What a Difference a Scale Makes

I did. She said weight. Which I thought would be too much, but as long as I take my time and do it slowly, I feel okay.

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.

Woot! I actually went and worked out today like I said I would, instead of making Christmas cookies. Go me!

    Knee pain post-op and beyond

I still have trouble with my left knee. I thought that after losing 50 lbs, it would start to ease up but so far, not so much. It isn't a constant pain; it only hurts when going up or down the stairs or if my crazy ass trainer gets me to do lunges. I'm hoping that the smaller I get, it will eventually start to decrease. Having another surgery is NOT something I want.....
  4. I FINALLY got a job (after almost 2 years of being unemployed). This is my first job since surgery and I'm having a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to handle eating and making sure I'm not starving myself or overeating. I just started working on this past Monday and this week, I've brought the following for food: Monday: carrot sticks, sandwich (chicken lunch meat and cheese), yogurt Tuesday: ummm....nothing. It was birthday, along with another woman in the office, so we went to Olive Garden. I ate capellini pomodoro and chocolate cake. Yeah, I know. Wednesday: leftovers from Olive Garden Thursday (today): egg salad on a bed of lettuce, mandarin oranges. And of course Water ALL DAY. I've been getting up and eating Breakfast, usually consisting of egg white and either 1/2 a piece of wheat bread with sugar free jelly, or egg whites with 1/2 a bagel. I'm kind of lost on what to eat for breakfast, other than eggs, which I'm already sick of. However, by the time 10am rolls around, I'm ready to eat my arm but I just suffer until it's time to eat lunch at 12:30. Any suggestions on things to take to snack on, or perhaps more filling foods to eat for lunch itself? Thanks everyone!

    How do you handle work?

I get two 10 minutes breaks, outside of my lunch break. I thought about eating then, but I wasn't sure if 10 minutes was enough time to eat a snack. I'll probably wind up eating at my desk. Too bad I don't even have one yet LOL

    How do you handle work?

Thanks everyone! I will be trying to incorporate a lot of these in the following weeks. The worst part about it is I only get 1/2 hr for lunch. Is that normal? LOL it's been so long since I've worked so maybe that's standard, but I feel like I have to wolf down my food. But having some healthy Snacks with me should definitely help out.

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.

I need to do this so badly. I had surgery on Sept. 27, and I think I've been to the gym twice. Maaaaaaybe 3 times. So right now, I'm pledging to get off my ass and work out at least 4 times a week. Starting soon? LOL. No, starting Monday. I know, I should start tomorrow, but then the week is over. And I'm being realistic here. So Monday I'm working out. No excuses.
  8. I went with my bf to visit his family for Thanksgiving and his stepmother had a "Cuban Thanksgiving." I got full so quickly and I had probably less than 2 oz of turkey, a teaspoon of black Beans and rice, and a bite of stuffing. There was so much more stuff to sample, including about a million pies, but I by the time I finished what was on my plate, I couldn't eat anymore. Thanksgiving was awesome and I didn't once feel deprived.

    Always been overweight!!!

I'm no where close to goal yet, but even with having lost 45lbs so far, I don't see a change in the mirror. My face doesn't look smaller to me, my body doesn't look smaller, I still feel like I look 333lbs. When I put on clothes, however, it's obvious that I'm not as big as I used to be because my old pants are falling off. I'm excited to eventually be able to see the change and not just have other people say they can see it.

    Ladies PMS question

My surgeon said I didn't have to stop taking my BC at any time; I even took them the morning of and the morning after surgery. As far as Motrin, I was told it was off limits. My center gave me a list of medications that were a no-go after surgery and basically all I can take is Tylenol.
  11. I haven't been taking my Vitamins since surgery. I know, I know. But every single time I take my multi Vitamin, I throw it up about 5 minutes later. I'm taking a chewable from Bariatric Advantage because it's what was given to my by my bariatric center. I told my doctor this but didn't really get a suggestion as to what else to take. Specifically I was told to try talking to a support group to get other suggestions. So does anyone have any? I was taking a One a Day Women multi pre-op; might that be okay to take again?

    Multi vitamin suggestions?

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm definitely going to have to give some of these a try. I'm having the same problem with calcium as well. I was given unflavored calcium citrate, also from Bariatric Advantage, and that's a no-go as well. I replaced them with a chewable calcium, but it's only 250 mg I think. Which means I would have to eat about 6 a day. Yeah, haven't done that either. I seriously need to get on the ball with the Vitamins or my surgeon is gonna kick my butt.

    I think I overdid it. =(

I started taking Protonix 2x a day and it pretty much fixed the heartburn and reflux I was having. I never had reflux problems before surgery, but I, too, had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time of surgery and it was killer afterward. Eating didn't really help me, and drinking warm liquids helped, but only while I was drinking them. After, I felt like I could breathe fire. Protonix was definitely my saving grace.
  14. Hey everyone. I am in desperate need of a workout buddy (or buddies) and of general support. I could definitely use the motivation to work out more and have someone to swap stories and ideas with. I'm a member of LA Fitness but I'm not married to the idea of having to work out only in the gym. Lemme know if you're interested. Oh, and specifically, I live in Oviedo near UCF.

    Eating Out

When my boyfriend and I go out, we usually split the meal because I most likely won't eat the leftovers. Since he weighs in at about 160 and never gains weight (bastard) I usually make the decision of what we'll be eating. I stay away from the things that I know are bad for me, sleeved or not. I don't do fried anything and usually always order Protein (chicken or steak) and veggies. Although, last night's trip to Olive Garden was not my best idea Sometimes if he's not in the mood to share, I'll order a cup of chili or something small. And I looooooove sushi.
  16. Hey ya'll. I'm in Orlando and I'm looking for some workout buddies and just support in general. Working out is so much more fun with other people and I could definitely use some motivation. I'm a member at LA Fitness but I'm not married to having to work out in the gym. I'm down for the outdoors, too If anyone is interested, let me know!

    Florida Sleevers!

Well, I replied, but I'm not sure if it went through, but I was saying how you're the first person I've seen who has used Dr. Webb also.

    Florida Sleevers!

You're the first person I've seen on here that used Dr. Webb, too. He did my friend's gastric bypass about 6 years ago, which is how I found him.
  19. Is this happening to anyone else? It's happened to me about 3 times since surgery, most recently this morning. All it took was brushing my teeth and as soon as my toothbrush hits my tongue, I start gagging and then spend the next 5 minutes throwing up bile. Ummm....why did I do this again? Sigh. Can I fast forward to 3 months from now?
  20. I usually drink a glass of Water before I eat (maybe about 30 mins before) and then I wait 30-45 mins after eating to drink again. However, I find it hard to get liquids in after eating. Even with the waiting, a sip or two makes me feel like I'm going to explode. So I sometimes wait up to 1 1/2 hours to try drinking, but it's still the same. I thought maybe I was eating too much so I've started to weigh my food. For example, last night I had a Boca patty (2 1/8 oz cooked) and I ate half of it, and I measured a 1/2 cup of green Beans, of which I ate about two forkfuls. Most of the time, I'm eating less than 3 oz of Protein and less than 1/3 cup of veggies and it's still hard to drink. So as a result, I'm definitely not getting in as much liquids as I should be. Is anyone else experiencing this? Do you have any suggestions?
  21. I'm confused. I've read many people on here talking about carb free alternatives and how they either don't eat carbs, or limit them to X amount per day. So I asked my NUT how many carbs I should stay around and she told me not to worry about it and it didn't really matter. I have enough common sense to know that I shouldn't sit around eating slices of bread all day, but I'm wondering if perhaps she's wrong. I want to maximize my success, especially during this losing phase. Has anyone else gotten this response from their NUT or did you find that staying under a certain amount really helped with their weight loss?
  22. LOL. Mmmm....I love carrots. And bananas. I just came across a post earlier where someone was talking about the amount of carbs in pills. I was like, uhhh....WTF? I didn't even know there were carbs in pills. You sound like you've got a good plan going on and really, that type of eating appeals to me more than counting every single carb I put in my body. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something "wrong." I've emailed my NUT about this, but I think she has an quota of answering one email a day. LOL

    Emotional Eating

I find myself wanting to eat when I'm bored. I've been good about keeping sweets out of the house until recently, when I thought it was a good idea to buy my boyfriend some ice cream. Then, to make myself feel better, I bought sugar free ice cream for me. I've managed to avoid eating it straight out of the carton but if I'm completely honest with myself, I shouldn't have it in the house at all. The rest of my vices have been kept out, though. I know eventually I'll be able to enjoy these things in moderation, I just think now it too early considering I'm only around 7 weeks out. Or 6 weeks, I think.
