  1. Yes, they asked me to do the same, my wife as well when she had a different surgery. Although twice a day for 4 days seems a little excessive. Better safe than sorry.

    body oder

Chances are it's ketosis, keytones are coming out of solution since you are burning fat. Not only can you stink worse but you also have a funny sense of small, so some of MIGHT be you and some of it might be your sense of smell thinking you smell bad. Try a mouth wash and tongue scraper to clean up your mouth which also helps your sense of smell too.
  3. Everyone has heard about it, the infamous Mayan calendar that "runs out" on our date of 12/21/2012 and all the doomsday predictions that go along with it. And we all know it's all just nonsense. The "date" of course coincides with the Southern Solstice and has nothing whatsoever to do with numbers in the date 12/21/2012. Our modern calendar is basically just an arbitrary number with arbitrary names of months and days, it has no link whatsoever with any type of celestial events. It's not even accurate as far as enumerating the years since Christ's birth. For us northern hemisphere dwellers it will be the first day of winter, for those in the southern hemisphere the first day of summer. So all nonsense aside, is anyone planning any events or celebrations? We will be going out to dinner, as we do practically every Friday night. Beyond that nothing. I for one am exceedingly glad it's the winter solstice as the days will become longer and I will actually have time to ride my bike after work should weather cooperate. Jay Leno says it's going to be a terrible day as everyone will have to fight the crowds of Mayans that didn't do their Christmas shopping thinking the world was going to end BTW: the EXACT MOMENT of the solstice is 11:12 AM UTC. So take your time zone offset (in the USA -5 for the eastern, -6 for central, -7 for mountain and -8 for pacific) and subtract it form 11:12. Here in central it will be 5:12 am on Friday 12/21/2012.

    problems with sleep

I'm over two years out and sleeping a lot worse than I used too. After I hit puberty I have had bad insomnia issues, since being sleeved they are worse. I was tossing and turning till 12:30 last night, got up and stayed up till 3:45 then went back to bed only to wake up about 5am. I've tried a few sleep pills, Ambian and Lunesta but they only help you fall asleep, not keep you asleep or make you sleep. Sucks.
  6. Me too, I used to NEVER bruise, now I get them all the time.
  7. 2 years out and in the last month I have gained about 3 pounds. Part of it is eating crap for the holidays and par tof it is eating more out of sheer boredom. With the early nightfall and cold weather I cannot ride my bike and my job is very, very slow now and I have many hours with little to do. We have NO budget and NO projects. Once better weather and daylight return I should ramp up my biking and hopefully work will pick up and I can lose the few extra pounds. While I hate it and really want to get rid of them having 3 or 5 pound extra is a far cry from the nearly 200 pounds I carried pre-op.

    I am advanced member!

    I'm a "sleeve master", woo-hoo
  9. Well, I had the VSG Monday and was back to work Friday, to dang short in my book. Felt like crap for about 2 months and then felt better. Starting to exercise really helped out a lot.

    Straws?

Nope. there is NO issue. You do not swallow any more air than when you sip a cup straight. This is just an old wives tale. I've been using straws for the 2 years I've been post op, yes I get gas occasionally but no more so than when I DON'T use a straw, it's just part and parcel of having a teeny tiny stomach.
  11. Yes, be careful with it but I too do not see that it's infected. If it were red and swollen and oozing pus and serum then I'd be concerned. Ask the doc to be sure. What probably happened is that the incision was not closed with stiches, staples or steri strips, or it WAS and split open by them being removed too soon. I had a cancerous growth removed that did this. My largest incision also was not stiched and I used steri strips once I got home. Their thinking, I guess was that there needs to be an opening to allow any possible drainage out. The wound must heal from the inside out or it may abcess and THAT can get really nasty. Stiches, staples or steri strips keep the edges closer so the can heal together and therefore keeps the scarring smaller. The body is filling in the open area and you will likely have a broader flatter scar. The only way to get it fixed now is to let it heal a bit more then have a doctor recut it and THEN close it with stitches, staples or steri strips.

    Body smell after vs

I too would suspect it's ketosis, and yes it affects your breath, small and taste and is the keytones eminating from the burning of fat - which also comes out in your perspriation. It will lesson soon. Remarkably as I lost weight my BO got better, I used to have a very acidic, sour smell. Now I barely perspire and when I do it's a very mild smell. Pre-op I would have to turn my side of the bed down when I awoke just to air it out before the next night's sleep - PU! Now I am fine, just another benefit of WLS.
  13. Too late! And on the sub-thread of an affair, just be careful, there are MANY things are at stake, not only the marriage but there are legal, ethical and even health ramifications at stake. Don't play with fire unless you accept the fact that you may get burnt. And BTW: Any chronic heart burn suffers that desire relief I would like to offer my services free of charge - just out of the goodness of my heart mind you OH, and this offer is for GALS ONLY! Not that there's anything wrong with the other ya' know.
  14. Just eat slowly and your sleeve will let you know when it's enough, and trust me one or two spoonfuls more is TOO much and you will be miserable and in pain.

Anyone more then 2 years out?

Not till just this fall / winter, seems the cut back in exercise (too cold and dark to ride my bike) and the holiday food have led me to put on about 2 pounds. I am trying to cut back, to lose it again, it's a LOT easier than it used to be, at least I don't have the constant gnawing hunger like I used to.
  17. They are right it's the inner ear and the eyes sending conflicting messages about which way is right side up, eyes say one way the inner ear is saying another and the poor brain gets confused and as with many other things it causes dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

    My fat

Shows how different we all are, my fat was largely inter-abdominal, that is packed around the organs, the rest under the skin and over the muscles like you, hence I always appear to weight less than I actually do.
  19. Yes. very good posts above. I practical terms NO there is no way to lose too fast. Your body requires energy to live, when you are not eating or eating very little it pulls energy from fat and muscle. The heavier you are the more you must eat to maintain that weight, yes it actually REQUIRES energy to not only haul that fat around but just to feed the cells and create the blood supply to feed it, the skin to cover it, the muscle to carry it, etc. So the fatter you are the faster you will typically lose as the amount of difference between what you consume and the energy requirements of what you need to maintain is much larger, as you lose weight that gap narrows and the energy requirements to maintain the wight drops closer to what your consumption is - the gap narrows. So you will only lose the amount of difference between what you eat and what you NEED to eat to stay fat, at first you lose a lot, after some loss you lose less as your energy requirements drop.
  20. No, that's why it takes multiple "doses" to make a difference, I would say at least 6 a day to start with, more if you feel the need. The poor guy is gonna be weak in the knees

    nervous...at urgent care

So sorry to hear of this, wish you the best and a quick recovery before the holidays of possible!
  22. No problem, the amount is so small I doubt it would have any effect, to play it safe wait a few weeks before resuming relations then have at it.
  23. I kept all mine till I just about reached goal and then took an unbeleivably big pile of stuff to a donation place, it felt so good, I regretted all the money "wasted" but thought it was cool all the stuff I got rid of - and most of all all the closet space I now had.
  24. Wish you the best, it was just over 2 years ago I went to TJ and had mine done, best thing I have ever done for my healther EVAR
