  1. I will be honest here! At a year out, I am more hungry now than I was in the previous months. IF I handle my sleeve totally correctly - not drink before, during or after meals - eat Protein first, etc - I still cannot eat very much at all. BUT, I have found that about 1 1/2 to 2 hours later, I want to eat again. Something, anything. And because of that I have started to pick up some bad habits again. Snacks! I am at goal - lost 101 lbs and haven't regained (other than 2-3 up and down pounds) weighing around 150-153. Anybody else experienced this? Went through a bout with very low potassium and low blood sugar and still, at times, get that "shaky" feeling. I think some of this makes me "need" something quickly at times. I TRULY do not want to regain or put myself in a position to recreate old habits. Anybody else battled this?
  2. It's hard to take in , isn't it? I look back sometimes and think, "Wow! I can't believe I did this"". Congrats to you
  3. I am 57. Had VSG last June. No complications 101 lbs down. Again, wish I had been able to do this years ago! I say "Go for it!"
  4. Me either! I ha e exactly the same prob Em. Did u have anything done?
  5. Welcome to the 100+ club! Glad to be a member myself! 101 so far. Congratulations!
  6. Aretha does NOT have cancer. That was a misreporting done by somebody in the press.
  7. Okay, Luanne - here you go - Can cross my legs and love it! Can walk two or miles a day without having a heart attack! Can fit into size 8 clothes and love it! Can look myself in the mirror now (can't say I love it 'cause I STILL see the wrinkles! lol) without flinching! Can do anything I please without stopping to catch my breath every few seconds! Need I go on?? (smile) Also, I am almost 10 months out and can eat a small amount of most anything. Still can't do a lot of very dense Protein like steak or chicken breast unless very, very tender and easily digested. I am trying now to go back to low carb as much as possible because I went through a month or so of beginning to eat "junk" in small amounts and don't want to re-train my thought processes back to bad eating habits. Reached goal of 150 in late February with weight loss of 101 total now. Will probably lose another 10 pounds or so if I can manage it. Enough said? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my sleeve.
  8. That is very interesting, Susanne. Very easy t understand. I have reached goal but noticed I have picked up lots of carbs and edged up a couple of pounds so this is very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Good Luck everyone!

Okay,I found my topic! Want to snack anytime I am sitting in my house relaxing. For a while I was hung up on reduced fat Cheezits Now it's graduated to whatever I find. So I have to go back to things like Tiff was talking about - less carbs more protein. Have moved up a couple of lbs and that's as far as it goes. Sure don't want to "undo" anything have learned and certainly want to make sure that I am not setting a pattern for myself for the future
  10. Well, I am 57, at goal, lost 101 lbs, in 8 mos. And HAVE wrinkles! Face and neck. Really really noticeable to me. Others say not so much but there are groves and lines now due to WL. But, hey, I am a size 8 now. Can't have everything! Lol
  11. NO regrets! None none none! Sleeved 6/2/10 and reached goal of 150 a month ago. From 250 lbs. I do realize that I want to snack more now and will have to continue to watch that. Otherwise, all good!
  12. You look beautiful! Congrats! And I know what you mean - now that I am at goal, I am constantly "analyzing" "What's next?" And now I WORRY about regain! Ha! BUT I don't constantly think about food, I'm like you - active when I WANT to be (smile), and so blessed! Keep it up! 34lbs goes by fast!
  13. Well just checked it out and she does NOT have cancer!
  14. I understood the same - pancreatic cancer. Hmm
  15. Congrats! 62lbs in 3 months! Amazing. Welcome to "onederland!"
  16. From what I've read the new "in" Vitamin is D. Most blood tests until recently didn't screen for it or it wasn't considered highly important. Now that it has been linked to strokes, breast cancer, colon cancer and the list goes on. Plus bone health. See below info Vitamin D deficiency is associated with obesity, but it is not clear if inadequate vitamin D causes obesity or the other way around," said the study's lead author, Shalamar Sibley, MD, MPH, an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota. In this study, the authors attempted to determine whether baseline vitamin D levels before calorie restriction affect subsequent weight loss. They measured circulating blood levels of vitamin D in 38 overweight men and women before and after the subjects followed a diet plan for 11 weeks consisting of 750 calories a day fewer than their estimated total needs. Subjects also had their fat distribution measured with DXA (bone densitometry) scans. On average, subjects had vitamin D levels that many experts would consider to be in the insufficient range, according to Sibley. However, the authors found that baseline, or pre-diet, vitamin D levels predicted weight loss in a linear relationship. For every increase of 1 ng/mL in level of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol - the precursor form of vitamin D and a commonly used indicator of vitamin D status - subjects ended up losing almost a half pound (0.196 kg) more on their calorie-restricted diet. For each 1-ng/mL increase in the active or "hormonal" form of vitamin D (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol), subjects lost nearly one-quarter pound (0.107 kg) more. Additionally, higher baseline vitamin D levels (both the precursor and active forms) predicted greater loss of abdominal fat. "Our results suggest the possibility that the addition of vitamin D to a reduced-calorie diet will lead to better weight loss," Sibley said. She cautioned, however, that more research is needed. "Our findings," she said, "need to be followed up by the right kind of controlled clinical trial to determine if there is a role for vitamin D supplementation in helping people lose weight when they attempt to cut back on what they eat." The National Institutes of Health, the University of Minnesota, and the Pennock Family Endowment at the University of Minnesota funded this study.
  17. I have found that I have to eat small portions every three-four hours. I am at 8 mos out and this has evolved over time. I started at the beginning with three basic meals and a small "snack" such as some fruit but was always very weak and light headed because I wasn't able to get enough protein down at a time. So this works better for me. Of course, it's obvious that protein is the better choice! "Sliders" are very tempting at this point!
  18. Guys, I lost LOTS of hair - it started around 4 months or so and from what I see (at 8 months out!) has not stopped yet! My hair is so thin on top you can see SCALP all the way back! I'm thinking of buying some of that "spray on" stuff guys use for bald heads! lol Seriously, it is bad. BUT I've lost 100lbs and gone from a size 20 to 8 so it's worth it!
  19. Well, to answer truthfully-yes, I have Lots more wrinkles! My face has sort of " fallen" in on itself! Lol. BUT others say, "you look so much younger!". I am 57 years old so knew I would have this but 97 lbs gone, no drugs, no sleep apnea, size 8. I'll take it any day! And yes, fillers here I come! Ha!
  20. Yes, please. georgiasm1@yahoo.com Thanks!
  21. OMG! Now, ya'll are scaring ME! I am at goal and have found that "sliders" are easy to eat! A few chips here, a couple of pieces of candy there because of the fact that you cannot eat much at a time. I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK THERE! So... the obvious is - eat healthy, exercise and watch what we eat. I don't think denying ourselves completely is the answer since the majority of us would never make it anyway. Moderation has to be key.
