  1. I had my surgery on June 15 and returned to work on June 29. It was too soon and I really needed another week especially since I had a throat infection. I was very fatigued the first 2 weeks back to work and still do not have my stamina totally back at 8 weeks post op. It is harder to get in all the fluids at work than it is at home.

I have a sedentary desk job.

  2. I bought a little device at the drugstore. One end cuts pills in half and the other end crushes them. It has come in handy since all they had in Mexico was 40mg nexium so I cut each one in half. I swallow a capsule every morning. I tried the calcium citrate but it made me feel sick. That was at 2 or 3 weeks. I am now 7 weeks so will try again. I take a sublingual B-12 and a chewable multi that tastes like pineapple.< /p>

  3. Your weight and BMI were within the normal range and you are now in the 50th percentile, average. There is no way a doctor should have cut out your stomach just because you begged him to do it. There is nothing wrong with your body size and as a psychotherapist I agree with the previous poster. Please get some help to address your body image and do not try to lose another 40 lbs.

  4. I am 6 weeks out and I have NO hunger. In fact I really don't want to eat or drink at all and struggle to get in Protein and fluids. I am so restricted it takes me 2 hours to eat a small amount of anything and sipping makes my stomach feel bloated.

  5. I would file a complaint with the local medical society. That is who disciplines doctors. The next thing I would do is hire an attorney and subpoena your surgery records. Everyone is playing CYA (cover your ass) and afraid of a lawsuit. Can you go see your PCP? If not your attorney will arrange to have you medically examined.

  6. I don't necessarily think her doctor was insensitive or worried about a kick back. I was married to a PCP and most of them work long hours and are genuinely interested in their patients' welfare. If they were really out just for money they wouldn't be a GP they would be a specialist.

His opinion is only based on his experience and information and he was probably more annoyed that as your PCP you did not discuss this major medical decision with him and get his feedback. It sounds like your doc is worried about your health and nutrition. The research I have read does find that VSG patients are at risk for Vitamin D, Vitamin A, folate, and B-12 deficiencies.

I gave my PCP information on the procedure when I went to talk to him about it. Even though he does not like WLS in general he has been supportive.

When you see him next time I would give him some studies (docs like science) to read and tell him you will work with him to make sure your nutritional profile looks good.

  7. I felt pretty much the same. I am able to eat a 6 oz yogurt in 60 minutes now. I can drink at least 40-45 oz of Fluid in a day and get about 50 - 60 g of Protein in at 4 1/2 weeks. I am still tired but not nearly as weak as I was 2 weeks ago. It seems to get better every day and then some days are better than others. I do better when I get enough fluid and protein and take my Vitamin. Try sugar free Popsicles to get ore fluids

  8. I'm in the middle of a bad sinus infection too and it has severely impaired my emotional state and ability to focus on what I'm doing in terms of postop healing, diet, and exercise. I've been like a bump on a log for the last week and a half.:

I was sick right after my surgery on 6/15 too and I felt miserable, depressed and just plain cranky. I vomited several times because of all the mucous. In fact I just started feeling human yesterday. Take it slow. Your body has had a double whammy. Major surgery and an upper respiratory infection. Even if you hadn't just had the sleeve you would feel ill, so give yourself some time to recover. Just focus on the fluids for now and stay hydrated. If you can tolerate the chewable Vitamins use them. They helped me. Last week I felt so ill and weak that I could not even do 1 minute on my ellipse machine. I though I was going to collapse. I just did 10 minutes. Not great but a big improvement. Take it slow.

  9. My PCP was supportive but cautious. I took in all the information on the procedure, Dr. Aceves and the hospital so he could check it out. Nina also offered to have other physicians that had the surgery answer any questions he has. He did check it out and said the hospital was a good one. He did not know about the sleeve and is not a fan of bypass but has been supportive and checking on me closely.

  10. Yes I have posted that I feel flu like. I am almost 4 weeks out. I also have been having severe back pain and last night I took some of the sublingual pain meds I brought back from Mexico. That not only helped the pain it also made me more relaxed and less irritable which has been a big problem for me the past 2 weeks. I was on cymbalta for pain pre-op and I started back on it last night. I do feel slightly better today. still very tired.

I am hoping the cymbalta will help me get back on track

  11. I need some encouragement. I read that people feel hungry, have energy, etc. I had my sleeve exactly 3 weeks ago and I feel like crap.

I have had a cough and tons of post nasal drip since the surgery and nothing is helping. This morning I vomited due to the excess mucous.

I have NO desire to eat or drink and force every sip and mouthful. I am so weak, tired and irritable. It is a huge effort just to dry my hair! If I do not feel any better next week my PCP is going to run blood work.

I did not expect to feel great but I really did not expect to feel this way. I am getting scared that I will never want to eat anything again.:scared0:

I started taking a multi ivtamin and B12. I got sick on the Calcium so I will wait awhile for that.

I am just getting concerned because others seem to feel hungry and have tons of energy and I just feel sick and tired and discouraged. I am beginning to regret the whole thing :)
