I did my first coffee today (beginning 5 weeks), I got a skinny cinnamon dolce at SB.....yum. It got me to wondering what other folks order. Do you make it a treat and do full fat, full sugar or do you try to make it leaner........also, is there any way to make mine any better?

I upgraded before surgery to the fancy H.O.M scales, but beforehand I had the $25 set from Walmart and they worked very well. I just didn't like that other people could access my user account by just tapping once or twice on the scale (4 neices who love to play with scales everytime they visit) so decided to upgrade to more "private" type of account access, but if you have no worries on that - they're great!

I am on week 5 myself and had a soft taco supreme from Taco Bell pureed (no shell of course) with lettuce and I had no problems with it, although my tummy did make a little more noise than usual, but my diet has been fairly bland. I have also had a bit of cabbage from an egg roll when eating the pork from it and had no problems. Going out for chinese has been great, egg drop Soup is so yummy, and I feel like a normal person again

Thanks for the quick answers. I guess I was thinking more of making it mushy rather than thinking about the fact that it's bread. Definitely don't want that uncomfy feeling, had it once, and ick!
Bird feed sounds like a good idea....thanks for the idea

Hi guys, just wondering what some vets think........I have about a half loaf of wheat bread left over from my neice's visit this past week, and was wondering if I could do french toast with it, since I am on mushy stage. Was thinking I could add more egg than normal and make it really mushy, and have sugar free Syrup to use.
This would not be a normal occurance, just hate to waste food if I don't have to.....what are your thoughts?

I have battled high blood pressure for about 10 years, starting in my early 20's (scary to start so young) and in the last 5 years had it moderated with diet and no meds. It was averaging reading of 130's over 90's and pulse rate was usually in the 90's. The past week I've been monitoring my BP and it has been averaging 110's over 60's with my pulse rate in the 60's!!!!!! One reading was even 108/52......AMAZING!!!!!! Thank you sleeve, lol.

I wouldn't worry much. I'm just starting week 4 and I have only lost about 14 pounds so far. However, my mantra is "a loss is a loss, is a loss". As long as I'm making smarter choices most of the time and getting in fluids, then whatever may be may be. Besides, I think with slower weight loss it gives your body more of a chance to keep up, not to mention your skin to rebound. Just keep making good choices and it'll happen.

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult recovery. I hope things improve for you soon. You're in my thoughts.

I guess I need to try and increase my Water intake another 20 ounces or so and see what happens.....and disregard the rest. I'm really trying not to obsess about the details, but it's not easy. Thanks for the help

I bought some of the fancy scales that you can set up a user account and it will show your weight, body mass, body fat %, and Water %. I was going through my history this morning (16 days) and noticed that my body fat % is actually higher now than the first day of weigh in. How is that possible? Does it mean I'm losing muscle instead of fat right now? Also, does anybody know a proper Water level, I'm averaging about 28%?
Thanks

May have to try standing up and see if that helps. Thanks for the help.

Still a newbie and just wondering if anybody else breaks out in a sweat after they eat? Fluids, broths and Protein Drinks don't do it, but anything with substance does. Is this a normal side effect with transitioning to next levels?

SinDLou, you are in my prayers.
Wishing speedy recoveries to all the late March sleevers.

I'm only 10 days out from surgery, and had a weight GAIN yesterday and today. It just sucks and I'm bummed. It's just frustrating to have a gain this soon. Grrr!

We all know the gas is pretty bad after surgery. I've been trying Gas-X and such, but would reeally like a real burp to help out, but have had no luck in producing a burp. Is this common? Will I ever be able to? That instant pressure release is sorely missed

I'm doing pretty good, still a little tender on my left side and under my largest incision, otherwise - all good. Having a little trouble getting in my liquids, but I'm working on it. How are you doing TexasLady?

I had my surgery Monday at Crestwood in Huntsville. It's a smaller hospital, but I have absolutely no complaints about my time there. The nurses were wonderful and my surgeon (Facundus) was great. I highly recommend!

I was sleeved on the 21st too! Today is the first day I have really felt good. I've had it pretty easy, no problems or pain, just uncomfortable. Today was better so I did some housework - laundry (no lifting) and dishes.....but think I did too much, was in pain a few hours later and actually had to take meds. So, take it easy, just not too easy, lol. Wishing us all most amazing results!

My surgery was Monday and I was an overnight. I took only the clothes on my back and my purse, with MP3 player and chapstick and brush. I used the chapstick once and pretty much slept the rest of the time since I couldn't sleep the night before. Also, my pain pump wasn't working for about the first hour and I was hardly screaming, lol. I just felt very uncomfortable - but we all experience pain differently.
-
I was sleeeved Monday (3/21). It's been an okay expereience. No real pain, just very uncomfortable feeling, and the nausea is no fun. Would I do it again,,,,,,,oh yeah. Good luck and Godspeed everyone.

I need to be getting up in 5 hours to get ready and travel for my surgery, but I just can't sleep. So, just wondering how many actually slept the night before.

Thanks everybody for your responses. I know that everyones mileage may vary, it's just nice to have a general idea since I haven't gotten the lists yet. I have a fear of eating the wrong thing too soon and causing damage, but thanks for the help......

Okay, i have a couple of questions for clarification, and would appreciate input. I know there are different diets and mine is 1 clear, 2 full, 2 puree, 2 mushy.
My questions are;
Is 1% milk clear or full?
Cottage cheese is mushy or earlier? I loves me some cottage cheese!
Egg drop, which stage do you no longer have to strain it?
SF pudding, which stage?
Lastly, which stage could I add in SF cool whip to Protein drinks and puddings?
Thanks for any help guys, some of this stuff can be pretty confusing. Or maybe the drop in calories of the pre-op diet have turned my brain to mush, lol.
Have a great day and thanks for reading.

I remember a while ago there was an episode of House MD on TV about a guy that was making money hiring himself out as a guinea pig and taking all kinds of medications, one antacid he was taking allowed the bezoar to form and some other drugs got caught in the thing and failed to dissolve - hence his problem he was hallucinating because of the undissolved medication was breaking loose and finally hitting his system at a much higher dose then originally planned. That's how *I* know what a bezoar is.
Who says sitting around and watching TV isn't good for something
Haha, that's where I hear of bezoars as well. Also heard it later on Strange Addictions with a girl who pulled her hair and ate the follicles.
unbelieveable
