Ok so I've been a lurker for the past few months. I got a lot of info on the band from this site during my fairly short decision/waiting period. (when I decide to do something I don't like to wait long to do it). So long story short I was banded on July 29th of this year. My weight before pre op diet was 520 (something I didnt know because my height hid it well and I stayed away from scales from fear of knowing) Sooooo
Today a few days short of 3 months from banding I hit 419. 101 pounds in just around 3 1/2 months including pre op diet.
I never thought it would work this good, and I know it will slow down as I reach my goal but Im very happy and I thank you all for your support and guidance.

    Dear All
I had my band a year ago July in Belgium and made my target 101 pounds to lose. By the end of the year I had lost 107.5 and 90.5 inches.
I am now bouncing around at approx 9st 10lbs give or take 2 lbs so very pleased. In total I have lost 117lbs and 93.75 inches.
Can't quite believe that I have lost it but never doubted that the band was the right tool for me.
    Have fun and stay focused.

Cazzy! We should do a thread for people who have lost over 200!
I have lost 278lbs since my highest and 228 since the LapBand was placed! I plan to lose 300 lbs since the band and 350 from my highest. I used to wear a 6xl and now I wear a Large. I've had plastics done - and I am in better physical condition today than I was in my 20's! I love my LapBand!

150 lbs lost here, took 11 months to reach my goal of 135, lost a little more and loosened up the band completely over a year ago. Stepped on the scale today, still weighing 152 where ive comfortably sat ever since loosening it up. Couldn't be happier. :-)

Posted not long ago, but thought I'd post again. The reason is that I'm no longer considered being overweight from a BMI standpoint.
Currently at 105lbs down (263 to 158). The largest pants I bought were a size 24. I just bought a pair that were a size 6. The largest shirt size I bought was a 3X. I'm now buying size Small.

I was banded on June 10th 2010, I have lost 104 lbs!! My best advice to any who feel like their band isn't working or your not losing fast enough...don't give up. I took me almost 2 yrs. The weight comes off slowly, but it's a much healthier way to lose. I would do it again in a second!

We have lost over 100lbs each. I have lost 165lbs and Deb has lost 135lbs. We lost 100lbs before surgery and around 200 since surgery. I am so glad to read your stories and hope to see many others. Some people don't need to loss 100lbs, but you are still winners. I had not been on the sight for a while and I really enjoy this thread.

How has loss of 100 pounds changed my life? Here are just a few off top of my head.....

I can go out in public and not be embarrassed.
    I can wear bluejeans comfortably.
I can fit into booths at resteraunts and movie theaters without problems.
My legs don't rub together catching my pants on fire....:nervous
My nieces and nephews can sit on my lap, I never had one before.
I have more confidence in myself to get up in front of crowds now.
I can wear a seatbelt in the vehicle now (before it would not fit)
I don't suffer from severe depression anymore.
I have energy to exercise and do more outdoors things with my husband.
I can shop for clothes in my hometown instead of ordering everything from plus size catalogs.
The JOY I get if I pass someone I know who has not seen me in a long time and they don't recognize that it is me!!! :clap2:
My favorite...My husband tells everyong he got a new wife and did not even have to get a divorce.:kiss2: See attached photo of how it looks.....

    Hi Everyone-
It has been on my mind lately to start a new post as a positive, motivational, and inspiring thread. I have noticed several threads lately where those considering surgery are asking if it is 'possible' to lose 100 pounds with the band. My answer to that is...Yes, it definitely is. Many say it is not realistic. But I have watched the amazing progress of LBT members on the board, and believe it is not only realistic, it is happening to many of our LBT members all around us. And for those that aren't quite there yet, many members are extremely close. As time goes by with lapband increasing in popularity and the number of LBT members growing everyday, I believe the list is only going to increase by leaps and bounds.
Any and all weight loss is a huge accomplishment for us all. While I realize that many members don't need to lose 100 pounds or more, many do. And for those who do, it offers not only motivation to see that other bandsters have done it...but most importantly it offers the hope that it can be done with the band!
This will be a running thread to offer positive motivation, inspiration, hope, and encouragement. Please PM me or post here to have your name added to the growing list when you hit 100 pounds lost, or if you want your amount lost updated. Congratulations to everyone on any and all weight loss!

I agree with the others. The past is gone and you can not change it, so change your future. Start fresh and do not beat yourself up. Tomorrow is another day. You can do this. No one said it would be easy, but with some faith and encouragement we all can do this!!!

I sound like a broken record, but this site is full of support, motivation and valuable information, so stick around and when you're struggling hit the success stories, beore/after pctures or anything that will help you get through the rough spots.
Most of us have broken the rules at some point.

Remember why you are doing this.

Skdeleon, I can feel your frustration and I can completely relate, I was spending months on months getting fills every three weeks, and never feeling any restrictions, I was getting a lot of the same responses you are, it made me feel that I was not working with the band or trying hard enough and That is what made me feel like a failure, then I found out I had a leak, after my second surgery and second fill I still was not feeling restricted when I went in for a 3rd fill my doctor also said I was where I needed to be and instead tested my metabolism and said it was low, after another 3 months and Reading Alex’s post “Finding the Lap Band Green zone” I knew I was not there. Basically went into my doctors and begged for a fill they gave me .25 cc ….And IT DID IT!
I GET IT! So if you are struggling with hunger I would very much suggest a fill, The green zone dose exist and I know you are not a failure.

Same here. My band was unbuckled so it was like I didn't have a band. Please have your dr. do an upper GI to check.
I had my band replaced and wow, what a difference.
Also, it is hard to change a lifetime of thoughts and practices. I have trouble eating correctly too. I know I need therapy to help with my issues but cannot afford it.
Don't beat yourself up or let others put you down. I have been there and it hurts like hell.
    Get it checked out!

I have a terrible doctor. He is an awesome surgeon and a terrible doctor. He doesn't like fat people and he doesn't like to give fills. He says that people use the fill as a crutch. He has many many patients that see him a few times and never go back bc he berates them for wanting his help.
There is not a lot of competition here or he would be out of business.
Some doctors, like some people are just jerks and have pathology just like anybody else.
Go back or find someone to work with you. The
band doesnt work without restriction in addition to you making good choices.
Some people should be more supportive. It isn't like we don't all have food issues to a destructive degree and live with the negative consequences.

I have a amazing fill nurse... My surgeon told me that I was a lapband failure... I was hurt, angry and depressed. I spoke to my nurse after almost a year... She told me
    1. You've LOST 40 lbs.
    2. Diabetes is gone.
    3. Fibromyalgia is in remission.
    4. You are in so much better health now, than you were when you got your band.
    5. Lets get you a small fill and hut that sweet spot.
She gave me a small fill and it was perfect.... She told me that a failure is when there is a leak. And when you need a fill. I met a lady that day at the office and she told me that, she just needs tighter fill for hers to work... We are all different and for anyone to suggest that you are lazy, irresponsible or otherwise, is completely rude, insensitive and idiotic... Please go get another fill. Success is so close.... Only failure to accept is if you have a faulty band. Otherwise keep swimming, you'll get there.

Firstly, you are not a failure! Sounds to me as though your dr was not listening to you. Can you be more assertive in insisting on a fill? Explain that you are able to eat larger portions, that you are getting hungry after short periods of time and that your weight loss has stalled. Reassure him that you are making healthy food choices and are exercising, because if all of these things are true then you almost certainly need a fill. These are the standard questions that my surgeon discusses with me every time I go in for a visit. Sometimes I come away without a fill because we agree (i.e. my care is a partnership!)
If he still refuses, then I would be looking for another dr to manage my care.
