    fatigue and low energy

yeah, i'm just 2 weeks post op so i think it's going to take some toying around with things to see where the best spot is for me. thanks for your input.

i've stopped losing though at 600-700 so i thought i might need to increase to get out of starvation mode? maybe i should go see the nutritionist again.

    Confession

are you tracking your food? (2 weeks post op i wouldn't think you should be eating luna bars. they have a 1/3 of your daily carbs). i have a big problem with food addiction and binging and the ONLY thing that has kept me sane and on track is tracking my food on fitday.com. tracking is the only way you can really see what you're eating and gain control. if you are able to maybe go to therapy too to explore why you use food to feel better, that's definitely helpful and worth your time. but most of all, don't beat yourself up. just recommit and try to track your food. really helped me not only be honest with myself but to be able to plan my food and nutrition.

    fatigue and low energy

cool, thanks all. yeah, i ate some applesauce today. my carbs and Protein have been around 60 each per day, which is what they're supposed to be, but i could only get up to like 700 calories, which might be why i'm still weak (not losing either because cals too low). so i tried to up my food intake today a bit and got up to 1000 calories but my carbs and protein were at 100 each!! i don't know how you're supposed to get to 1200 calories with only 60 grams each of carbs and protein. thanks for your input appreciate it!
  5. that's bizarre. my psych eval was one visit. about an hour and a half. sounds like they're trying to milk it for insurance??
  6. 2 weeks post op: good restriction may not need a fill for a while. can only seem to get in 650 cal a day. haven't lost any weight in a week since i started on food. i add chicken and fish tomorrow. bad news: weak and fatigued and no weight loss. good news: no nausea or vomiting and restriction with no fill. not sure if all this was worth the $16k i paid. will have to wait much longer to see.

  7. good luck tomorrow! hope everything goes great.

  8. i think what i'm confused about in this couple weeks of post op non-weight loss (i lost on liquid diet but not since i started food) is that i've only built up to about 650 calories a day and i have good restriction now with no fill. if anything, i am going to have to build up to eating more calories, not less with a fill. maybe i'm not losing because i'm eating food but not eating enough calories yet? i will be adding chicken and fish next week so maybe that will help.

    Coffee

ok, i've been going crazy this morning and this reminder put me over the edge and i'm making a cup right now. i'm 2 weeks post op and drink a ton of water every day, so it should be fine. can't wait til it's ready!

    Coffee

most dr's say to avoid it so i asked my dr and did some research as to the WHY we need to avoid caffeine and it makes sense for the early stages right after surgery. caffeine is a diuretic and when you are trying to get in 64 oz of Water a day, that's the last thing you need. also, caffeine can increase appetite and irritate your stomach, which at first you need to be gentle with. i've heard a lot of people say they drink it with no problems, but i'm trying to hold off for a couple of weeks at least. it's driving me crazy though! i have had some black tea, but that's a pretty poor substitute for the real thing! i miss you, coffee
  11. i have really good restriction with no fill. i wonder if it will stick or eventually decrease.

    1 day post op question

totally normal! sugar free popsicles can really help.
  13. well, we explored the reasons why i overeat when i'm stressed or depressed but beyond that it didn't really help much. i have bought 3 books on amazon about emotional overeating (they had good reviews) but one said that i should eat whatever i want and then i would eventually get tired of it. haha! yeah, right. the other one told me i needed to go for a walk and distract myself. thanks. since being banded last week though, i am definitely aware of the differences between head hunger and real hunger. so that helps. my hope is that it will just get easier with time.
  14. i just bought regular popsicle brand in sugar free. they come in a box of 12 or 24 and are in orange, cherry and grape (mixed). http://www.eons.com/...95792_610w.jpeg
  15. they told me to avoid v8 unless i was really jonsing for some veggies. it's very pulpy and they said to just drink Clear Liquids or milk. here's what mine were, in addition to Protein Shakes and water: - chicken, beef or vegge broth. buy a carton instead of cans, tastes better. you can also put a splash of milk in it to make it creamier. - sugar free Jello - watered down clear fruit juice (has a lot of carbs so just take a couple of sips of watered down juice, don't drink a lot of it). i used watered down WHITE grape juice. - sugar free popsicles (definitely have these at home for right after the surgery too, will help with the scratchy throat). - non fat milk (i bought non and 1% and mixed because i couldn't tolerate nonfat alone). - crystal light
  16. hi everyone i was on a liquid diet for 1 week post op and just started on soft mushy foods (didn't have to do a pre op liquid, only for 1 day before surgery). i lost 10lbs on the liquid diet and had a feeling it would stall when i started on food and that's what happened. i'm following my diet and only eating like 600 cal a day but feel like i'm pigging out, ha. maybe i'm in starvation mode until i get up to a normal 1100 cal or so normal diet. anyway, just wondering if this happens to everyone, weight loss stops until you get your first fill maybe? would love to hear what people's experiences were with their first few week's weight loss. i know that you're not supposed to count on any and that the time is to heal, but i would expect some since i am eating so much less than before, right?
  17. i wish i could find a book or something about how to deal psychologically with head hunger. i bought one on ebay and it was terrible. if anyone knows of anything, please post. talked to my therapist about it and she didn't have any ideas either how to deal psychologically with head hunger (it is psychological, i believe. not chemical).
  18. i had the same chest pain and it really scared me. called my dr and he said it's totally normal. it's actually band pain from the surgery and mine went away after about 3 days. totally normal, don't worry about it. the gas pain will subside too. just try to relax and take care yourself. the first 2 or 3 days are the worst and then you'll feel much better

    Early weeks weight loss

doh! newbie me found the answer in other threads. apparently, totally normal to stop losing or gain when going from liquid diet to food.
