    dry mouth

Completely normal as you might be in ketosis. Please just make sure you are getting enough liquids and are not dehydrated. Post op it is easy to become dehydrated and end up back in the hospital.
  2. First - YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE, nor did your sleeve fail you. Seems you know what you did to gain back this weight and what triggers caused this. Life will always have up and downs. Once you conquer this may I suggest some counseling to help you deal with any future triggers? No more yoyo dieting. Chose wisely and you will be back - amazing yourself. I repeat - you are not a failure. Getting back on track will see that scale going back in the right direction. Hugs to you for being so courageous to post.

    i might die

You are not going to die, you just are having trouble adjusting. The first couple of weeks are no fun and require a whole new mindset. My first month was not pleasant. My words might seem empty, but I really have been where you are now. So here are some helpful tips and a reality check. you MUST get in enough liquids to stay hydrated. Use a shot glass if needed and sip slowly every 15 minutes. Set a timer. If you don't you will be back in the hospital in no time. Can I suggest Isopure 40gm Protein (apple melon was tolerable) to get in some protein? Also, drink Power Aide Zero diluted during the day to get in the electrolytes necessary to survive. Think of food differently. You are now eating / drinking to survive, not for pure pleasure. You didn't gain this weight in a week, nor are you going to lose weight in a week...so commit to the long haul. Your body is pissed off. You probably used to consume 2000 calories a day & now you are drinking/eating under 750. Of course you are tired. Understand you are in a metamorphosis and change is not always easy. Accept that and move forward. Things will gradually get better so hang in there. Hugs. I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

    Dr Cirangle CA Self Pay

I self paid for a Southern CA surgeon with equal (or higher) qualifications of Dr Cirangle...and that is saying a lot since Cirangle has an excellent reputation. Excellent. Both surgeons may not have the best bed side manner but their safety record is the highest which was more important to me than price. My safety was #1 concern. Second was aftercare which is nada if out of country. A WLS who sees you after out of country surgery takes on the liability of a surgery they did not perform. This is why it is difficult to get a local WLS surgeon to do aftercare. A GM or internist will see you but they don't "know" VSG, so is this really aftercare? Do they know what signs of any issues or special needs of during initial weight loss? Hence this is why out of country surgery was never an option for me. Also, check with your insurance if you are considering of country surgery. Many insurances will NOT cover any complications requiring ER visits or hospital stays. See liability. Paid 18K back in 2010. Worth every single penny. No overnight hospital stay, no pain, no staples, no morphine, no post op leak test. These are not necessary. Not all VSG surgery procedures are the same. BEST decision of my life. I hear you can negotiate aftercare fees. Weekly support group for me is free but the now annual visits are fee based. My regular insurance picks up these costs now (yet would not pay for surgey) and blood tests. Good luck in whom ever you choose.
  5. I feel for you and glad you are reaching out. If you had your surgery in the states have you seen your surgeon. One of my fellow SoCal VSG members only lost 30 lbs total and went in to check her metabolism & thryroid. Bottom line, problem with both. I want to encourage you to find answers and share with us what you are able to determine. Hugs.
  6. Hello; Yes it is possbile. If you are willing to make life changes. The sleeve allows you to lose the weight but maintaining is a matter of not slipping into old habits. While I am at surgeons goal, I am about 10 lbs over my personal goal. Why? Because I graze and eat around my sleeves restrictions. To newbies - you alone are the master of your own long term success. I love my sleeve and have no regrets...even at 2 years 10 months out.
  7. A group of SoCal VSG'ers are meeting at a mall in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday 7/13 10AM Please send a message to Sleeve 4 me or iegal for specifics. Hope to see you there!
  8. So as not to bore you, my story is almost exactly the same as NTVTXN...quick to goal, same weight, blah blah. I will be three years out in September. I am at surgeons goal, but am over my own personal goal, holding there for about a year. I was 15 pounds lighter at one point, but was way too skinny and when I looked at pictures of myself I looked unhealthy. Then menopause hit about a year ago. BAM, 10 pounds added within two months. Yes I would like to lose 5 pounds and can do this within a month if I eat correctly as my sleeve allows. But, sadly I eat like I used to which is bad, really bad. I eat crud and slider food. Am I hungry? Not physically hungry but I am mentally hungry. Mind games. Know what I need to do. Conclusion, you map your own success. Follow the diet plan and you too can be successful. Eat crud often and you will gain back weight. Hugs to all my fellow vets...and of course any newbies reading my warning.
  9. Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never harm me. What a lie. I am so sorry for your pain. People used to ask if I was pregant & yeah it hurt, a lot. I want to send a hug to you. Words hurt people, use them wisely.
  10. Coops, I think I tell your story more often than mine. You are amazing!

    Feeling really scared

Can I suggest each of you write a list? Write a list of 10 reasons why you are getting this surgery. It is okay to be vain, although being a healthier person should be on the list An experienced sleever gave me this suggestion almost 3 years ago & I still have list. All still apply. I read this list when I need encouragement or need to refocus, yes even still. Hope this helps you out too. Hugs! I love my sleeve and have no regrets.

    Why are you still waiting

Nice! Suzannesh has a great story with YEARS of success to stand on. Yes, a sleeve can be a life altering choice. Since VSG aka sleeve is non reversable, make sure you understand the level commitment requirement. I love my sleeve and have no regrets!

    Anyone near Cerritos area?

Not everyone subscribes to the posts, you might have to do a search. Hope you your excercise plan is going well.

    Offended? Dating and weight.

What a dumb dude! Sending you a video with comments like that could be hurtful. Honey, confident you were beautiful at your highest weight and are even more lovely now. So what? Don't let some drunk guy disappoint you.
  16. Congratulations on your upcoming date! Keep us posted on your progress.

    New to this forum

Welcome wolfcubby. Congratulations on being sleeved. A lot of great people here who will gladly lend a supporting word when needed. Looking forward to reading about your future success.
  18. Please respect the rules of this board and stop your constant attacks when I respectfully disagree with you. Each member can look up your posts and validate my statements. Almost 100% of your START posts are about your surgeon. Just stop with the advertising and diminishing the value to VST. Did I imply I was threatened by your posts? Hmm, no. This website is for support. Surgeons pay Alex to advertise with all the little pop ups and a surgeon using you for free advertising is saddens me, takes away from the glory of our fellow sleevers experiences. Stop the promotion, marketing, insipid postings...please. Your story is good on it's own merit, without all the advertising hype. Best wishes Suzannesh.

Wish I had a better attitude and resolve like gmanbat. Pinterest kills me. I have more recipes pinned than I could ever make. Great post gmanbat.

    Soooo much regret

I appreciate your honest post. Thank you. VSG is not an easy road. Your body is fighting mad, no sugar, no overload of carbs, no caffine, weakness, recovery and more. Of course some have second thoughts. Can I encourage you to hang in there? It might take a few months, but you will wake up one day and not regret this. Seriously.
  21. To all who read this post, please understand this is not a personal attack. I just wish her multi posts weren't so much about advertising and promotion of her surgeon. Doing a search of her posts will reveal intent, marketing...at least in my opinion. Many on this site use her surgeon and seem pleased with results. I am discouraged since I feel this type of consistent posting(s) is abuse of this website. VST should be more about helping each other rather than advertisement. Don't you agree? VSG WLS is a great tool for so many of us. Best wishes in which ever surgeon you choose!

    $27,385.95

Yep, I am a self payer. $18K iin US Worth each and every penny, seriously. I had BCBS PPO insurance and they did not cover VSG surgery back in Sept 2010. BCBS PPO considered VSG experimental surgery at that point. Would I pony up the $$$ again. YES. The kicker to this story is BCBS starting covering VSG surgery...wait for this, Oct 1, 2010. Lucky me. Yes, I fought it & lost appeal twice. But I save a lot of food bill. Hugs.

    Traveling

Sure, I traveled for work a week out from surgery. Flight was across country and as previously mentioned no I couln't lift my own bag. Oh and I asked for a wheel chair since I was still weak. Strong in front of my customer but once I hit the airport I asked for help. No shame in it. Good luck!
