Can't wait to see the pics! Whoo hoo!

At almost 4 years out, I def have more capacity but in reality not much more IF I eat as I should. What's so weird to me is, 5-6 bites I'm done but I don't WANT to be done and at this timeframe STILL tend to think I can eat more than I can. OLD HABITS DIE HARD! Now junk, lots and lots of sliders but as we all know, That restitution never was there! I also get hungry about every 3 hours or so now whereas, I could go longer periods early on. I know a lot is mind games. Some days it is a battle of the will over the want! On another note, anybody see the 5 Bite Dr on Dr. Oz the other day? What are your thoughts?

Everyone of you "girls" (I'm allowed to say that aaa I hit senior level this year. ). Look Amazing! Seriously, we HAVE to learn to just DEAL now. We will never be perfect and reach Utopia ( as my husband likes to refer to) but we look dang good! What's really, rely bugging me right now, and seriously, I NEVER really thought it would is wrinkly hangy skin. I really don't have much and I'm very lucky but it seems that even that I HAVE over the last almost four years has gotten much Worse. And at my age, it's NOT gonna bounce back. Ha! My only wish is that I had seriously had this opportunity much younger in age. So take it from me, Y'all look great!!!!! I look pretty good for a 60 year old. At least my 9 year old grand says so, "Nannie, you don't LOOK 60!" Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! LOL I'm in the beach as we speak, so life is pretty good right now. And BTW, GG, I love your new pic!!

Well, I'm sitting on the beach I. Myrtle Beach SC and being bad. . You know those biscotti cookie things they serve in air flights ? Well, that started it off. Ha! Anyway, the hubs and I are here til Friday. Came last Thursday. Had a travel certificate that expired in may so we used it. Sad to say, though, if you've seen the news/weather last night we lost at least 16 people from a mile wide tornado that ripped through at least three communities FOUR MILES FROM MY HOUSE Needless to say, we were on edge all night because our daughter and grand girls were there in the same area. Looking at the footage today, it's utter devastation. Crossed over the Interstate as well. So say a prayer for AR Communities of Mayflower and Vilonia this week. Here's me in the beach. Been sitting here for now 4 hours and loving it but I have a hard time sitting still!!!! Feel guilty. .

Wow! How exciting for you. Sounds like a great deal. My daughter finishing up RN right now. Been tough and a 3.5 year battle since she is 37 a single Mom of two and had to split up after LPN and work a year but her plan is to go on to NP also. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

I think this is true. Lately my BP has been hovering around 140/88-90. Much higher than has been and I think it is because of several things. High stress, shingles, too much sodium but I'm 110 pounds less and my BP was normal and low for the first 3 years and I had stress then too!!!!

Yes, I did. And it WAS shingles. Took Valtrex and pain killers for about 2 weeks and it lasted for about 4 weeks total. Completely clear now and pain free. I'm hoping it forever!!!! Yikes.

Started having this pain on my left side in rib cage area several days ago. Gets better and worse later in day and them a day or so ago sensitive to touch/kinda burning etc. And another spot on my back - same region. Very touch sensitive and pain. I've read up on it and a co worker has had for several months. It seems it could be beginning shingles pain before rash. I've looked at other things like pancreas, esophagus, rib cage Etc The first night I almost went to emergency room them seemed to resolve itself and not but just a twinge for a day or two now back with a vengeance today and yesterday. Yes. I'll go to Dr but wondering of anyone has had shingles and experienced similar. (And it's Sleeting heavily here!). Thanks in advance

Sheryl, I dont know if it is grief or just "what it is". I think many of us hit a place in life where sometimes you just "give in" to just not wanting to be the super strong women we have had to be for so long. I have bouts of this also and can totally relate. As I said late last year, I finally gave in and went back on a low dose anti depressant because I didn't like the "me" that I had become and couldn't seem to pull myself out of it to the place where I didn't lose it quickly over the least thing. It has helped. Not 100% because it's def not a "cure all" but I can certainly tell the difference. I wish for you the best. AND, I've NEVER lost 5 pounds because I was depressed. I can only wish! Mine goes the other way!!!! Speaking of losing weight. I've lost a little the HARD WAY. I went to bed Sunday night and woke up about 2 hours later sick. Vomited and retched for 10 hours!!! Let me just say for the record, having a very small stomach that produces a lot of stomach acid is absolutely disgusting! It burned all the way up my esophagus!! Wow! Like liquid fire - since there was not much in my stomach I just kept retching up this acidy fluid. Then was sick all day Monday. Back up and walking today - wobbly - but up and at work. Very strange. I think it might have been some cantaloupe I ate. Sounds strange but I think it might have been "tainted" or something. Nobody else got sick and nobody else ate cantaloupe. Kim, I'm sorry the hubs struck out at you. They certainly know just where to throw their darts when they want to really hurt us, don't they? Been married 40 years to the same guy and he has verbalized in his "roundabout way" of apologizing that he "goes for the jugular" when we are into a fuss. It is what it is. Relationships are HARD. Very. I hope that he finds a way to be honest enough with himself and you to apologize for his actions. All the other gang, love to you all!!!!! Proud of each and every one of you.

First off, I am sleeved so lets get that out of the way! Lol Rarely have ANY reflux or indigestion BUT as a rule, if you have had GERD or acid reflux prior to VSG, it is not a recommended surgery as it is known to CAUSE increase in GERD. There are several vets (LilMissDiva, Lisas Hope included) who have experienced severe GERD/acide reflux and one is in the process of revision from sleeve to RNY because of it. I would seriously consider now, talk to your Doctor strongly about this and also those who are experiencing this now. It's worth your time to truly research to make sure that the sleeve is what is best for you and your history. Best to you and keep us updated.

I partially agree with you Sheryl, and I know you certainly be up "living large" again soon, but I also think in terms of what we STOPPED from happening. Like HBP, sleep apnea, diabetes, hopefully reduced chances of stroke and heart attack. And I've seen a lot of skinny people with hip and knee eeplacements. Runners. Ha!!

OD, if the machine is not calibrated and his mask/machine is old and not fitting properly they WILL snore. Very irritating. Clyde does it too and I have to tell him to "fix" his mask or roll over!!! And sounds like your guy hasn't had a sleep study in some years Probably DOES need one.

Yeah, I was wondering how he was going to get it calibrated to his breathing level. And as for mask, you can get online ( amazon and order them also) my husband does since his ins won't cover now. He orders supplies from Amazon. Good luck

Sleeve is not recommended if you already have GERD. Some develop it and have to revise again. RNY is only surgery that I've read that offers best hope of LT remission of Diabetes. BTW, I have a sleeve.

Somebody explain to me band with plication. I'm assuming is means your stomach is folded over and stitched to makes smaller stomach as well as a small pouch of lapband. If that is the case, then in actuality it is a modified sleeve with a band, correct?
