    Nausea

I'm 13 months out now.......but in the beginning I had lots of nausea. I was so scared of getting sick/vomiting. It eventually went away, but I believe that was my hunger feeling returning, it was just in the form of nausea, much different then what It use to. Be patient & don't be so hard on yourself......look @ the big picture. When I started this process I was 266.8 this morning I was 199.4. My son turned10 in Feb when I found out I was preggers I was 204 so this is least I've weighed in a decade!
  2. I have PCOS.....I believe the lapband has been and continues to work for me. March 16th was a year that I had surgery. I'm off metformin, and have lost 63.4 (this includes my pre-op diet) as of this morning. My A1-C is so MUCH better....I even wondered if I would still be considered to have PCOS. Of course the lapband isn't a cure all and you really have to be ready to face all the reasons you were eating before being banded b/c all the reasons are still right there after surgery and IT SUCKS!!!! But you have to face what ever issues you have to be healthy! My Dr was conservative w/ fills and is a big believer in slow and steady to get restriction. You have to eat small bites, chew chew & chew., no drinking w/ meals and say goodbye to soda. hope this helped kelli
  3. Wow......I can't believe that it is me finally me, that has made it to the 1 year!!!!! I want to share so much. I was so hoping to be at 199.0 by the time I made it to my year mark....but I weighed in the morning at 206.2 so in a year that makes my total weight loss 60.8 lbs. I'm so so happy. I went from a size 22 to wearing a 14 (with a belt). I can't believe that it is me! I want to be VERY clear that the band certainly isn't a "cure-all" and I can't begin to express what an emottional journal I have been on and continue to be on everyday now since being banded. I'm 32....so when people were learning to feel their emotions apparently I started eating mine. So now being a grown adult, mother, wife and working full time and feeling feelings as opposed to eating them is quite an adjustment...to say the least. I've also started seeing a therapist about 4 months after surgery, just to help me learn and process everything that was going on inside of me. Also, how to live w/ out numbing out and abusing food. It is also my opinion that you can't prepare for how you will react emotional after having surgery no matter how much you prepare so before hand. I would do it again in the morning! I was in a very dark hole with my weight, had dieted on....just like all you tried everything known to man to try and be successful in this area of of my life.....the band has been the tool that made it possible for me. I eat very small bites, chew chew and chew No pop, at all Drink Water NEVER at the same time as eating I do little exercise, really need to increase Since being banded...I've said goodbye to bread.....mabe a tinsy bite every now again, no eggs, can't really eat certain chips. So far meats, fruits, Veggies are all ago. I want to thank so many of you who answered my questions in the begninng and offered so much positive support throught this year. This board is full of so much wonderful support and info. If you are just starting out be patient.....it is so hard, but don't be so hard on yourself. Follow your Dr. orders and the weight will come off slow and steady!
  4. Thanks everyone! Good Luck to you all......raise Water bottles and Cheers to all you Today was my f/u....My A1C was great, chol was great, The only thing was my Iron was low and the Dr. told me I really needed to take my Vitamin EVERY DAY.....(which I don't do) So I'll make a new committment to that. So it was nice to hear that my body is healing itself on the inside too. I also got a tinsy fill of .2 so my grand total now is 7.8 cc. and I also tried on 2 pairs of 12's at Target Mossimo brand and I BOUGHT one of them b/c they fit fine atleast 10 years since I've wore anything in a 12...to be honest I can't remember a time that I did.
  5. Your welcome...good luck and best wishes to you as well!
  6. YES!!! I'm really slowing down now. But looking back over my weight tracking I def had a pattern on months I lost very little, I seemed to lose more the next month...kinda weird but that is how my loss has went. Try and not be discouraged...just keep on keeping on. My fills were: 2.5 cc 2 1.5 may 25 1.0 june 8 .5 june 29 total 7.5 in a 10 cc band. It took my a while to get in the "green zone" they do fill every 2 weeks so after surgery I was going frequently to get in the green.
  7. I too am in this category banded on 3-16-11. I also have PCOS, I was so hoping that losing weight would get my libido going.....even when I was heavier still nothing...Now I've almost lost 60 lbs and no change in the bedroom area. we've been married for 6 years and have to kiddos, I'm 32.

    Professional Help

hello, I hope I don't make thing worse for you, but I'm almost a year out and just made an appt to see my psychologist last week. I was seeing her a cple times a month started doing pretty good and hadn't seen her since Oct. Now I'm going back on the Feb 29th. After surgery about a month later I called my surgery place and told the girl I felt like I needed to talk to talk to some one. She recommended 2 therapist that specialize in Baratric Surgery pateints. For me right now my current issues are emotional ones. I'm fine being happy, carefree, having fun, etc....it is anger, conforntation, and fear that I'm having so much trouble processing. So not having the option to self medicate w/ food and being forced to "feel" the feelings it is SO HARD! I emailed my therapist and she said when I come in we will work on where my emotional health has not caught up to my physical health and bridge the gap and continue to work on coping skills that don't involve food. Hope I've helped some......In the beginning I was aggreviated that I was losing slow...now almost a year in, and 60 lbs later. I could not be more greatful that lapband is a slow, but steady process. If I had lost weight super quick I would be nuts! Good Luck
  9. In the beginning I had lots of nausea too.....I had the Dr to call me in some zofran..it helped lots. I also noticed that after a while that Nausea was my new hunger feeling. You are relearning so much right now.....I'm now 11 months in. So thankful I had the lapband surgery!

    X rated question

I'm 3 1/2 months post op and my port still bothers me sometimes...during "relations"
  15. I had the exact same surgery as you...it was pretty rough. I think if I had only lapband recovery would have been much easier. I took my pain medicine around the clock for the first 3-4 days, and walked a lot as soon as I got home just up and down the hall way and then made my way outside as I was able. Take it easy and accept help from others each day will get a little easier! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
  16. Thanks so much for this info....makes so much sense! But, I too had never had it explained in those terms. Hope you are on the mend soon from your band!
  17. That "corn" would be such a problem food....I had it for the 2nd and last time yesterday. My 1st horrible stuck issue was w/ chicken and some cut corn off the cob about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I cooked and one of our veggies was corn...OMG worst experience EVER, I threw up awful . I orginally thought I hadn't chewed the chicken well enough, but now since this has happened again...I think it is the corn???? Anyone else had this problem, also what are some of your problem foods? TIA!

    Who Knew, Corn?

Thank you all, I think the next time, I'll try cream style!
  19. Everyone's docs are so different.....mine says to bring a "mushy" food w/ you so I will bring a yogurt, luna bar, or a bananna. I'm 1hour and 1/2 away from the doc so she said she def wants to make sure I'm not in the red zone before I leave town. The rules are no eating 2 hours before and fill, no meats on the day of fill, mushies rest of day next day regular diet. hth,
  20. It wasn't until my 3rd fill I felt the band was helping @ all....2 wks later when I got my fourth fill I FINALLY have restriction and I have to eat small portions & small bites....It is really hard, but when you the right amount you will be able to tell! Promise my total is 7.0 in a 10 cc band
  21. kelli01

    First fill of 2mls

Just try & be patient....(knowing this is really hard & sucks). I Had no restriction until my third fill and then aftter my fourth....I really feel like I'm in a good place. 1st 2.5 2nd 2.0 3rd 1.5 4th 1.0 my band holds 10....I really thought this was all such a joke and scam....But it really is true, when you get restriction you will know it. Now I have to eat very small bites, Chew Chew Chew and it I take to big a bite I know immediately. The beginning is so hard, b/c you are following the rules, drinking Water and exercising and still not loosing. Just hang in there & be patient.

    Nausea

I too have nausea, I was banded on 3/16/11.....It seems to come around the time I ahould be having my next meal. After I eat it goes away. After being banded, My stomach doesn't growl or have intense hunger pains. I wondered if the nausea feeling was my new "hunger" feeling. I too am not sure what this is all about. I talked to the Dr and she wasn't sure either. I also just had my 4th fill...and still have the nausea feeling.
  23. My office has me stand up against the wall, 1 stick for numbing, 1stick for fill needle, drink of water, if the water goes down fine she will remove the needle. Sometimes I'm a little tender but nothing like you have described. Def hope your next one goes better!

    Second Fill

I cldn't tell any change until my 3rd fill and just went in today for my 4th fill ( have to wait 2 weeks in between) I'm now @ 7 hopefully I'm in the zone should be able to tell in a couple of days!
  25. Self-Sabotage, I'm the queen so with that being said.....how did you find and stick to new coping skills that didn't involve food? I've been an addict so long....How have you been successful long term w/ the band..I'm almost 3 months out...I know I'm not doing my best. Anyone else in the sabotage boat?
