How was your 5:2 day today?

Well, Girls, Today is my FOUR YEAR surgiversary! All in all, I'm pleased that I am at goal and was able to have this life changing surgery! I have found in the last few weeks, that I still have some work to do on making sure I make good choices. I tend to really work to ACHIEVE a goal, and then when I get there, somewhat relax and old habits/eating patterns creep back. I'm right at 148-150 - my goal from original and where my body really likes to be overall. I did get down to about 140 last year with 5:2 and I'm REALLY REALLY THIN at that weight (being 5'8") I like it for ME but my face looks OLD and others seem to think I look "sick". With that said, I need to "shape up" a bit - just with life itself, my energy level is low, my stress level - high and I'm tired, tired, tired! I've also been experiencing reactive hypoglycemia (I think due to increased carbs and sugar) where my blood sugar gets extremely low (to the point of faintness). I guess what I'm trying to say is - I'm very happy with what I have achieved, I'm thankful and grateful, and I realize AGAIN that it's a LIFELONG JOURNEY!!!

How was your 5:2 day today?

I so agree. Come on, folks! If you don't want sound knowledgeable advice from people who have DONE IT AND SUCCEEDED then don't ask! I cannot tell you the number of times I type out something and then just erase it and wander on. Simply because somebody will get in a snit. Like Kim said, some folks just have to create DRAMA.

    Why does the sleeve fail?

To be honest, I haven't seen anyone gain ALL of their weight back. Some regain 20-25-30 pounds as I did by eating too much junk sliders but I lost it all and more. My SLEEVE still has great restriction and it is the best tool I've ever had in my life. My 100 pound weight loss would have never been successful with just WW. I tried all that before. And if you get back to basics and follow your plan, your sleeve continues to work! I'm four years out - down 110 pounds.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Keep us posted, Sheryl. I, too, am somewhat concerned about overall tiredness, bruising, and low blood sugar (couple days mine was about 40!). Taking Vit D and trying to remember to take calcium, Multi and also now on Boniva but just feel really tired all the time.

How was your 5:2 day today?

OD, sure you are not gaining much but enjoy your nights out and just try to watch carbs in day. I'm having same issues about gaining right now. Don't have the "want to" right now to so any exercise or otherwise!

How was your 5:2 day today?

I'm very interested in the vest. Who provided etc. I am seriously worried about my back and neck shoulder with bone loss thrown in and I find myself slumping over so much!!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Sheryl, when I was really watching what I ate to start with on 5:2 I for to where I really didn't care or think about eating and on most days did good to average 600-800 cals with REAL restriction. I think our sleeve restriction joins with somewhat shrunken stomach from eating very lightly and I did just easily lose. Now, I need to do it again! Lol gained back to above my bounce but still below 150. I hit 139 at one point last Fall. And yes, everybody said I looked sick, I was too thin, blah blah blah and I'm 5'8"! Also, about your lack of appetite, if you are still taking small dose of anti anxiety they can reduce appetite also. I also got very weak for a whole during the losing period. Glad to hear about your dates.

    What is a "Slider" food?

Um, "slider" In other words, there is NO RESTRICTION on a slider food. Or at least, not much! Like RJ said, popcorn just keeps "sliding" - so you have to practice true portion control with those foods. As eluded to earlier, I can (and have! yes, I said it!) eaten basically a LOT of little donuts in a matter of hours. That's why our surgeons recommend low carb, high Protein diets. Most carby foods turn out to be sliders.

    What is a "Slider" food?

    Hee hee! So sorry, RJ!!!

    What is a "Slider" food?

^^^^^^ what she said at the beginning, not MANY things are sliders since you still have some residual swelling etc. As time goes on, MANY things can become sliders. For example, I could hardly eat ANY bread - a couple bites and I would get really sick - totally bloated my little stomach. Now, not so much! Still can't eat a whole sandwich but I can def eat a full half now and if I eat biscuits/rolls I could eat a couple without stopping. THAT's where healthy choices and watching your basics comes in! Any chips, Cookies, candy, etc - all sliders! Especially, those little white powdered donuts! (if you get my drift!) LOL

18 months post and its confession time,...

Man, (or WO-man you look great!! I can understand what you are feeling, though. I'm at four years out, regained about 27 pounds in year three and had to make myself realize I was on a slippery slope and didn't like it at all. I, too, used 5:2 to get the regain off and lost an additional 10 pounds. I'm somewhat relazed right now but use 5:2 to maintain and discipline myself. At 6 feet, you probably could easily make 175-80 your target goal and maintain once your body adjusts to the new setpoint. You might look into the 5:2 or try the 8 hour window eating and go back to your basics first of all. Good luck! And again, you can do this !
