    Help for Depression

Great post! I have had depression on and off and am going to try the Omega-3. Thanks!

    Jealousy

I agree OH WELL! We are doing this for our health and if someone wants to become a little cocky after loosing a bunch of weight then more power to them! My family and friends have been super supportive. I am lucky. I haven't heard any negative comments yet. But, I wouldn't listen anyway............I feel so much better (health wise and emotionally).
  6. I have had to learn to just take care of myself. What others put in their mouths is their business. It has been hard. Just remember you are doing this for your health.

    Had my band removed...now what?

Do you log every calorie? Try one of the free websites like myfitnesspal.com
  8. I checked their website out. www.brandsurgical.com There is a place to contact them. We all need to write and complain about that ad. It looks like they are a cosmetic surgery center in L.A.
  9. Completely normal. I would gain/loose the same 2 or 3 lbs for weeks. It is frustrating. I have to log everything I eat and excersise. I use myfitnesspal.com. Also, I learned if I do not drink at least 100 oz. of water a day my weight stalls. Try weighing only once a week. It will be less frustrating.
  10. Ask your pharmacy for Meclizine. It is an over the counter medication for motion sickness and vertigo. Works very well!

Okay, maybe I am just sensitive because I have been overweight for years BUT...............I would NEVER make a comment about someone expecting. Don't let it bother you though. Use this as a reason to focus on your weight loss!

    Lap-Band in a week!

My surgeon told me on the day of my surgery that he would be worried about me if I did not have jitters. What you are feeling is normal! This has been a great decision for me. I hope your journey is as smooth as mine! Good luck.
  13. I'm good. What about you? Your new profile pic looks completely unlike your former one!!!! Isn't it wonderful!?

    New from Texas

Hi! Welcome to LBT. I live in Granbury, TX (just south of Ft. Worth). I am a stay at home mom to 3 girls. Congrats on your success!
  15. OMG! You read my mind. I went bra shopping this morning and cup sizes were all over the map. I decided that I will go to Dillards or Nordstrom and be professionally fitted when I loose a little more. Until then............sports bras are my new thing!

    Is it normal?

I just had my 3rd fill and I must admit I am hungry. Very hungry! I feel a little restriction but I really have to use my willpower!
  17. I too am the only heavy one in a family of skinnies. It makes you feel like a real outsider. I told my mom who blabbed to all my siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents........basically anyone who would listen. I don't think she did it to be mean but, she does tend to tell me what I can and can not eat. But, I listen to my own body. Do I wish I hadn't told her? Sometimes. My friends have been the most supportive and my husband who is also banded. Bottom line........it is a personal choice to tell or not.
  18. I learned the hard way............after the band. One stuck episode and I never want to be stuck again!
  19. I second this! Without the band I may be able to loose but I always gain back + extra! It is a tool. You will still have to do the work! It is by no means a quick fix.

    GAS, PLEASE HELP

The heating pad is the only thing that helped me. It was a life saver.
  21. I don't and will not listen to negative comments. I feel much better about myself and I think it probably comes across. Those with "negative" comments are mostly people who think the band is bypass. So, I try to educate them. You will be so proud of yourself! It seems you have the right mind-set to have a very successful journey.
  22. It is miserable and hurts so bad Sorry you had to endure it!

    What's YOUR guilty pleasure?

I think Cindy is right. From the beginning I have not treated this as a diet but a new lifestyle. Therefore, if I want icecream I take a BITE. If I want chocolate I have a fun size 3 Musketeers. There is a big difference between what I would have ate pre-band and now. I now know my limits. I track my calories. Moderation is the key. I think if I just NEVER gave in to some treats I would be miserable and eventually fall off the wagon. This is my new life. I actually found this whole topic postive. I think it shows we all have self control now and a little indulgence now and then won't hurt us!

There's A Lap Band In There?

Most doctors won't do a fill until 6 weeks post-op. You are in the stage that is lovingly called "Bandster Hell". It may take several fills to feel satisfied after a small meal. Now is the time to use your will power. I recommend tracking every bite that enters your mouth. I use myfitnesspal.com but there are other free sites as well. Tracking calories is what has helped be be accountable. When I think I am hungry I drink about 16 oz. of water and wait 15-20 minutes to decide if it is real or head hunger. Good luck! We have all been in this stage. Hang in there. It gets easier.
  25. My doctor did not numb me the first time. The second and third time I asked for a numbing shot. I think it depends on where your port is and how easily accessible it is. I am just a big chicken though and would rather feel nothing. Either way, the fill is totally worth it!
