  1. Day 2 here also. Good luck and smaller waistlines to all of us!
  2. Today was my 1st day of the diet too, all protein drink and water. It wasn't too bad as far as hunger, but I was nauseous. Anybody else have that?
  3. Well, I start the all liquid pre-op diet tomorrow. It may be a little silly, but I spent a lot of today cleaning out my cabinets and fridge and taking food to my family. All I have left if chicken broth, tomato soup, and apple juice in my kitchen, lol. I'm really hoping I can stick to this, I've done Atkins drinks before, but you at least get a meal a day with those! Oh well, happy thoughts, think happy thoughts!
  4. Thanks for the info, I ordered some of the chicken soup from Unjury cause I know I'll get sick of nothing but sweet. I wasn't really hungry today, but was very nauseous most of the day....really hoping that changes.
  5. Hi, I was just wondering about how much variance there is on hospital stays, barring any complications. I was told, up to 3 days.....anybody out there with less?

    Less than 24 hrs

Good luck and speedy recovery to both of you!
  8. I have so many, but I'll narrow it down to: Not breaking out into a sweat everytime I walk outside in the summer To not be breathing heavy after even a little exertion To sit in the floor and then be able to get back up I'd also really like to try rock wall climbing, just looks so fun!

    Update on surgery

Congrats on getting bumped up. Hope you get all the red tape figured out for work, I'm in much the same boat....work just trying to make the situation more difficult than it should be. Good luck and speedy recovery!
  10. Looks like it varies a good bit. I'm hoping for an overnight and leaving the next AM, I hate hospitals, you are always getting woke up, and it's so loud. I'd much rather be home to recover......but ultimately, I guess my body's reaction will determine that, huh?

    Strange Dreams

I had one last night that startled me awake. Someone told a friend of mine that I had died, and she replied "in surgery, right? Well, I tried to tell her!" in such a cold tone, or at least that's all I remember of it. I know it's our anxiety playing havoc, but it doesn't make it any less disturbing.

Oh, okay. Well, good luck, and definitely let us know how you are as soon as you feel up to it. littlemassey - have you had surgery yet, or have a date?

    Unsupportive Sister and Mother

I've been very lucky and my family supports me, even if they don't exactly want me to have surgery. I did however have one friend (thin all her life, of course) who just would not quit. I finally told her that when she could do the dying for me, then she could live my life, until then, it was my decision. Now we just don't talk about it.
  16. You're not alone in your thoughts. This is my fear as well. You read all these amazing success stories and wonder if it will really work for you? All I know for sure, is that I have dieted myself into obesity, so I know I need to do something different. Besides, we will never succeed unless we try, right? Oh, and I've been overweight since I was 4, so I can understand that part too....not sure which is worse, having never known thin, or knowing it and becoming obese?

I'm having it at Crestwood in Huntsville, so where is Trinity?

I'm not far off, in Montevallo, getting sleeved the 18th....local support would be great!
  19. Been away since Dec. since I thought I was destined for the DS. However, somehow, some way, my Dr.'s office got me approved for the VSG (my first choice). Not only that, but I'm scheduled for the 18th! Now, all the little details have me a little frazzled.........drain tubes, Heparin shots, and the fact that it's actually happening. I'm not complaining, believe me, I've been blessed with a miracle.....it's just a lot to take in. Any comforting words from some vets out there?
  20. sychadelic

Yay! I get my VSG instead of DS

Cheri and movetolose - Thanks so much for the replies, glad to be back Colette - can I just say oww, the shattered finger does sound pretty bad. Here's hoping your paperwork flies through Cathy - good to know another March sleever, good luck to you too
  21. Just wondering if anyone knows about either Dr. Lee Schmitt or Dr. Tim Christopher in Alabama? :001_unsure:
  22. Just wondering if anyone knows one way or the other. The last time I had surgery (year and half ago) I was told no green tea for 10 days before surgery due to blood thinning effects of the tea. Did anyone get this warning for the sleeve procedure?
  23. sychadelic

Give up green tea for surgery?

Glad to hear it, keeping away from sodas will be pretty hard by itself.
  24. I'm new to this and was wondering what everyone's first step was. Did you call your insurance co. first, talk to your pcp, or go to the bariatric office first? I know it can depend on your insurance coverage, but just wondering. Have a great day!
  25. sychadelic

    What was your first step?

Wow, so many responses, lol. Well, I decided to call my insurance company first, and see if bariatric surgeries were excluded on my policy or not. Luckily, they do cover all forms of bariatric surgery. I also found out I don't need a referral, so I just need to find a surgeon. I've found 2 local surgeons who seem to have great reviews. I've looked around and found seminars just about every Sat. morning and support group Sat. afternoons, I'm just wondering which would be better to go to first.
