  1. I was off for 6 weeks since my company does not allow you to come back to work with restrictions of any kind. I had to use all of my sick and personal time but did not have to use any of my vacation time. After that, short term disability kicked in. I t really was not much of a hassle as far as paperwork. I would recommend talking to someone in HR to see what your company's procedures are for applying for short term disability.

  2. Hi all, I just needed to vent and get some opinions from others.

So, I went out to eat with my mother tonight to Ruby Tuesday's (can we say yum?) She had weight loss surgery almost 30 years ago and I have had mine. I choose to be kind of tight lipped about my surgery and she will openly tell anyone about hers.

So we ordered our food, appetizers for both of us and she was telling the waitress that we both have reasons that we can't eat that much, yada, yada, yada without ever "saying" we had surgery. She did the same kind of thing when we got to go boxes for our food. Now, granted she has done this explaining ever since she had her surgery, but it aggravates the dickens out of me. I mean, really, does the waiter/waitress really care what you order or how much you eat of it??! Do I owe them an explanation? No! However for some reason she feels she has to explain it, and now explain it for me as well. I have told her how I feel about it, but it doesn't change anything. It's just frustrating!

Anyways, how do feel about it - do you explain or not when you go out to eat. By the way, if I were asked if the food was okay, because of how little I ate, I would just say "Yeah, my eyes were just bigger than my stomach." Lol, how true is that now?

Thanks for the read, look forward to some opinions on this.

  3. Thanks, just ordered the book, looking forward to trying it out....thanks for the info.

I would definitely start with the book. Like Stacy mentioned, Callan Pinckney is a bit annoying sounding on the DVD. I mean not enough to where I won't use them (I just bought them after 20+ years but have had the book this whole time), but the book at least you can read all of her history and the before/after photos are really motivating.

Good luck all!!! You will LOVE it!!! Especially the results. :D

  4. Yeah, I didn't have any complications either (unless you consider plantar fasciatis (sp?) a complication, lol). I did mess up once and had to throw up but it was when I first started on solids again. You're doing great, my exercise program isn't nearly as dedicated as yours, I'm just doing some strength training 3-4x a week and increasing activity through the day. so go you, lol.

I'd love to meet up, maybe after summer....I don't do well with heat at all (even that is improving with surgery - amazing!)

  5. I had outpatient surgery. It was fairly uneventful for me. I woke up from surgery and actually had a faulty pain pump, only working the first time, but it was far from more than I could handle, uncomfortable yes, but bearable. The only real problem I had was getting my kidneys to work after surgery, and they threatened me with a catheter, which made me very dedicated to getting them to work, lol.

Best of luck - and a side note, my doc did say that most insurance companies would approve a longer stay if there are any complications, so if there is a reason for you to stay longer, you will. I even stayed 2 hours after my allowed time "off chart" .

  6. I'm far from an expert, but have you tried playing with Protein and carb counts?Increasing Protein amount for a week or so,or increasing carbs (fruits and veggies) for a while to shake things up a bit? Maybe you've been too good at following the same rules and your body has adapted to it. Also make sure Water is at a good level? I know the weeks I eat a little more (more grazing during the day) I tend to lose more. Just a suggestion to try?

Hope things get better, and I agree, not comparing is the hardest part of this journey. You see all these super success stories and when you don't match up, well, it just kinda sucks! On the other hand, this has been the easiest weight loss strategy I have ever had.
