How did you handle getting to eat your favorite meal?
brbm6 replied to Ssauce74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you watch how "thin" people eat you will notice they eat everything just in very small quanitities and are satisfied. That is what I love about the band. Yes, you can eat your favorite foods again but, not in portions that are ridiculously large. A bite or two will be plenty. Chew, chew, chew and enjoy the new you! You will be learning a new skill....moderation. -
Banded yesterday Aprill 5th
brbm6 replied to momof3armybrats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was the 5th also. Yesterday wasn't that bad but today I am really sore! Congratulation on your new life! Isn't it exciting? -
My husband is taking me to and from the surgery but tomorrow night he has a big meeting he has to speak at. I did not ask him to reschedule because I think that would be ridiculous. My mom is coming to stay with me tomorrow evening. I know exactly what you are thinking. There is not a thing he could do for you that your mom can not take care of you. And, if we are really being honest, most (notice I said most NOT all) women are better caregivers. Have a great day tomorrow! I can't wait to start our new lives!

Yep! She said it just like that. Oh well! Some people are never happy! I am just happy to be starting my new life....27 lbs. down and about a hundred more to go! Yipee! For once in my life I feel I can do it!

On week two of liquids and protein shakes are getting a little boring...I need some ideas. Soups, smoothies, etc. Recipes would be appreciated. Thanks!

3 more days until my surgery! YEAH! I am ready to start the new me. I have been on liquids now for 2 weeks and am already down 17 lbs. Does anyone have any good soup ideas? My shakes are fine but are getting boring!

Surgery Day is tomorrow 4/5
brbm6 replied to GSORob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My I am having surgery tomorrow also. I am not nervous either...just excited and ready. My clothes are already a bit baggy too! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Good luck! -
I would doubt that would get in the way of the surgery. Especially if you have been really good. We all make mistakes. Just get back on the wagon tomorrow. 2 hard boiled eggs and a PB&J are hardly a hamburger and fries!

Newbie~awaiting approval~getting cold feet :0/
brbm6 replied to isabella2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had cold feet the first time I talked seriously with a surgeon (2 yrs. ago) and I like you thought why can't I do this on my own. I guess I felt a little cocky and didn't go through with the surgery. Needless to say, it has been 2 yrs. and I have gained a good 20 lbs. extra to loose. Since meeting with my surgeon (a new one), I am sure this is the right time and surgical staff for me! Sometimes things just don't fit! Have you talked to any other surgeons? Maybe you should see a few and make a decision on who would be best for you. At least then, you have some control over the situation. It may make you feel a bit better. Then again, it may just be cold feet. You have to make the decision as what is right for you and the pick the right time! Good luck. -

Mine is April 5th too. I have BCBS Tennessee and I live in Texas...small world! -
I have Muscle Milk chocolate but I just tried the unjury vanilla and it is really yummy! You can order it online. They actually make special mixes for Bariatric patients. The trick I have found is to add about 1/2 of a small packet of Splenda or Truvia. No extra calories and a bit sweet. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. I have found everyone on here really supportive.

Don't beat yourself up about slipping...it happens to us all! Start with 2 liquid protein shakes and one small meal of grilled fish/chicken and lots of veggies. I found the 4 oz. size cups of yogurt a necessity if I really needed something between. Hang in there! You will be fine.

I am excited too! I don't even mind the Protein shakes and liquid diet. My surgery is April 5th and I can not wait. My goal is to be fit and healthy by 40! (1 1/2 yrs. to go!) I do not care if I end up a size 8 or 16 as long as I feel good. I think that is what has made this such an easy decision for me (I backed out 2 yrs. ago) this time. I am mentally ready...I can not wait to start my life again. I want to be the strong mom that my girls will admire. -
