    Newly Sleeved 6/11/10

I am 2 wks out today and the liquids going down still does that to me if I drink too much too quickly. It has GREATLY improved over the past 3/4 days so just stick to soups/full liquid for a few more days and you will be fine. BTW, Jer 29:11 is a life verse for me too!
  2. I am 12 days out post-op. Finally getting the food thing to settle down and learning how to eat slowly and what works for me right now. The only thing that is really bothering me physically is that I am extremely weak and don't have the strength when I get up in the mornings to hardly get dressed, etc. I usually have to "rest" every few minutes to accomplish this. Very light headed and get the "spots before your eyes" kind of feeling. I have taken BP medicine for several years and always took it at night before bedtime. Has anybody else experienced this and do you think it could be my blood pressure is bottoming out now? I have lost 22 lbs in 12 days - kinda fast - but I am eating as much as I can and trying to get as much protein as possible but not making it to 60gr most days. Any thoughts?
  3. Thanks, Christie. I go back to the Dr on the 29th and I am going to have them check it and my meds. Feeling much better, though.
  4. Thought I would update you guys. It seems I "turned the corner" so to speak Tuesday! I DID switch taking my meds until after I had eaten in the morning and it made all the difference in the world. I have felt so much better since then it is unbelievable. I also am getting more protein in and feel much stronger. thanks, guys! Where did you get the BSN Lean Desserts stuff?
  5. Quick question - are we EVER supposed to snack between meals - like on a few pieces of melon or string cheese? I haven't been hungry much at all until today and I seemed hungrier than before. So I had a piece of string cheese about 2 hours before my dinner and then a few pieces of fruit a couple hours after the meal. I am using 12gr yogurt as a supplement because I cannot get the protein shakes down without nausea (lactose intolerant).

    Nature's Best Isopure Protein Drinks

Now you guys are getting to me! lol I simply CANNOT get any of the protein shakes down (lactose intolerant) without becoming very nauseated. So I went and bought one of the Isopure today (alpine punch) and have been "sipping" it all day! ha! Haven't gotten the whole glass (bottle) drinken yet. I have just been trying to get yogurt down which I can manage and going to get greek yogurt (when I can find it) and try that as well. Still not getting 60gr protein in.
  7. Had my surgery June 2nd and have lost 18 lbs! Not without some pain along the way, though! Be prepared - it's not a "walk in the park!" BUT would do it again tomorrow!!!!!!

    Do I really look "sick"?

Tiffany, I would love to be "inspired" by your wonderful story! How do I look at your pics? Thanks
  9. I agree with all of you that have replied to this subject. The "stuck" full feeling that backs up straight to your sternum/throat is so miserable. I am having a really hard time getting in enough protein. I simply cannot get the protein shakes down with becoming extremely nauseated. Tried buying whey protein and adding but it makes me sick too. I have resorted to lowfat yogurt/greek yogurt but with still can't get enough protein in with the amount I can get down. Should I be too worried at this point - managing about 40gr I think a day. Trying to eat things that I can eat that have higher protein (scrambled egg/cheese, pintos mashed with cheese, etc). Any ideas? I am lactose intolerant and cannot get all the dairy shakes down!

    Extreme Gas Pains

FabBy50, I am interested in your "goal". How can you decide to stop losing or so forth. Has your weight loss stopped and you are truly just dieting now or how does that work?

Straws? Can anyone shed some light for me?

Glad to read this! I have always drank a lot of fluid during the day and used a straw to drink it. Only 5 days out but was having a real problem getting enough liquid down by mouth. Always felt it "hang" so I just decided to try the straw anyway. MUCH easier for me to get my liquids down and I did not have any gas symptoms. Since you are drinking your liquids with meals and stop 30 min before and after your "pouch" shouldn't be affected by it anyway.
  12. Thanks so much!!!!! Your story inspires me, by the way!

    Food intake???

I am only 5 days post-op and having been trying to devise a way to get enough protein in. Someone on another site gave me a tip - worked this morning. For breakfast, I took one AdvantEDGE protein drink (11 oz - 17 gr protein) added 1 scoop of Pro Performance Whey Protein (unflavored from GNC)- 21 gr protein, added 1/3 cup non-fat powdered milkl (8 gr protein) so I was able over an hour to get 46 gr protein so I've knocked out most of protein with my breakfast! Very filling but didn't taste bad at all (and I have VERY sick stomach and taste buds!) Now I will just work on my regular full liquids and water, etc through the rest of the day. Seems like the easiest thing for me to get down with no "hanging" is SF popsicles which have NO nutritional value! lol Good luck all!

    June Surgery anyone?

I am 3 days out from surgery and home yesterday! Trust me, all that desire to EAT leaves quickly! Lol. Trying to get down some cream of wheat today. First day of full liquids. Best friend right now is sugarfree popsicles which seem to go down easily and not "sit.". I had real issues with what seemed to be heartburn, indigestion which is starting to ease some now.
