Long term prognosis
Well, and also isn't it based on a high fat diet anyway? How many of us are actually eating a high fat diet? I know I'm not. And doing 5:2, I REALLY got my act under control! I decided to really make the changes necessary to get back to my goal weight and change my lifestyle. With that in mind, I 1. Started 5:2 2. Started logging EVERYTHING on MFP 3. Cut out all junk and most "prepared" foods with the exception of the occasional treat maybe once a week (ie., birthday cake/dessert) 4. Bought a Fitbit 5. Stick to a 1200 calorie day plan most ALL non-fast days. My diet is not high fat in any stretch of the imagination. Now, if people are taking the 5:2 or AF as a way to fast one day and as Laura said, eat as they please not regarding fat, calorie content, sugar content or making healthy choices, I don't think it would make much difference overall whether they were fasting or not. Aren't most people doing 5:2 or AF, eating within range and more healthy overall? I need to really look at what people are doing on their "off days."

How was your 5:2 day today?
This is interesting (from the FastDiet.com website) I guess I really do need to take those Vit D prescription my Dr. gave me cause my D was low!!!! There is a weight-loss pill worth buying. Most miracle “fat-burning supplements” are about as effective as an hour of Prancercizing. But if you want to take a pill to help promote fat loss, your best bet is a Vitamin that you associate with the sun. Researchers from Canada found that people with higher levels of Vitamin D also have lower levels of body fat. The connection isn’t a coincidence. Vitamin D helps you feel fuller because, according to Australian researchers, it releases more leptin, a hormone essential to weight loss. It also helps you store less fat by decreasing parathyroid hormone, which makes you hold on to your love handles. Best of all, vitamin D literally burns more fat by reducing production of the stress hormone cortisol. The fad-free truth: Buying supplements to help you lose weight is not the best use of your hard-earned money. Your foundation is a healthy diet and exercise. But some supplements can help fill nutritional gaps that will help your body function more efficiently. Supplementing with 2,000 to 3,000 IU of Vitamin D3 is a smart investment for your overall health and fat-loss goals.

Did well on my fast yesterday and ended right at 500. Still feeling sicky. Went up work but ended up coming home at noon. NyQuil is my best friend right now. Daisy, I understand the set point thing. I'm hung at 153-154. Up and down!!! I want 150!!! Well, actually I want 149!- Where are the 50s ???
Hope all went well! Welcome!- Your start date and start weight for the 5:2 method
Oh, who cares what their scale says? You've been weighing all along on YOURS!!!!!- Reaching 100% excess weight loss?

I've found that what happens with me is I lose to a new low, bounce up a couple lbs, and them stabilize at that low for a week or so. Then that cycle starts again. Working on staying at low of 153 now. By the end of this week I should be stable unless I get too carried away on feast days. Start 177 Low. 153 trying to "hold" this weight for a while. Hoped to get to 150 go by Labor Day but don't think that will be happening unless I somehow "chunk lose". LOL- Your start date and start weight for the 5:2 method

My primary care seems to think so. Quite frankly, my surgeon never even asks me such things.- How was your 5:2 day today?
Btw, FYE, your before and after pic I saw is stunning! Your waist is very defined! I'm jealous! Ha! I have never had much waistline. Sorta up and down. The only real thing I have going in my favor is I have no thighs/hips or butt either. Most of my weight is carried upper body. That's why very happy that 5/2 seems to be helping "define" my upper body and face/neck more. Or maybe it's just that I am near goal. Who knows? Either way. It is helping. LOL- heartburn after two years?

And BTW, my feast days have been fraught. ( LOVe That word! Lol) within wise choices this weekend. I had to travel to another part of the state Fri night and spend that night and most of the next day preparing to song and play at a funeral. Aggh. Was glad to be there to help comfort and make thing a easier for the family but much tension and stress involved. Whereas, my CALORIES weren't much over my limit, if at all, it was so removed from my norm that it kinda threw me into this "feeding frenzy". I even woke up Sunday morning THINKING about food which really hasn't been happening. Ugh! Ate too many items that involve carbs this wknd so it's back to MY norm tomorrow and limited editions today! .- Does anything know about death in Mexico.

Perspective. I think we might all need to take a deep breath today and just love ourselves. Do I love ALL of me? No. Do I know I've got to change SOME of me? Yes. But, life is short. Here is a poem my Pastor used yesterday. I looked it up today when i started reading this thread this morning. It was spring but it was summer I wanted; the warm days and the great outdoors.... It was summer but it was fall I wanted; the colorful leaves and the cool dry air. It was fall but it was winter I wanted; the beautiful snow and the joy of the holiday season. It was now winter but it was spring I wanted; the warmth and the blossoming of nature. I was a child but it was adulthood I wanted; the freedom and the respect. I was twenty but it was thirty I wanted; to be mature and sophisticated. I was middle-aged but it was twenty I wanted; the youth and the free spirit. I was retired but it was middle-aged I wanted; the presence of mind without limitations. My life was over but I never got what I wanted. || poem by a 14 yr old. - How was your 5:2 day today?
