Has anyone actually failed at this?
this is my biggest fear that it will not work for me. my dr. says it will and not to worry! however, i have lost and regained 100lbs 3 times. that frightenes me! i CAN lose weight, i just CAN NOT keep it off. i have not had surgery yet and plan to use my sleeve as a tool, just like tiff says. it has to be lifelong and you have to work at it. i pray everyday that the sleeve will work for me and i pray the same for you too! good luck! kelly

How long was the process through Kaiser?
I have kaiser northern california which is ALOT differnet than s. california. we do not have to do the 12 weeks of options classes which cuts out a lot of time. i think it all depends on how fast you can work it. i started in oct. 2010 and was required by my surgeon to lose 25lbs pre-op before he would do it. i had to be within 5 lbs of that goal before i could move on to meet with the psych dr. i then had to wait to have labs done and then meet with dr. again. he then ordered upper endoscopy and it is just all drawn out! you have to wait weeks to get appts and it just takes a long time! i still do the pre-op diet and have lost over 50lbs!! yay!! i live in sacramento and have to drive to richmond to see the dr. it sucks! i know it will all be worth it when i am finally sleeved, but, the waiting sucks! good luck to you. kelly

Unfourtunatly, this is a bit controversial..but thoughts on consuming Marijuana PsOp?
i agree with tiffany. ask your dr. because all dr.'s make you stop smoking prior to surgery and insist that you do not smoke agian! my dr. made me promise that i would never smoke again and would not do RYN surgery on me because i had been a smoker!! he was that strict! he said that if i did ever smoke again, he would stop being my dr.!! to each their own, but i would ask! just my opinion! kelly

Hungry
see sleevesearch, that is what i am afraid of!!! i do not want to go through all of this just to have surgery and still feel this way!! i mean, i know i will NEVER be able to eat as much as i once did after surgery, but if i can eat all day long, then wont the amount still be the same?? i am so afraid that it is just not going to work for me. i pray that it will, but i just hate not knowing. there are so many that say that their actual hunger issues go away, but some say that they are still there. i just don't know!!! kelly

Hungry
thanks foxbins, i hope that this will be my result. i hear or should say read that some people still have the hungry issue. if i weren't hungry all of the time, i would be fine. i just want it to STOP!! it is so irritating! Kelly

Hungry
I have not had surgery yet and am so very afraid that this surgery is not going to work for me! I am ALWAYS hungry. Not head hunger, but really hungry. I eat and like 1 1/2 to 2 hours later my stomach is growling and I get so hungry that it is really hard for me not to eat. My Dr. told me that it was because of what I was eating. We changed my diet and still, I am STARVING!! I have been doing the pre-op diet since Oct. and have lost 50lbs. So, I do stick to it, but gosh, I am so tired of being hungry! I have real problems believing that this surgery will work for me. My Dr. says that I will be super successful because I have shown great restriction already. I guess I am just afraid of failure...again! Do those of you that have had surgery lose your hunger issues? If that would just go away, I would be fine. I am not one that eats just to eat, I eat because I am seriously hungry. Thanks for any advice, Kelly

Question
Most places are sensitive to vacations and surgeries that are pre planned prior to being hired. I would be honest and tell them that you are having surgery on such and such and that you intend on needing a week off and upon returing will not be able to lift for another few weeks. Honesty is best. Now, the law states that you DO NOT have to tell them what the surgery is for, unless you want to. Just tell them it is personal and that you don't want to discuss it. But, be honest!

Drinking
I have not had surgery yet. However, I know that this is going to be a HUGE issue for me. I have always been a BIG drinker with my meals. It is nothing for me to drink 2 glasses of tea with every meal. I have been practicing for the past 2 months and I am doing pretty good. I drink up till I eat. Then, not for 30-60 minutes after. It is not so hard at Breakfast cuz I have fruit and it is juicy. I make sure to save one bite to wash it all down!! Then my drive to work takes me over 30 minutes so I am good! lunch is a little harder, but I do it. dinner is the hardest but, after I eat, I usually go for a walk. Practice, Practice, Practice! Changed Goal
I think you look awesome! I know that we all get fixated on what the scale says tho. If it isn't exactly 5lbs less then we think we are not good enough or we are just not happy about it. Look at how far you have come and be happy with that! Continue with what you are doing and it will move. As long as you are staying healthy and living by the "sleeve rules", you will be successful. They say the less you have to lose the harder is to lose! Seriously tho, what is a few more lbs compared to where you have come from? It is really just a number. You really look very healthy and happy! Good job! Oh and you baby is too cute too! Kelly

Good news
one stone is equal to 14lbs. so 2 and a half would be 35lbs. Sorry to be a nerd! I was a math major in college and now I am an accountant!! LOL good job!! kelly

1200 Calorie Diet- OMG! TORTURE!
I have been doing the pre-op 1200 cal diet since I signed up to be sleeved back in October. The first few weeks were the worst! I thought i would starve to death! It is low fat, low carb, high protein and I was beside myself. So many times I wanted to go get a cheesburger or some pizza. Stick with it cuz it does get easier. After about day 12, I was getting into a grove and not so many cravings were upon me. I still get hungry for things, but not NEARLY like i use to. AND, i have lost 50lbs. PRE OP!! that is pretty amazing! Keep with it. It will all be worth it! Best of luck! Kelly

First “mini” goal reached!!!!
AHHH! to weigh less than the d/l! that would be an achievement. I don't think I ever have! LOL Good for you! Kelly

Rock Bottom
My surgeon would do the exact same thing! You can not even be 1lb over the goal weight that he sets for you or he will send you home and not do the surgery! A lot of people don't like him and think he is to blunt and "as a matter of fact", but he really is just looking out for my best interest. I want someone who is going to treat me like that and not just be like "I will operate on anyone"!! That means that I will be very well taken care of and be in great hands. If I am not ready, then don't do it. I would not want to be very sick or worse, die! That is all he was trying to keep from happening and I am glad that you understand that. I am glad that my dr. is the same way. Maybe we have the same surgeon! LOL Kelly

7 days ago.....
Good for you for being such a supportive friend to your co-worker. I too, work with a lady that is so rude and just a biotch like that! I would have reported her to HR or your boss for the comment she made about the other girl. How awful! Good luck to you. Kelly
