  1. My Surgery is tomorrow, March 22. I'm nervous but with the help of some supportive friends and family I'm OK. I'm a nurse, So in saying that i believe we make the worst patients. I'm used to caring for others. So it's difficult to allow someone to care for me. I'm sure this is how a got in this situation anyway....In caring for everyone else I forgot to take care of myself. So this is the start of a new journey i finally decided to begin...

The only thing that i'm afraid of is that i may or may not be having the sleeve done do to some complications..My dr. asked if during the surgery he finds that i can not have the sleeve he said i have the choice to choosing another type of weight loss surgery..Hope it does not have to come to that...I have faith that everything will work out!!

  2. Thanks for the replies!! That's what i said, "Why can't it be fixed". My Dr said that it could be repaired but some new studies indicated that if my hernia is to large that he's afraid that it will cause me problems down the road. He also said that sometimes the scope during the endoscopy could be alot different than when he does the surgery, But he want to have a alternative plan if he in the OR and decides its too risky. I figure the alternatives are the Lap or bypass. Not what i wanted:(

  3. Well, my surgery that was scheduled for march 22 my have a different coarse. I have a hiatal hernia and esophagitis....Talk to my Surgeon and he said we may have to talk about alternatives to having the sleeve done. I Cried thinking that what i work toward will not be. My appointment with my doctor is tomorrow and i have so much anxiety about it. What if he says that i'm not a canidate for anything. I guess i just wanted to get this off my chest.

  4. My Dr. found and fixed my hernia while he did my sleeve. So no problem hernia-wise. The esophagitis---the sleeve can make that worse, so I hope the meds clear it up for you and a PPI regimen after surgery keeps it at bay. Talk to your Dr.

Thanks for your the response. I'm sure he did not get the report as of yet. I will call him tomorrow to find out the plan. Thanks

  5. i just had my endoscopy done today and the doctor found that i had a moderate hiatus hernia.. who knew..i had no symptoms. Also i have a mildly severe esophagitis..i started medication for this.. I'm afraid that i may not be able to have my surgery scheduled for 3/22...Is there anyone out there that have a similar situation as me???

  6. Wow..I'm 17 days until my surgery date and i have so many questions and emotions going throught my head. Hopefully the commuity will be patient with me being i'm new at this computer thing.(smiling still). I really have not met anyone that has had the sleeve, so this is what brought me to this web site.. I guess i'm looking for support from a peer that is going through or has gone through what i'm about to encounter.
