  1. Yikes! A bartender! I get it, I was a pastry chef for several years, and even though I LOVED it, i had to get away from it. It has been about 5 years now since I have worked in that industry, and some days I miss it (what's not to miss - all the free pastries you can eat! But most days I am so thankful that I am not around all the sweets anymore!

    I did it!!!!

congratulations! Take care of yourself! :grouphug:
  3. I am so glad I found this thread! My surgery is the 24th -- and I feel like I have been riding a roller coaster these last few days! My preop diet started 4 days ago - high protein liquid diet (no food!) and I can't help but thinking "what the heck am I doing to myself?" I know in my heart of hearts that I need this but, man, I am nervous! I am 5'1" and 227 lbs. ..I can't wait for that number to go down! :cheer2: Kasie
  4. I get it - my surgery date is in 7 days, and I am freaking out! 2 months ago I would have said that same thing about having no doubts and not missing anything however, 3 days into my high Protein liquid diet and I do miss things already. I think when I am six weeks out I will probably have similar feelings, but, I just have to keep telling myself in 6 months my life is going to be so much different.
  5. My approval came way before I thought it would - my date is June 29th I have a week long camping trip planned - leaving July 24-Aug 1...we are not planning on really hiking or anything - just short walks, swimming in a pool, do you think this is too much too soon? From what I have read on here people seem to be feeling pretty good 4 weeks out - would you have done this? It will just be me and the kids the first 5 days (age 10 &7) and then the hubby is coming down -
  6. Thanks for all the responses - I am feeling pretty darn excited about getting my sleeve early!!
  7. Got my call today!! I think I said holy crap to the lady on the phone 3 or 4 times...I was thinking that BCBSMN wasn't going to cover until the end of summer - but I guess they started covering it a few weeks ago!!! Things are moving quick now, and I am trying not to freak out...woohoo!!!
  8. I am in a bad place today I have done all my requirements, 6 months of the required diet, just to find out today that BCBS of MN still isn't covering the sleeve..unless you have serious other issues (which I don't, I am only morbidly obese). So now I am stuck, I was hoping that while doing the 6 month diet, that BCBS would switch their policy, but no such luck. I am torn between switching back to the RNY, (even though I really want the sleeve) because insurance will pay for it, and the other option I have is Self-Pay, which is $20,000 I am so frustrated! Crying all day! The Husband says put it in the budget, so yes in about 2 years, we could pay for it, and I am grateful that he says that, but I want it now, I have already been jumping hoopes for a year! I just feel beat down.
  9. You guys are so great! I don't know what people do that haven't found this forum yet? I am going to try to appeal, and maybe even appeal again. I am also going to look into the BCBS IL -- great ideas! Thanks so much!

hey thanks for responding..have you sent your paperwork in yet? I have one more visit to finish my 6 mo. diet - and then i will send everything in. Where are you having your surgery done? I am going through park nicollet and Methodist hospital- so far everything with them has been great, my only concern is that insurance won't approve me!
